Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 1,120 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently encountered significant problems with delivery services, including parcels not arriving as scheduled, false delivery attempts, and items being lost or severely delayed. Many people reported unhelpful customer service, long wait times, and difficulties resolving issues, often finding staff incompetent or uninterested. Reviewers also found tracking information unreliable or non-existent, leading to uncertainty about their parcels' status. Additionally, expedited delivery services often failed to meet promised timelines, causing frustration, especially with important items like medication and official documents.

Severely delayed

Two pairs of shoes from different companies dispatched immediately when ordered using 48 hour tracked service. The shoes ended up sitting in the Bristol delivery office for a week according to tracking info. They then sat in my local delivery office for another week. I ended up going there to collect them. Goodness knows how much longer I’d have waited otherwise. Appalling service.

Can't be bothered to deliver my parcel but can sit outside doing nothing for 10+ minutes.

Utterly useless. Royal mail have only once delivered mail in a month to our apartment block and that's only because I complained, they only delivering parcels. Today my steamer was due to be delivered with them, at 10.52 it says delivery was attempted. No one range/ knocked. The worst thing is there's a post office delivery van literally sitting 1 metre away from our apartment carpark. He's been there for 10 minutes. Busy??

Apparently I was not in what some rubbish

Apparently I was not in to take the parcel, which is nonsense, as I waited all day for it and no postman was to be seen. Royal mail has gone downhill, and it will be quicker to deliver parcel yourself rather than waiting on this joke of a courier

Pressure Cooker that needed to be returned to seller wrecked beyond repair!

. . .I needed to return an electric pressure/multi cooker to the eBay seller I bought it from as it was turfing out more steam and noise than the Flying Scotsman, and I got several not–pleased messages back from the seller complaining that the bottom of it had been wrecked totally beyond repair!

. . .I don't know how they managed to do it – it must have been dropped from a great height or something extremely heavy dumped on top of it – I cannot imagine how a fairly robustly built pressure cooker could have been handled in such a grotesquely careless manner!

It used to be very reliable, years ago. Don't know what happened, new management or who knows, but it's just awful now. Sending message about delivery timeslot and then another message saying we have tried. No, you fckn haven't!!!!

Absolute bottom of the barrel company - Service & price for businesses is not sustainable - 1 star is too high

Well. this company has nose dived so fast its untrue. We have a business account, sending mail with our online business. We have been with them since 2010. spending 20k up per year. They have always been about 50p per packet cheaper than just going to the post office or buying a single label which is what it should be if its a business account selling volumes. Recently i checked our invoices to my disgust the price of royal mail 48 which we use alot jumped by a silly amount, Infact that high due to surcharges and green taxes . now £4.44 plus vat. so well over £5 . Whats worse is there are no account managers to tell you any of this so you think everything is ok until you check your self as you dont seem to be making the profit you should be doing. And even worse is if we buy a single label on amazon or ebay for the same royal mail service or go to the post office we are only charged £3.95. or on shopify we can get a price for 48 tracked for £2.95. thats £1.50 cheaper than what our business account gets us.. how does this happen... so we are winding down using royal mail now. its not sustainable when we can save 1-1.50 per parcel . saving £500 a month buy using online buy label and save even more by using EVRI which used to be poor service compared but now royal mails service quality is at the bottom of the bag with some items being delivered 12 days after posting. We ring up with a question and that cant be answered there and then so they put a request through and thats 5-10 days to get back to us... Absolute madness . this company is going to be in trouble at this rate. we will never go back . 1 star is too high but you cannot select zero star.. but i guess they deserve one star as the postmen are nice people.

System error is now my cost

Sent a parcel via royal mail,

No one was home so it was requested for redelivery to a local post office for collection, however due to a system error (being a Sunday) it was not processed and the redelivery address was not able to be be changed.

Spent 30 mins on the phone to get told that as it had been 18 days they could not resolve and where sending it back and to get sent again I will have to pay.

Not going to use Royal mail again for parcel shipping.

When did Royal mail get owned by a Czech Billionaire

Terrible and unreliable

Terrible and unreliable. There needs to be stronger penalties for these poor couriers that loose your parcels. There is no care for lost parcels because they don’t get penalised for loosing them.

2 very poor experiences within a week

2 very poor experiences within a week. 1st. Parcel left and photographed at my gate for the tracking update, then removed by the deliverer and taken to elderly neighbour. No further tracking update or card left. 2nd. Parcel should've been delivered to locker, instead taken to a depot 20 miles away for me to collect! Shockingly bad service.

Dishonest Liars

Expecting a delivery from Germany that had arrived in the UK by typical German efficiency. Should of arrived on a Thursday when we were in all day but no one came. Had an email from Parcelforce to say it would be delivered the next day but again failed to arrive despite the fact we were in all day again. No updates from them so checked the tracking and found it updated by them to a failed delivery. This was a blatant lie as we were in and close to the front door with windows open at the supposed time of delivery. No card was put through the door either which proved that they had lied about delivering that day. Rearranged for next day delivery and again no one turned up. No delivery updates or any communication from them at all. Will arranged a 4th delivery day but if the parcel does not arrive in the next 2 working days it will be reported as Lost or Stolen Parcel. A useless company with dishonest employees.

Royal Mail is a dim shadow of what it…

Royal Mail is a dim shadow of what it used to be. In the last two weeks I've had a sent 24Hr Delivery parcel arrive a day late with no tracking updates until the last moment, an important spanner allegedly not delivered because no one was at home, even though it would have easily fitted through the letterbox and no We've Got Something For You card. The promised Next Day delivery didn't materialise and when I booked a re-delivery for yesterday, that hasn't turned up either. Another small parcel arrived five days late and the latest consignment was allegedly out for delivery today and still hasn't appeared at 18:15. To rub it in, a message to the complaints department last week hasn't been responded to. RM don't even deserve a one-star rating based on my recent experiences. To conclude, an ex-postal delivery friend of mine told me that 2nd class mail is often de-prioritised into 'not important'. I wonder what salary the Top Dogs are on. ...Get your failed system sorted out. I'm going to use independent couriers as much as possible as of now.

Sitting in the house waiting for a delivery since they sent a message to say parcel would be delivered today. Instead I received a message telling me I am not in and a card telling me they tried to deliver.

Now they tell me to arrange a re delivery then the website says redelivery cannot be arranged. Website is truly awful and goes round in circles.

Royal mail is truly frustrating
