Great communication

Ran in to a few issues while switching over, but these were dealt with. If, like me, you are sick of dealing with companies that take days to reply to your enquiries and sort out your issues, I'd recommend A&A - you can speak to someone within a minute most times in my experience and the communication is great. Highly recommended.

Spam texts, years after ordering

I placed an order with this company a few years ago. Items were cheap. However, years later I am still being sent marketing texts. I’ve tried to opt out in several occasions. I’ve blocked the number each time I receive one, they just get a new mobile number and send their spam out again. I will never buy anything again from them and would encourage others to avoid.

Terrible communications

Placed an order on 26th March with a delivery date of 5-7th April. Received comms on the 8th that a part hadn’t passed quality control and had to be re-cut. Nothing further. A week later I emailed for an update, three days later and still no reply. Scheduled two dates to complete this project and had to cancel them both, causing a great deal of frustration. Now I have no idea when to expect them. No business can expect customers spending £800+ to put up with this terrible level of customer service in 2025.

Difficult to cancel subscription

Signed up for a promotion for free beers, just pay postage. They have now started a subscription service I did not want. They make it unduly difficult to cancel - follow a bunch of steps on their website only to be presented with a number to call during office hours. I believe this is in breach of Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts 1999 regulations.
Despite what they have advised, no email was received advising of subscription details.
Check all the negative reviews under "beer52 com/wine" - I'm not sure how Trustpilot allow these two profiles to exist simultaneously when they pertain to the same company, but they have somehow managed to filter all the negative reviews into this profile.

Terrible customer service

Waited a month for delivery of a mattress, when the delivery didn’t arrive we called. First of all my wife, who they wouldn’t speak to, despite her having all the details. Apparently a mattress delivery is a highly sensitive matter that can only be discussed with the account holder.
I called and was advised the driver was running late and would call me. No call came. I later received an email advising that delivery had been rescheduled for 6 days later. £39 for delivery and then the poorest customer service I have experienced in a while. I will not be using this retailer again.

No luggage trolleys anywhere

No luggage trolleys anywhere, ended up having to wheel 3 suitcases while pushing a pram with a toddler and trying not to loose a 5yr old walking next to me. I would expect much better a premium car park at this price. I've experienced this issue on 2 out of 3 visits this year.

Goods are shipped from the US, which isn't ideal for a number of reasons, but I found them to be of great quality when they arrived. The process of returning an item was also straightforward.

Poor customer support

Ordered an item but was advised it was out of stock. I asked to cancel the order. To cut a long story short, I have advised the retailer I wished to cancel this on at least four occasions. Three weeks later and I have still not received a refund.

I can see from the case and account notes that we were unable to action your refund request due to the fact you are not listed as an account holder - therefore due to data protection and GDPR which we advised you of were not able to process your refund until someone listed contacts us.

I can see that there has still not been a request made from an account holder using the registered email address, once this happens, we will be able to process your refund.

Ordered an outdoor sofa. Arrived when expected. Discovered an issue with a zip for one of the cushions. No problem, replacement sent. Things go wrong, it’s how they are handled that dictates the standard of customer service. I couldn’t have asked for more here.

Serious payment issues

We've generally had good experiences with our many stays at Jumeirah hotels. However, on a recent holiday, a provisional charge was put on my card at the start of the stay. When I went to check out and pay the final bill, rather than take the initially held funds, they created a new charge. There were not sufficient funds in the account to pay and I ended up having to use another card and incur significant charges (£300+) as a result. The funds were then held in limbo for another 3 weeks. While I appreciate this latter issue may have been at the card issuer side, it could have been avoided by just taking the original charge. Reading other reviews here, I see this was not an isolated incident.
I incurred significant charges and was without £12k+ of my own funds for a month as a result of this. I would regard this as a serious failure by Jumeriah. I contacted the hotel regarding this (Zabeel Saraay), but received no reply to my complaint. Very disappointing.

First class service

Over the years, between home and several businesses, I have tried many, many of the UK energy suppliers. Octopus stand head and shoulders above the rest in terms of service.

Low and behold, you send an email and get one back within 24hrs. If Jay emails you back and you reply, Jay will handle the reply. Requests are actioned quickly and efficiently.

I only been with them a few weeks, but, this far, I would highly recommend them.

Terrible service

Terrible service. Carried out a job for me and left it in a terrible state, been back to fix it a couple of times, both turning up without an appointment and doing the work when I was not present, so could not inspect. Still not sorted, though they did have a director come and agree the job needs sorted.

Been using for years with very little issue. Good products and decent service, couldn’t really ask for much more.

Edit:
Almost inevitably, after submitting a 5star review, I have had nothing but problems since. Only partial orders coming; submitting orders that were not processed.
Really need to get their act together soon.

Avoid this retailer

Initially advised a delivery date, but they continually missed this and assured me it would be with me soon. Six weeks passed before I finally cancelled the order. They blamed issues at the manufacturers side, yet I was able to order from another site and receive the item within 4 days. Other reviews seem to highlight similar issues.
Refund took nearly 3 weeks and various emails.
My advice would be to avoid this retailer.
