Quick delivery and great products

Quick delivery and great products. Needed vent components for my builder to install built-in ventilation for a portable AC unit. This was a Blauberg Bullnose Supply Exhaust Grille 150mm Stainless and a 150mm 1M ducting pipe in grey plastic. Parts were high quality, delivered quickly and exactly what I wanted.

Very happy with Sound-Affair

Very happy with Sound-Affair. I contacted them to see if they were interested in buying my 20 y/o B&O Beosound 3200 Hi-Fi. James looked at my photos and offered a fair price. He arranged collection and I was paid in full by bank transfer the next day. Very easy and professionally managed. Highly recommended.

Great advice and service at Caversham

Very happy with the experience of purchasing the Naim Uniti Atom from the Caversham shop.

Dominic there is very knowledgeable and didn't try and push me towards more expensive systems. He understood my requirements and let me try out a demo model at home for me to check it would work well with my B&O Active speakers from the pre-out output.

It all worked great and I could swap it for a brand new unit. Very happy with this. A good upgrade from my 21 y/o B&O 3200 unit.

Review of Monnit

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Unreliable and poor customer service in the UK

There are clearly reliability issues with these Monnit ALTA products, but worse still is the poor after-sales service (from my experience with the UK retailer - see the Trustpilot review for wireless-sensors.co.uk in the UK).

Monnit reputation is being let down by this retailer and the review would have been so positive if they'd handled it properly.

I purchased Monnit ALTA sensors and gateway from Wireless-sensors UK/Measurement Systems Ltd (Datanamics) in the UK. They are agent/retailers for the Monnit range.

I've been a Monnit and Wireless Sensors UK customer now for over 7 years. I use the sensors on my boat to monitor it remotely. Despite claims of durability etc., my experience of the reliability and particularly the after-sales service (in the UK) has been negative.

I bought an ALTA AA Monnit water detect sensor in July 2023, which failed after only 14 months despite being operated within the specified operating range of temperature etc. The UK retailer acknowledged it was faulty and told me it couldn't be repaired, but when I sought a repair or replacement or a full or partial refund under the 6 year protection described in the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, they refused and told me to just buy another one for more money than the original cost and referred to the 12 month warranty.

Product information about the Monnit ALTA range on the site gives the impression that these are quality products offering many years of expected life. These are expensive sensors described as "enterprise grade" with battery life of "10 years plus" and designed for operation in environments which include boats. I had an earlier failure with a Monnit gateway and had to buy that one again too.

When these sensors work, they work well, but I'm really disappointed by how they respond when their products fail. I understand that things can fail, but I think Monnit are really being let down by Wireless-sensors UK and their customer care.

What I expected was a response like "sorry, we'll arrange a repair", or "sorry, we'll give a you a 50% refund as it is unusual for it to have failed in just 14 months". All I got was that I needed to buy it again for more money.

I'm hoping Wireless-sensors UK and/or Monnit will eventually provide a better response once they've read the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015. In fairness to both companies, I'll delete or update this review if there's a more positive update.

Reply from Monnit

Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review and for being a loyal customer for more than seven years. Your experience with both product reliability and after-sales support in the UK is clearly not what you expected, and your frustration is completely understandable.

While this reply cannot change what has already happened, your feedback will be taken seriously. It points to two important needs:

* Clearer alignment and expectations with UK partners regarding customer care.
* Better support paths for cases where products fail earlier than reasonably expected, even outside standard warranty.

Thank you again for your time and review.

Review of Wireless Sensors

Disappointing product quality and poor after-sales service - Avoid.

Wireless-sensors UK/Measurement Systems Ltd (Datanamics) supply Monnit remote wireless sensors for monitoring things like temperature, humidity, water detection etc. Product information about the Monnit ALTA range on their site gives the impression that these are quality products offering many years of expected life. I've been a Monnit and Wireless Sensors UK customer now for over 7 years. I use the sensors on my boat to monitor it remotely. Despite claims of durability etc., my experience of the reliability and particularly the after-sales service has been negative.

I bought an ALTA AA Monnit water detect sensor in July 2023, which failed after only 14 months despite being operated within the specified operating range of temperature etc. They acknowledged it was faulty but when I sought a repair or replacement or a full or partial refund under the 6 year protection described in the Consumer Rights Act 2015, they refused and told me to just buy another one and referred to the 12 month guarantee. They eventually offered a 15% discount on buying it again but that still made the new sensor more expensive than the original. I understand that they may not be able to repair it and I understand that products can prematurely fail. It’s how they then understand consumer rights protection and support the customer afterwards that is the real measure of customer service.

These are expensive sensors described as "enterprise grade" with battery life of "10 years plus" and designed for operation in environments which include boats. Just this one water detect sensor alone cost £129 in 2023. The test about goods being required to be of satisfactory quality within the Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives the consumer protection for up to 6 years in England and Wales. The act states "The statutory right under section 9 (goods to be of satisfactory quality) will only be breached if goods are not of the standard which a reasonable person would consider to be satisfactory, taking into account circumstances including the price and any description given.". So the question for Wireless Sensors UK is do you think that a reasonable person would think it satisfactory for this sensor to fail in under 18 months and to be told to just buy it again? A reasonable person would expect the offer of a repair, replacement or a full or partial refund.

I also faced an issue with a Monnit Gateway in 2023 which required me to not only buy a new gateway, but because their technology for the sensors had changed, I had to spend over £1,200 to replace the gateway and all my sensors. This is because they can't repair products and their product development strategy did not consider sensor backward compatibility.

These sensors can work well initially but in my experience have significant quality and support issues. I do hope the product quality and after sales service improves. I’ve now had to buy a replacement, but I am still pursuing my rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 for a satisfactory resolution for the failed one.

If Wireless-sensors UK resolves this issue, then out of fairness to them I will remove or update this negative review.

Went in for ear wax removal

Went in for ear wax removal. Elenor in Wokingham was very professional and did a great job. I thought I may have needed hearing aids, but after the successful removal of many years of ear wax in both ears, my hearing is greatly improved. It took 2 sessions, but the second appointment was free. Elenor then did a hearing test on both ears and confirmed my hearing was fine. It’s made such a big difference. Should have gone years ago. Very happy.

Review of MPB

Very impressed with MPB for selling camera kit

This is the second time I've used MPB in recent weeks. First was to sell my Hasselblad 907X kit and second time was to sell a Leica Visoflex 020. MPB web site offered a fair price based on my description and assessment of condition. Items sent on Friday via free pre-paid DPD at DPD drop-off point, arrived at MPB Monday, assessed on the same day and the money was in my bank account on the Wednesday. Simple and reliable. Very impressed!

Great strap and excellent service

Ordered a black 95cm rope camera strap on Wed 21st Dec. Despite the run up to Christmas and Royal Mail strikes etc. it was delivered Sat 24th. Very impressed with the strap and the excellent service and communication from Andrew. Fits perfectly on my Hasselblad 907X and a big improvement. I also really like the small leather discs supplied to protect the camera from the rings.
