My JustAnswer experience
I had one day's experince with JustAnswer and was not happy. I looked online for help at around 0930 UK time with a Karcher K5 pressure washer which kept cutting out. JustAnswer help was offered by phone or text. Signing up via credit card was, it seemed, for £1 (refundable); I did not spot the £32.00 monthly that was hidden somewhere. I asked for the advertised phone assistance but was told no-one was now available (!) so text was the only option. Then advised text messages “easier with the app” so I downloaded the app. To login, app asked for mobile number and then said “check your messages for secure link”. The link never came, even after several attempts. At some stage, I was asked if the K5 problem was a petrol or air issue & to check filters etc. I replied “What has petrol/diesel/air got to do with an electric pressure washer?” I started getting text messages on the phone at 11.10, but the app didn’t work well – I could receive messages but not reply to them! Around 13.23 I received advice by email from the expert – essentially “check water supply, power supply, switch off for 20 minutes and see if it helps, and check for hose blockage”. By 20.00 hrs – and no advice that I’d been charged £1 + £32 – I cancelled. No refund offered. No clever advice, no clear charging policy to sign up to, no advice of charging anything at all, no invoice, and a non-working JustAnswer app. I think it is very sensible to avoid this supplier at all costs. One star is too good for JustAnswer. As a pensioner I can ill-afford to lose money on something deceptive and of little value.
I have provided the additional information requested in JustAnswer reply below and will reconsider this comment if/when JustAnswer get in touch.
As I said in my earlier review, I was not at all happy with the service received from JustAnswer. After email exchanges with the firm, I have now been refunded in full and am happy to “wipe the slate clean”. Do read the sign-up carefully to note the monthly charges. They did the right thing. Judging by other people’s experiences, some find the advice line very useful indeed.
