Unexpected $38 Reorg Fee – Watch Out on Low-Priced Stocks

I closed my account after being charged a $38 mandatory reorganization fee on a low-priced stock. Because there was no individual advance notification or email warning before the corporate action occurred, I had no opportunity to sell the position to avoid a charge that was worth almost as much as the stock itself. While the fee may be listed in their terms, the lack of direct customer communication makes holding small positions on this platform risky.

I would give them 0 stars

I would give them 0 stars. We tried to fund the account back on August 4 2026. It took until October 16 th for them to finally verify the account. Their emails state that the rate would be 4.75 percent as long as it is funded by October 31. We decided to give them a try and allowed the money to be transferred. Today we go to see if it was finally transferred and we find out they did not give us the rate as promised. They take no responsibility for their shitty customer service and inability to update their verification systems. And we’d tried to cancel the transfer Monday which was 2 days ago and they said it’s processing ! 4 days to process? They provide no emails for complaints . Ypu have to physically write a letter. If you want interest monthly paid to you it has to be physical check . This is 2026 ! You can’t do bank transfers ??? Only accept them I guess. This is a scam . Stay away. Go to a real bank with real customer service . They suck . Writing a letter to report them to state banking commission if that exists any more. This is fraudulent .

IF I were able to rate them with zero…

IF I were able to rate them with zero stars, I would. I have 3 Deferred accounts with E*Trade that were 100% granted to me in my divorce in 2022. When I tried to transfer the accounts to another brokerage, I got SO many internal delays with E*Trade for 4 years - all the while I was getting zero interest on the cash in my deferred accounts. I filled out now fewer that 5 different forms, had them notoraized and sent to E*trade. I believe they INTENTIONALLY are making it difficult to transfer my funds in hopes that I will get frustrated and ultimately leave my funds in the account. Initially the issue was that E*trade was purchased by Morgan Stanley, and the account number changed. Then the issue was that delisted securities had to be transferred out of the account OR I incur a $75 fee. That is where I am at the moment

38 days without a clear timeline for returning my payroll deposit

My $2,219.10 payroll deposit from September 12 remains unresolved as of October 20, 38 days later. I submitted the requested signed dispute and identity documents on October 13. I still have no confirmed date for returning my money. Today a phone representative told me the account was closed and that they normally wait 30 days after closure before sending a check. I’m seeking the exact closure date and a confirmed mailing date. This prolonged uncertainty and lack of a clear resolution timeline are unacceptable.

I opened a one-year CD with Etrade but the monthly interest amounts don't seem right. The interest checks also take a long time to arrive by mail and direct deposit isn't available. Don't use it.
The interest from my investment with CVE CAPITAL CORP is exactly as promised. The platform is easy to use and I get paid all the time.

LITERALLY THE MOST HORRIBLE BANK EXPERIENCE I EVER HAD

I really wish I had read all of these reviews before opening an account with them. Now I understand why they offer so many flashy promotions—it’s because they’ve already lost almost all of their customers.
I opened a savings account to take advantage of a cash promotion, but as soon as I transferred funds from my external bank, they suddenly restricted my account. They claimed the transfer was suspicious and told me to submit documents to lift the restriction. Sounds easy, right? Absolutely not. I uploaded every single document they requested multiple times, but they kept rejecting them for ridiculous reasons. I have called customer service at least eight times. Each time, they just tell me to upload another document and wait 3 business days to call them back. You literally have to chase them down because they will never call or email you with an update.
They have made the past two months a living HELL just for me to get my own money back. They will do everything in their power to hold onto your funds. You have no idea the nightmare this greedy, incompetent bank put me through. It wasted hours of my precious time and scared me to death that I might never get my money back. Consider yourself warned. You should warn your friends and families too if you really care about them.

I transferred money to get a bonus but…

I transferred money to get a bonus but changed my mind and moved my funds back out. They immediately locked my account without warning and restricted the remaining cash. Customer service told me to upload all my details but they still have my funds. I've been able to withdraw funds from M𝚘netian...without much hassle and the processing time has been short.

Stupid

I transferred $20,000 into their savings account to get the bonus. After using their website and app and experiencing how how terrible they are, I decided it wasn't worth the bonus and moved my funds out to a normal bank. They locked my account without warning and restricted my remaining funds. I called customer service and they told me I need to upload all this crap and they still have my funds. What a shit company.

Unreliable platform..

Unreliable platform... Many mistakes and errors from the platform become hard to rectify. Additionally, the back office will sometimes restrict your ability to trade, and then you have to work with customer service. Customer service doesn't seem to have the power to resolve situations. Etrade (and Morgan Stanley more generally) are NOT conducive to individual investors or retail options trading

Filed a FINRA complaint

Filed a FINRA complaint against E-Trade. I have been trying for months to get my deceased father's account transferred to an estate account. Every phone call is either "oh, fill out this form," or "it's all in process, it should take 1-2 more weeks."

Avoid this investment firm unless you hate your heirs. E-Trade will make it impossible to access/move your estate.

Opened a one year CD with Etrade. Not sure how they do the math calculating the monthly interest but something is not correct. Monthly distribution checks are slow to show up in the mailbox. They do not support an E direct deposit disbursement of the interest funds.
Mobile app locks up with an information banner that I can't get past.

DO NOT USE THIS BANK!!!!

If I could give it 0 stars I would. this bank has given me so many problems with far too little results in just the past two months. I opened my account to get a bonus however, it took at least 5 calls and 2 weeks for me to even be able to get logged into my account while also using an external app because they could not connect my phone number to the account. Since they are not directly working with Venmo, each time I tried to connect my account it would get flagged and blocked, this happened two times and I had to call 7 more times. At this point the bonus was up and I had talked to people prior to it ending that I was not able to get any sort of money into my account through Venmo or checks. they had me call 4 more times to see if they could extend the time and after that 4th time they said they could not. How is anyone supposed to get a bonus if there is no possible way to get any money into the account. it has really poor management. If you are looking for a good bank with full easy access this bank is NOT the one for you. Countless hours spent on the phone all for nothing and they said there is nothing they can do about it. DO NOT USE THIS BANK!!!!!

If I could give them zero I would. I recently came back from a military deployment and my VIP Acess app was expired so I needed help logging in. Been calling them for weeks choosing the option to return the phone call they NEVER call back I have a small kid at home and a busy work life. Not a lot of time to be on hold. Finally got a minute for a phone call. Calling them today the machine says 2 minute wait time I am on the pjone for nearly an hour and STILL going. Just to get basic ACCESS to my account.
