Great customer service + they reimburse ATM fees

I've been a customer of Charles Schwab for multiple years now. Their customer service is some of the best I have ever experienced. I also really appreciate how they reimburse all ATM fees. I will continue to use them for banking and brokerage services for the foreseeable future.

I’ve been trying to gift shares to my…

I’ve been trying to gift shares to my daughter for over six weeks, and the process still isn’t complete. I’ve called at least 20 times, and each representative has given me different requirements or next steps. There seems to be no consistent, coordinated process at Schwab for handling share transfers or gifting. This experience has been extremely disappointing. I’m now planning to move to another brokerage.

Goldwasser that’s all I have to say

Goldwasser that’s all I have to say - complete fraud and under FNRA and SEC investigation.

I live in a one way record state which means I can record without the other person’s acceptance and on several recorded calls.

What I have on these calls which show a complete lack of compliance and disregard to FNRA & SEC guidelines ( it’s amazing that someone would say these things ) which is going to completely destroy the integrity of Schwa and they will be paying heavy fines.

Interested in joining a class action ? They have been taking part in nefarious and illegal business practices since taking over TD Ameritrade.

Legal implications to follow; stay far away from this company they ruined Td Ameritrade and will ruin you.

If I could give zero stars I would

If I could give zero stars I would. I have been waiting for my 401k rollover check in the mail for 30 days now. Every time I call, there is a different excuse - the check is in the mail, the check is coming from CA (10days later), the check came back destroyed, the check is being over nighted, the check wasn’t picked up by UPS on Friday, here’s the tracking number it went out today (tracking # says it hasn’t been picked up). Lies lies lies. Horrible customer service and due diligence making sure checks go out in a timely manner.

Really disappointed in Charles Schwab

Really disappointed in Charles Schwab. I opened a new account and funded it. They refused to give me permissions to trade on the SPY. I withdrew my money and was charged a hefty fee, very disappointed because I wasn’t given a chance to trade and lost money. I have now opened an account with IBKR and was granted permission to trade on the SPY. I do not recommend Charles Schwab.

IBD ads make the site very difficult to use.

I am a paying user of Investors Business Daily. The ads that are pushed to my pages are excessive and very intrusive. It is difficult to read articles because your screen keeps jumping as more and more ads are presented. This happens every day and with every web page. This happens on your PC and your mobile device. It is actually worse on mobile devices. Again, I am a paid subscriber to the IBD service.

Charles Schwab is unwilling to remove an address

Charles Schwab keeps sending mail to my home for the man I divorced over a decade ago. I have asked them to please cease sending the paperwork. They refuse. I have given them his contact info, and they do nothing with it. He was not a nice human, and I don't like getting the mail as it brings up bad memories.
It makes me very angry that they can't just stop. They could easily verify his whereabouts online.

Reducing my relationship

I've been a customer for ages, and had fairly large balances (much has been transferred out). I find it amazing that they advertise their paid lending program on their public website, but wouldn't offer it to me. I have identical equities at other companies that pay with the program. It's false advertising in my opinion. Also, they recently changed how they manage Health Savings Accounts - you can no longer invest on the Schwab website, and need to transfer cash to Webster bank to do anything, and then you pay a monthly fee. This just leads to a messy and annoying experience for the customer. Schwab needs to rethink both programs - perhaps get out of Health Savings altogether, and stop advertising paid lending if they aren't going to offer it to high-ish value existing customers.

I truly believe they make up trade…

I truly believe they make up trade restrictions when their algorithm flags a potential run on a stock. It's happened to me twice. Once specifically on my account I was told. I was also told that it would never happen again. Again this morning on PLAG. I was told it was flagged because of the Company's fraudulent activity. When I asked with the fraudulent activity was couldn't come up with an answer. Told me OTC markets happens a lot. When I asked to be shown where it's listed on OTC. He couldn't come up with it. Total lies. All lies. Do not trust. Do not put your investment money into Charles Schwab.

Don’t sign up for this brokerage

The app is not user friendly. The customer service reps aren’t kind or helpful. One of the poorest experiences I have had with a brokerage. I’ve had it for weeks and still have not been able to invest as they give zero transparency or communication in the app. You have to take time out of your day and call and call and call again. And then it takes an even longer to get documents reviewed when you send them in. I would not recommend this company unless you wish to feel absolutely powerless and you want your money to sit stagnant in an app you can’t utilize and no clear way to get your money refunded. Sad experience.

CHARLES SCHWAB HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

Absolutely the worst financial experience of my lifetime. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY WITH YOUR INVESTMENT. I am 70 retired on social security and had never made an investment in stocks. i had a small life savings and hoped to invest. Charles Schwab on the telphone, local brach and 1-800 help line were very friendly. They said " free account" " free online" " free trades." They should have said free and easy to lose your life savings...I told themI was going to invest in a technology stock and they did not offer any guidance for programs, tell me about mutual funds or any directions where I could learn about investment . they just helped me put the money in and make a purchase. I woke up the next morning and 12.5% of my life saving had disappeared. Vanished and now gone. I felt ripped off this is a.my very first time investor was not given any direction or offered any program to diversify. I told the 3 different agents that I talked to that I knew nothing about stocks and nobody offered to educate me in any way. I now see that being a CHARLES SCHWAB client is a fast and easy way to lose your hard earned savings. When the market reopens Monday I will probably get out with a huge 3 day loss and never return. I never felt so ripped off by people who were profiting , Shame on you Charles Swab taking advantage of innocent, unexperienced senior citizens.

Don't bank with these people

Don't bank with these people. They have stolen money from my individual accounts and investment retirement accounts; and transfer my funds into a journal without my consent. I also sold shares, and they did not pay me the transaction into my checking accounts. I plan to close all accounts and seek legal representation for their fraud.

They won't close my account

A company I worked for gave me a 401k here and I had it for many years. I was enrolled in an "Aggressive" strategy, which for a long time worked well and I was happy with. Then my financial advisor pointed out that what was in the "Aggressive" plan had been changed without my knowledge and without any notification, so I decided to move this money to a different account. I have tried UNSUCCESSFULLY 4 times now to close this account, and each time a few cents remain in there so it accrues and I have to keep rolling over silly distribution amounts. Every time I do it they tell me "this is the last time" but it's starting to feel like they're just trying to keep my account against my wishes. Every few months I have to get a rollover distribution and waste my time and energy trying to permanently close this account.

"Broken App, Broken Support. Broken Trust

When Schwab took over TD Ameritrade, they inherited thinkorswim — and thankfully it still works great. Unfortunately, that’s where the good news ends.

The Schwab app itself is genuinely the worst trading app I have ever used. It blacks out and freezes constantly. Account values and position values routinely don’t match between screens. Orders don’t reliably show up after execution, and repeated freezing has caused me to miss entry and exit points on real trades — an inexcusable flaw for any platform handling people’s money in real time. This isn’t just my experience — outage-tracking sites have logged over a thousand user-reported issues with the app and site in a single 24-hour period, and the company has confirmed a major platform-wide outage during volatile market hours on June 1, 2026, when many users couldn’t log in, trade, or view real-time data.

Escalating these issues to customer service was its own nightmare.

I dealt with Mr. AG an escalation manager, whose identity I’m withholding out of discretion — my aim isn’t to disparage anyone personally, but to share what happened. That said, his behavior struck me as nefarious, unethical, evasive, and skirting the edge of legal boundaries.

Every response felt dishonest, non-transparent, and unaccountable — as though he were protecting his own interests rather than genuinely trying to help resolve mine. I recorded the calls because the answers were so inconsistent I wanted a record of what was actually said. This matter has been formally escalated to the appropriate regulatory authorities, with a request for further investigation

Charles Schwab has separately faced regulatory scrutiny and litigation in recent years, including SEC and FNRA enforcement matters and class-action lawsuits — details are publicly available on the FINRA BrokerCheck and SEC. gov websites - I have personally added my own complaint to the regulatory record as well. For a firm this size, entrusted with managing people's investments, this combination of a broken app and indifferent support is flatly unacceptable.

If you're trading actively, be very cautious relying on the Schwab app - thinkorswim is the only reason I haven't left.

Customer service has markedly declined

Used to have a reputation for good customer service, but it has markedly declined.
I found myself unable to log in to my retirement accounts — error message "For your protection, we need to verify your identity before proceeding. Please call 888-999-4512 for assistance."
It took 5 phone calls over 2 days and over an hour of my time to regain access to my account. The first- and second-line agents at the phone number above and at the Schwab Retirement Center (800-724-7526) were unable to help; after multiple calls, delays and waits on hold I managed to speak with a third-line manager who finally restored my access.
I can understand that access may be temporarily restricted if there are concerns about account hacking (I had accessed my account from a foreign location), but regaining access shouldn't be this difficult and time-consuming.
Also, first-line agents, both on the phone and on the chat, are essentially useless. They seem to know very little, repeatedly put the client on hold and often answer incorrectly.
