god help you if they lock your account…
god help you if they lock your account for verification. Joined them a decade ago, I can't sell or buy, every time i call a ticket has to be created for management. Multi billion dollar company should resolve issues in 1 day not 2 weeks and still going
I got scammed on my old E*Trade debit…
I got scammed on my old E*Trade debit card. So I requested a new card in April. At end of July I still don’t have a card.
April to end of July I was mostly in Sweden to take care of my sick mom. E*Trade’s international number doesn’t work and AT&T doesn’t work in Sweden (they claim it does) so I couldn’t get in touch with ETrade.
This caused a lot of problems for me during a very difficult time. Don’t use E*Trade
Etrade screwed me out of the $1500
Etrade screwed me out of the $1500. bonus they promised when I opened a new Premium Savings account, using sneaky fine print. I appealed, they denied me twice more, what can I do???
Look out, they want your Driver License or Passport Uploaded!
I am a Senior Citizen and native born U.S. Citizen and I attempted to open an E*Trade/Morgan Stanley CD online. Before starting the application process I researched the product rates, any possible fees, etc. I was filling out the online application which prompted me to enter my Social Security Number, Date of Birth plus a great deal of other Personal Identifiable Information. The system prompted for a phone contact number with a drop down list of choices. I entered my home landline phone number. I reached a screen with a QR Code where it said it would "Text" a verifying Code to my phone number. You cannot text a landline phone number. I called their customer service for assistance and was directed to close the browser and start the application process over again this time entering a Mobile number. The representative remained on the phone line while I reprocessed the application again and this time although I entered a Cellular/Mobile number which the system said it could not verify me although it didn't send any text and it wanted me to Upload my Driver License or Passport! The representative said I was out of luck! I requested to speak with a Supervisor which did not please the representative. After waiting on hold for an inordinate amount of time on hold, the representative was hoping I would disconnect the call, the Supervisor had (0) no explanation as to why the E*Trade/Morgan Stanley application process does NOT disclose from the outset that a Photo ID Driver License or Passport would be required to open a CD Account. He refused to send me an email confirming that the vital Personal Identifiable Information that I had now entered (2) two times in their system would be purged. In fact, while I was on the phone with the Supervisor I started to receive multiple emails "Action required for your account application." This process by E*Trade/Morgan Stanley I consider Elder Fraud and Financial Exploitation. It appears that they are harvesting Personal Identifiable Information from unsuspecting Senior Citizens and the general public. I would not comply with their request to upload my Driver License or Passport. I would not open any account with E*Trade/Morgan Stanley even if they were offering Double or Triple the market Interest Rate. They have proven to be non-transparent and not trustworthy.
Will never do business with E*trade…
Will never do business with E*trade again. This is the 2nd time in a year that they flagged my account, not allowing me to make any purchases or payments. The first time they were concerned with the amount of deposits that were coming in, the second time they were concerned about the amount of times I used Apple Pay. I told them I run a business and accept and make consistent payments on that account and that it’s my main account. Their response was that they will put in a request to unblock my account and it may get done today. No urgency whatsoever. I let them know that this is my main account and that I can’t go an extended time without the ability to make purchases. Customer service was cold and refused to connect me with the department that was supposed to be handling unblocking my account. I called multiple times and each time the response was to just wait and they will get to it. Disappointed and disgusted by their response to this. My suggestion was that they actually call their customer if they had concerns before blocking their account, because this is a major disruption to my life
THE WORST
THE WORST! THEY ARE HOLDING MY MONEY ILLEGALLY! CANNOT GET ANYONE ON THE LINE WHO CAN HELP. GETTING THE RUNAROUND. WILL BE SUING!
"Payment was deducted successfully
"Payment was deducted successfully, but my account has not been activated. KYC is still under review and support response is very slow. I request the team to check my case urgently and provide a proper update. Customers should not have to wait this long after completing payment......#succe-ssful,habit experience has been smooth so far
Etrade dedicated manager was contacted…
Etrade dedicated manager was contacted on Monday, no call as of Friday after multiple calls and emails. I called again today, no response. the person who tried to help was ineffective, do yourself a favor and go to Schwab, Fidelity or Robinhood, much more responsive.
Can't access my own account! Horrible customer service.
Tried to get 2 IRA accounts transferred to beneficiary accounts. First one took about a month. Second one was a nightmare. EXTREMELY poor customer service. Once they finally transferred the assets, they put in the incorrect social security number and could not get me access or visibility to the account. They gave me a userid and password which did not work. Spent an hour on the phone, and they claimed the userid and password didn't work because of the incorrect social security number, which made no sense at all. Basically said 'they'll fix it within 24 hours'. NOT GOOD ENOUGH! From what I can tell, the money has dissappeared. Completely ridiculous that I have no access to my own account!
Can't log into my account, no fix
Their system refuses to recognize the phone number that I provided when setting up my account as being valid for two factor authentication. So I cannot log into my account. It refuses to send a code to that phone number. Even the customer service rep who works for eTrade said he's been dealing with the same thing on his own account for over a month trying to get it fixed. They said their third party provider doesn't associate my phone number with me, even though I PROVIDED IT WHEN SETTING UP MY ACCOUNT AND I'M CALLING THEM FROM THAT NUMBER. Use a different bank, this sucks.
Website Sucks
Tried to set up a savings account with their $400 promo cash deal but spent over an hour trying to upload pictures of myself, driver's license, SS card and all but my underwear size and couldn't get their system to let me upload anything so I gave up. Some other establishment will enjoy the $100k I was trying to give them!!
Badly Designed Web Platform
The trading experience online is miserable. When i click to sell a stock, it doesnt tell me how many shares i have TO SELL on that page so I HAVE TO OPEN ANOTHER TAB.
Its like they dont even use it themselves, avoiding this place gonna move my money somewhere better
Robert Lyford was rude
Robert Lyford was rude, and unprofessional.
He didn't try to understand my question.
He did enroll a promotion without asking for permission.
He responded very slow.
He closed the chat immediately without solving the issue.
This is very bad customer service.
This app is so bad
This app is so bad. It keeps selling and canceling stock sales for tax payment within my company stock plan. Today the main account is just unavailable to see like if there was a backend error. Not very confidence inspiring. I called support and they said to check with my employer haha they dont have a clue on what is happening. I am so excited for them to be going out of business once everyone gets to use a different service that is actually usable! I hate that, it’s unacceptable. Total failure in the most basic test of confidence that should be the very fundation of the banking system. Would put 0 or negative starts if I could. Do t use them, for instance robinhood is 1000x better and never lags, service is also way better.
Simple account update turns into Year long cluster F*c*!
Need to update my individual Etrade acct to a joint acct.
You make a change like this by submitting a PDF form.
I used to work at an online brokerage so I know exactly what a request like this entails, it's a simple and common request.
Here's the issue; I submit the form through the portal.
Etrade's Principal Review Desk reviews it, and they find an item that they have a question about.
They put the entire review on hold .. BUT THEY DO NOT inform the client in any way that the review is on hold.
I call in week later to ask for an update, the CS person tells me about their question and I provide an answer.
They restart the review again and find something else that they have question about, they put the review on HOLD again, but they DO NOT inform me.
I call in again a week later for an update and provide the answer.
Repeat several times until a month passes and the form is now stale and has to be resubmitted.
This has been happening for more than a year and I'm now being asked to re-submitted the form for the forth time, while I answer the SAME questions repeatedly.
And keep in mind, NONE of the items they are asking about are errors on my part. Here's one; on the employment section of the form I state that I am no longer working. They put the update on hold, and when I call in I'm told they are asking: Well you used to work, are you really retired? Me: Yes I am really retired.
Their portal has a secure message system where they could actually let clients know if there is a problem and ask their questions, but apparently it's only used for rejections?
I've had to put a recurring appointment on my calendar for a weekly call to Etrade for this matter.
The CS people I talk to on the phone are trying to be helpful, but they all promise to keep an keep on the issue and get back to me if there is an update, and none of them have followed through.
So I'm left to wonder if whoever runs the Principal Review Desk is:
-Going to leave the company soon and has completely checked out.
-Or they have some unknown vendetta against me and will fabricate any reason to not approve this request.
-Or it's just an amateur clown show.
What's the solution? I have an acct at Etrade but my main acct is at Morgan Stanley. I talked to my MS broker and he is going to try to work a back end request to get this done (and BTW he wasn't surprised to hear about this level of incompetence at Etrade). So if you need to get a simple change done at Etrade, and don't have help on the inside... good luck!!
Stay away from ETrade
Worst website, false promises, poor customer service..feels like they have systems built in 1900s
I do not understand why it takes DAYS…
I do not understand why it takes DAYS to get your new account verified and activated. It's ridiculous and frustrating! ETrade waists valuable trading time for investors. I should have gone with another broker.
I recently placed an investment request…
I recently placed an investment request and noticed some figures that didn't quite add up. I bought a stock with them, but the system displayed a much higher costs basis, and the profit details didn't match what I expected based on the past trades of the same stock. I'm still watching to see if it corrects itself over time. With gcasco...llc things tend to feel more straightforward in my experience, and I do appreciate that steady, easy to follow approach when I use it.
Stay clear away
Stay clear away. Worst trading platform on Earth. Their systems are full of glitches and they take ZERO accountability and can give ZERO explanation for their glitches NOR do they try to fix their system. And they are VERY dismissive of customers. What they do is tantamount to theft. They don't even bother to look into your inquiry. Just a disgusting platform to trade on. There is no way I'm sticking with Etrade. Can't wait to move my entire relationship account elsewhere.
I have been with e trade for over 7…
I have been with e trade for over 7 years as a platinum member, if this even matters. I called about getting access to space x IPO weeks before the day of IPO, I was told to do something online and come to find out it was just a notification. Today day of launch I was told I could fill out an application for the next IPO. No I am sorry, the response was well I wasn’t the one who you talked to. Not to mention do not have margin with them either, they constantly change things on you with out even a call and will sell half of your shares. Horrible company.
