Pretty sure this company is in the scamming business.
They send you the kit and tell you to register on the website and then send in the DNA sample.
What they don’t tell you is that the free “trial” starts ticking from the moment you register while the actual result is not available 6-8 weeks after.
Based on the company’s HQ location, why am I not surprised?

**Forced subscription, unauthorized charge, and an extremely frustrating cancellation process**
I purchased a MyHeritage DNA kit because I wanted the DNA kit — nothing more. However, during the purchase process, a subscription was pushed on me in a way that seemed impossible to avoid.
As soon as I realized that purchasing the kit involved a subscription, I cancelled it immediately. I received confirmation of my cancellation, including a message saying they were sorry to see me go and that I could continue using the service free for one month. My understanding from this confirmation was very clear: after that month, my subscription would end and I would not be charged or renewed.
To my surprise, one month later I received an invoice for almost €200 for an annual subscription, and my card was charged.
I logged into my MyHeritage account to find out what had happened and how to cancel, only to discover that **there was no active subscription shown on my account at all**. Nevertheless, my card had been charged for a yearly subscription that I had already cancelled and had not consented to renewing.
I then spent almost an hour clicking through the website trying to find a clear way to resolve the problem or contact someone. Eventually, out of sheer frustration, I went to Facebook, found MyHeritage there, contacted them, and finally received an email address where I could submit my complaint.
This entire experience has been enormously time-consuming and frustrating. I find this subscription and cancellation process misleading, unnecessarily difficult, and completely unacceptable. A customer who cancels a subscription and receives confirmation of that cancellation should not subsequently be charged almost €200 — particularly when their own account shows no active subscription.
I bought a DNA kit. I did not agree to pay almost €200 for a yearly service I had explicitly cancelled.
Purchased a test at a special offer price which was much cheaper than the alternatives and am looking forward to the results. Only issue is that you have to set up an account, which I understand is needed to get your results, but this automatically enrols you in a free trial to the genealogy website, which in itself is fine but unless you remember to cancel your free trial you get billed over £100 for a years membership. When registering i couldn't find a way to do this without opting in to the trial and I subsequently forgot about it until today when I got notification that payment had been taken from my account. I would have at least expected a reminder that the free trial was ending giving me the option to cancel. I now have an expensive membership I don't want. Not Impressed that an offer for a discounted DNA test has ended but costing me nearly £130 in total.

Hannah worked tirelessly to help me to understand the offer she was presenting. She was so patient while I kept asking questions. She wanted to be sure I was comfortable with the final decision. A blessing to your team!!!

I really like the customer service guy. He was so nice. I really enjoyed talking to him that I really want to work for Heritage. My background is in history ancient history. I studied DNA and for decades and I am a teacher, but I would love to get out and work for something interesting remotely or in person
Your representative took the time I needed to understand. He slowed down his speach and answered my questions.
Nathan explained everything and answered all of my questions.

A nice conversation with good information. Daniel was a good seller for your company. Take care of him.
Tohar is Superman! I had doubts about the whole aspect of what MyHeritage was offering based on some patterns I was seeing in how the subscriptions plans were offered. However, Tohar was easy to talk to and made me feel heard. His service is top-notch and I feel much better about my choice after speaking with him.

I had a great experience chatting with Mr Nadav. He explained all the plan options and the benefits of each one in detail, which made it easy for me to choose the option that best suited my needs. I would rate the service as highly professional.
Looking forward to receive my DNA results and fine my knowledge of ancestry.

Went above and beyond. I was very guarded receiving a call from an unknown number. The support provided went above and beyond. This is an employee who is truly passionate about genealogy. He deserves recognition.

With the call coming in from a 'Private' number I was suspicious that this was going to be a scam caller, so I was not the most engaged from the outset.
The staff member was patient, explained what was on offer and didn't push me into purchasing anything that I didn't want to purchase.
His patience paid off as I am now an Omni member for the next year at least.
