Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 374 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently reported extreme difficulty in reaching human customer service, often encountering unhelpful automated systems, chatbots, or being disconnected. Many people found the support to be severely lacking, with issues remaining unresolved and staff unable to provide effective assistance. This often led to significant frustration, including problems with account access and other related issues. However, some customers also noted instances where they received helpful and effective support from human agents. These positive experiences often involved agents who were courteous, attentive, and successfully resolved specific technical issues.

Frustrated Student

I am required to use Microsoft products for my university studies, and unfortunately, my experience with Microsoft Office has been terrible.

When MS couldn't help call was ended mid-conversation and MS claimed the issue was resolved when it was not..

After finally getting through to a representative including navigating staff who spoke too fast and garbled for my impaired hearing, eventually gained assistance from a polite advisor.
.
To be be fair the advisor spent much time on the first issue but was unable to solve the first problem.
.
Partway through the second issue (with which he was also struggling) the call was ended (not by me).
.
In taking my details for such a dropped-call scenario and while confirming my telephone number, Microsoft had been made aware of the ACR /Call Guardian on my number.
.
Except Microsoft chose not to call back.
.
To add insult to injury an e-mail was received from Microsoft a few days stating my issue had been resolved so was being closed.
.
IT WAS NOT RESOLVED
.
It was explained to Microsoft this was not the case and the issue remained ongoing.
.
This was fed back to Microsoft who just ignored it.
.
Just because customers have disabilities is not an excuse for proffering poor and ableist service Microsoft!

Thanks to Microsoft for shielding criminal activity by blocking emails sent to "abuse@" addresses.

It protects hosting providers and administrators of platforms, sites, domains, etc., against reports of spam, phishing, and other issues sent to "abuse@" email addresses. It amounts to deliberate complicity—while victims see their lives ruined!

"We couldn’t deliver your message to several recipients.
A custom mail flow rule created by an administrator on nrtccoop.onmicrosoft.com blocked your message.
Offensive words

A mail administrator on nrtccoop.onmicrosoft.com created a custom mail flow rule that blocks messages meeting certain conditions. It appears that one or more of these conditions were met in your message.
Review the text above to see a custom message from the mail administrator explaining why your message was blocked and how you can resolve the issue. For example, removing prohibited words or sending the message from a different email account might be enough to get your message delivered.
If you have tried to resolve the issue without success, consider contacting the mail administrator at nrtccoop.onmicrosoft.com for guidance. Although it is unlikely that the administrator will remove or relax the rule, they may be able to tell you how to proceed to get your message delivered if it is legitimate."

Microsoft has recently disabled Office…

Microsoft has recently disabled Office 2021 for legacy users. Opening documents now demand that the user activate the program, even after using it for years. But when you try to activate it using the license purchased from Microsoft it returns an 0x0 error message and won't open the program. Customer support people go through reinstalling the program but finally admit that there is a problem on the back end, that is, with Microsoft. When you ask to escalate the problem to get engineers involved, they insist that you have to update your system software and talk with Apple. In other words, the company is refusing to fix a problem that has disabled Office 2021, even though they admit that it's their fault. Given how much people are dependent on this software, it is a catastrophe for many Microsoft users, and a violation of their commitment to fix their own mistakes made when purchasing Office 2021. This is not the fault of the customer service tech. It is the policy of Microsoft Corporation to refuse to escalate service and fix the disabling problem they have caused.

Horrible

Horrible, no help at all. Have a subscription for several years, suddenly can’t access to edit or write at all today. Says I need a subscription even though my subscription was confirmed. Spent 7 hours on the phone today with support who were no support at all. Tried everything to no avail. And charged $5.00 for the support call of which all I got was a baby crying in the background of a man who couldn’t help me. I have a small business and don’t really want to start handwriting invoices, packing slips, shipping labels, product instructions etc etc when Microsoft paid support can’t figure anything out. I have a Mac any alternative app advice is welcome.

AI Support that's as intelligent as a Mycoplasma

I am a Mac user and my Mac was set up by a friend who is a PC user. Today I needed help because my business 365 account and my personal 365 account has become somehow merged. No matter what I do I cannot retrieve my business letters and spreadsheets. I am only presented with my personal documents even though I have logged out of my personal account and ensured I am logged in with my business account. So I called 0800 026 0329. OH MY GOD! After 7 different calls over a 2 hour period, I finally learned how to tell lies enough for the system to connect me to a human being. Another waste of time. They will only speak to the global administrator for. my account who is a type guy that set up my Mac all those years ago and he is no longer with us! TOTAL REFUSAL to help me! So here I am with my small business and cannot retrieve any of my recent documents and I am employing a Mac specialist to help but he too had hot the brick wall where he needs to talk with Microsoft and because he is not the Global administrator and I don't know the global administrator password, Microsoft have told us to GO AWAY!

Worst customer support service ive ever seen.

If I could id give it a 0 star rating I would.
My account got stolen a few months back and I just cannot get it back for the life of me. How the F is it possible that my email, that has been associated with my mojang / minecraft accout, for 11 years, all of a sudden doesnt exist? WHY for the love of god, does this huge, greedy company not keep my email in their dumbass database, and when someone hacks your account, they can just check their history and return the account to its rightful owner?
If only every customer support could be like steam.

Microsoft seems to no longer care about their customers. I’ve paid for customer support for years but now when I need it there is none. The AI generated texts have nothing to do with what I need help with.

Worst company ever.

Microsoft Outlook is a Disaster - Don't do it!

Years ago my Outlook email account locked me out and I could not ever get back in, no matter how many times I tried, no matter how long I waited between tries. Microsoft's "customer service" was not helpful. I chalked it up to "user error" on my part, cut my losses and (foolishly) created a new Outlook email account. I re-established contacts and did my best to replace my email wherever it was attached to accounts, but we lost access to our home security system because I could not get into my locked email, so ultimately it was costly. FF a few years to today, and for whatever random reason, my Outlook email locked me out a 2nd time. Initially it was "incorrect passcode", which is weird because I haven't changed my PW, but ok, I'll change it if it means getting into my email. Then when I enter the code they send me so I can change my PW, they want another code. I enter the 2nd code and I get, "this service is unavailable at this time, try back later". Seriously? So I go through the whole process later and I get, "this page cannot be accessed, try to refresh" (ha.) Finally my tech-savvy husband gets involved. After multiple attempts from both of us, the account ends up in the same graveyard as my first email with, "you cannot access this account, you have made too many attempts".

Freaking. maddening. I already know from past experience - waiting days, then weeks between attempts - that this is the end of it. Searching Microsoft "help center" does no good - in order to fix it I'm supposed to log in to the email account I'm having trouble with, LMAO. I'm beyond frustrated and permanently switching away from Outlook.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. Tried so many times to get through to a person but it was just AI and it was useless. I spent an hour and a half chat messaging them for them to just say I’m sorry we’re experiencing technical difficulties. Absolutely rubbish. No matter how hard I tried they wouldn’t let me chat on voice call to a human being

Truly the worst customer support of any…

Truly the worst customer support of any company. Since they have a monopoly on corporations and government purchases they do whatever they want. You can’t get a hold of them no matter how hard you try. Do NOT give them money. Do not trust this company.

Microsoft's Big Tech Tyranny

Microsoft's hard line on installation of the Microsoft Authenticator app is nothing but big tech tyranny.

Asked a simple question: "where do I enter my recovery email address". That was several weeks and myriad email exchanges ago.

There is, apparently, no alternative to the app. For those with "dumb" phones- GOOD LUCK!

MICROSOFT SUPPORT

I have been on hold for over 3 1/2 hours with no end in sight. I am attempting to resolve a printer problem caused by a Microsoft system update. As soon as my subscription expires it is hello Linux Mint. I have had enough of Bill Gates thinking he is the customer.

As a business user

As a business user, I can't believe how poor Microsoft support is. Closed two of our emails with no notification and there seems to be no way to get these reinstated. Our tech partners have tried everything they can, with their Microsoft partners telling all of us to just try the same failing helpline. Just points you to AI bots that can't help. Madness and a rsik to our business. We will never use again.
