Ok but.......

Ok but.......

Been a Broadband customer for a few years. Recently switched to Sky for much cheaper price and faster speeds. Talktalk were well priced at the start but things change and as consumers so can we.

Firstly, on starting the switch I was inundated with calls from Talktalk. No doubt from a retentions department as just left a robotic voicemail each time claiming they had to confirm something with me. Literally 40 calls in a few days. Irritating to say the least. If it was urgent and necessary they would write to you.

Finally, today received a returns bag to send my router back. Saving the planet and potentially avoiding a £50 charge. All good but the returns bag is comical. I am saving the planet and they send a bag (and I am not exaggerating) bigger than a builders rubble bag. The router does not fill 5% of the bag. It looks so ridiculous I feel I have to cellotape the bag up to make it look like a parcel and easier for the Post Office to handle. Save the planet but use 95% too much plastic and must cost more.

If this review does more to save the planet than a used router all good.

Broadband switch....

Broadband switch..... so far as smooth as silk

Moved from Talktalk and the switch was perfect. Signed up and within an hour had paperwork and switch date about a week in the future. Router arrived a few days before go live. Went live last night within 30 minutes of the suggested time. Works perfectly. Speeds are amazing and alot cheaper than Talktalk.

If the compare site incentives, sign up gift and early termination cover comes through as promised this will be a great switch for me.

I will update as things progress.

Still waiting......

Still waiting......

..... for a response to my simple operational question which is now with the complaints team.

Aside of that I received my Annual Statement (faint hope the envelope contained an answer to my question but no) which appears to be signed off by Customer Services Director Kevin Martin, who I read left Peoples Pension in 2024 and now works WillisTowers. If that is the case then very sloppy indeed.

I assume he would be aghast his name is being used two years on.

Update:

Still can't answer a simple tax question. The forth or fifth holding email today. Anybody with a basic understanding of personal tax and more importantly the algorithms used by People Pension should answer this in minutes. Yet I am amost two months into raising this point.

Why do I need to email another department to get a response. My complaint reference is E26/32032 if you want to look into it.

My next email will be to the financial ombudsmans service. Next week for your information as your 8 week window will be up. Ridiculous.

Review of People's Pension

The silence is deafening

I felt I have to leave some negative feedback for Peoples Pension if only to wake them up.

All I want to know is what my tax code is within their own system that calculates the deduction of tax. I was taxed recently on a month 1 basis when I have never been taxed this way previously. As a result I did not benefit from my expected tax repayment and my cashflow was severely impacted.

I have asked the same question four times and had responses from four customer services executives. None answer the question, and my concern is they do not even understand the question. It is very basic tax knowledge and information that should be on fingertips to answer. Simply sprouting on about 'emergency tax' and 'contact HMRC' is not enough. I have confirmation from HMRC and it contradicts what is in the Peoples Pension system. The lastest drawdown confirmation also quotes a standard tax code, no mention of month 1, so why apply a month 1 basis on the transaction.

I have now escalated to a complaint so lets see if the understanding is any stronger up the tree.

I do not understand why my tax code given to them by HMRC is not visible in my own account area.

Lots of new photos on the landing page, and copious requests for feedback is new, so I sense there has been a change in the customer services leaders. Perhaps a little less window dressing and more engine room is needed.

If I conclude this is a lost cause I will not hesitate to walk away from this firm.

I am not sure if the behaviour is lack or knowledge or covering up a mistake.

Update:
Just a series of holding emails assuring me my case is being looked into. I must be six weeks in. This really is a very simple question I am asking. How can I confidently access my pension when I have no idea how the tax regime is going to be applied from transaction to transaction. If this really takes months to answer this is very worrying in itself. I have lost confidence in this provider.

Also I recall reading a comment saying they aim to respond within 3 days. Well they do but it is a standard response saying you may have to wait up to two months for a reply. Then you receive emails every fortnight telling you they will respond within two weeks. The cycle repeats every two weeks. As soon as I hit eight weeks I go to the Financial Onbudsman Service.

Comedy rewards system

Comedy rewards system. Can't log in and you just go through a loop of processes. I had to call the helpline and I was told to call back and choose another option. Couldn't even transfer me or deal with it. Plus the lady as nice as she was was obviously in a far away call centre where English is not in the top 10 languages of that country. Took 5 minutes to relay my email address correctly. Don't bother shop elsewhere.

Just bought a policy with breakdown…

Just bought a policy with breakdown cover. I cannot see any information on the breakdown part other than quoting it is with RAC. Policy starts in a few days so tried the Online Chat help to get the details. Sods law if you breakdown it will be on day one.

Chat Help does not launch. Contact us does nothing either.

My policy number is 139239645 01 if you would like to get in touch.

Not a great start.

Update:

Made a decision to get rid of my car so I cancelled the policy. A final account was flashed up on the screen with a £60 admin fee thrown in.

After 8 days not received the refund of around £300. Went in to check the actual amount today and the final account is not shown on any screen. I have no email detailing the final account make up and as I said no refund in my bank account.

The chat button is still on the website for decoration. It does nothing. The contact us does nothing but take you to a Q&A page. The most invisible company I have ever used.

Appears the only contact is through Trustpilot when you are having a pop.

Any update as to where my refund is would be much appreciated. And once settled I will not darken your door again.

Thank you for getting in touch, and I’m sorry to hear about the difficulties you’ve experienced accessing the breakdown information and the online chat. I appreciate how frustrating this must be, especially before your policy has even started.

I’m also sorry for the inconvenience caused by the system issues you’ve encountered when trying to view your cover details. I understand how important it is to have full clarity on your breakdown cover ahead of your start date.

We’ll be in touch shortly to help you and ensure you have all the information you need regarding your breakdown cover and what’s included in your policy.

Please please sort out the hot water…

Please please sort out the hot water issues at Highgrove Gym Ruislip.

For months now cold showers the majority of the time. Then you get the odd day when it almost takes the skin off your body it is so hot.

I don't think the hugely invested heat exchanger in the car park is doing anything. It has been years now since this project started. If that is hindering spend on the basic boiler provision then you are focusing on the wrong thing.

Cold showers in July you can live with. Cold showers on Boxing Day is not on.

I also saw a poster about price increases on display today. I am paid up until May so I am not going to worry about that for now. But, if the showers are not sorted by then I won't renew and I am sure that applies to many others.

The gym is used by many elderly people trying to stay active. Subjecting them to cold showers is very poor. Boilers are not rocket science just get it sorted.

You throw around fines when you miss a session maybe we can fine you in return for lack of hot water.

Temu is an interesting proposition

Temu is an interesting proposition. I have made around 10 orders and on the whole it has been flawless.

Quality of items is very good but variable. If you buy things that are cheap but reasonable prices you are fine. I have £11 golf trousers that are amazing and would cost £40+ elsewhere. If you buy something that looks unbelievable you will likely be disappointed. If you pay £2 for 50 microfibre cloths then they will be low quality but functional in the short term.

Delivery times are around two weeks and some bulky items can take a month. If it is urgent then go elsewhere. If time is not an issue then no issue.

I have had two damaged items that were reasonably cheap. You load a photo and they refunded the price immediately and told me to keep the items. Simply uneconomical to return. They might have a different approach on higher value items. Tracking is very good and notifications are endless. Be aware some items are shipped from a UK shed and they charge P&P of £2. It does not fall under the free postage, even though your overall order meets the minimum level for 'free delivery'.

My biggest gripe is the follow-on discount offers. They are mind boggling. You are inundated with amazing looking offers. You then play something that feels like a Playstation game to get it activated and atthe end you have no idea what you have to do to realise the discount. Rules are provided but they read like a Open University maths question. In the end what should be a nice experience feels like smoke and mirrors and borderline scam. If you want to give a discount then give one. I am sure I have now withdrawn from any offers but I get notifications endlessly. I dream about clicking the button 'leave promotion'.

I would say give it a try and you will grab a bargain.

Originally booked for an MOT in…

Originally booked for an MOT in Ruislip. Tester was ill on the day so Ruislip found a space in nearby Uxbridge. Two calls and a text to alert me which is responsive. Attended Uxbridge and the service was top class. Seen at the assigned time. Reception was welcoming. Tester went out of his way to mention a couple of minor issues for attention in due course but neither a failure or advisory at this stage.

About my 5th year at Halfords and never felt things have been mentioned just to drive another sale or work not necessary needed being pushed on me.

This relates to the Highgrove site in…

This relates to the Highgrove site in Ruislip.

Overall the gym facilites are super quality. The class instructors are superb. Value for money is good.

What lets this place down is:

Month after month an awful smell of urine in the showers - it is terrible. Makes your eyes sting at times. I doubt users are relieving themselves in the showers, more so a drain issue.

We have a zillion pound space station being built in the car park (heat exchanger I assume) but they can't fix some relatively basic plumbing issues. I guess the space station is more PR friendly than basic amenities. You can't win awards for fixing basic plumbing.

Often no supplies in toilets. Grim, very grim. Users unable to clean themselves then sit on gym equipment. Sorry state.

We seem to have an abundance of bunting in the foyer advertising something. Any number of posters. Questionaires. QR codes. But no basic hygiene supplies.

The gym seems to double up as the local youth club. Appreciate it is a facility for all, but before 7pm it is often littered with kids doing little training and more playing around or showing off. I guess this is testament that youth clubs proper are a thing of the past. It is a shame for the youth of today.

Staff are okay. Generally young with an ego boosting walkie talkie in hand. Seem more interested in each other than users.

Finally, the sauna wrist band system is a complete joke and just creates plastic waste in the form of a wrist band. Nothing is policed, number are not controlled. Waste of money, time and energy buying wrist bands, putting them on and putting them in the bin.
