Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 117 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many found the AI-powered platform generated generic, inaccurate, and erratic outputs, failing to understand ideas or build production-quality applications. Customers encountered issues with the website and app, including previews not loading, constant breakdowns, corrupted edits, and broken interfaces. Moreover, customer support was widely criticized for being slow, unhelpful, non-existent, and often only providing automated bot responses. However, some customers found the tool effective for smaller tasks like building landing pages or prototypes, appreciating its initial user experience and ability to create basic designs.

Predatory

Was an actual fan of this platform, used it for months and spent quite a few hundred bucks in it but now? this thing is predatory at minimum, I just spent 25$ in two small changes in minutes. My codebase isn't even that big, there's zero backend code and this guys are charging me a lot of money for every tiny change I make in my app. Going to end the project and never do a single thing here

Disappointed - poor customer service

Product seems magic at first.
Then you get into troubles.
Bolt.new tells you it has the done the job. but it has not. But still uses your tokens.

When you complain, you face one of the worst Customer service I have ever seen for a software.

Instead of helping you, they tell you it is your fault...

So bad costumer support

So bad costumer support. You only get answered by AI.

Designed to drain tokens and expensive.

Deceitful marketing (Telling user they have free tokens to use for 48 hours - Then after using for a while you hit a limit)

Disappointing After Long Wait

Disappointing After Long Wait

It would be great if, after many minutes of creation, it suddenly didn't stop creating the application and leave it unfinished and with errors. I spent a lot of time preparing, only to end up with frustration and wasted time. Very disappointing experience.

Tried to register and login to bolt

Tried to register and login to bolt, but never got the confirmation email, that i needed to login. Tried multiple times, checked the spam folder - nothing. Contacted customer support for help, got a bot replies saying the same thing, (try again and check the spam folder.... GOD I KNOW). Asked to connected to a real person, no reply for a week. Never gonna touch this service again. I'll better try Cursor or Lovable

I've literally lost thousands on their hosting outages. We make marketing sales pages and host them on bolt. Several times in the middle of a $10,000 campaign, the site just crashes and you cannot get ahold of anyone. DO NOT HOST HERE. ONLY BUILD HERE. Then transfer it to a host that can actually support the traffic. It has cost us nearly $30k this month just because of the weak infrastructure.

Using Bolt i've built a prototype app…

Using Bolt i've built a prototype app in about 3 days at the cost of like $200 - something that would have taken weeks with a developer and costing far more. However, if Bolt had actioned half the things i'd asked it to, i'd have spent less. Consequently. Bolt is both VERY good and VERY bad at a few things. Sometimes it solves the most complex of issues, at other times it needs prompting many times to fix the same thing and argues with me that it's done, when it's clearly not and has been forgotten. Simple things like replacing an image file, or API keys - telling me they are / are not there, when the opposite is true. I have had several issues resurface, both API and UI led, and despite trying to bookmark and signpost the known fix, Bolt ignores . It can be very frustrating at times, but at others i see traction beyond what a Developer would have provided.
All this said - I'm now at the point where i've deployed a usable POC that i can use for pitching with. It's pretty robust and does enough of a job to demonstrate what i'm trying to build. I'd never have gotten this far on my own and probably wouldn't have fronted the £20k of equivalent dev time to get something running. Bolt seems to have security well handled but even so some of my API keys were exposed and had to be moved. Some of the files got quite big so needed to be refactored - might be what causes the 'goldfish' effect when prompting to fix the same problem over and over.
i'd not be so comfortable going beyond beta for all of these reasons - i don't trust that the app would work at scale. The app def needs pen testing, and there will be plenty of edge case bugs that i just got fed up trying to fix - but i've got enough now to test my app with a small user group, and then hand over to a proper dev if i'm able to validate.
I dislike the whole marketing bait tack that vibe code tools are going down; 'build and publish in a day and start making money tomorrow' - because it's clearly not that easy, or safe to do. but i'm a lot further down the line as a result of this tool.

Paid for Pro twice, service unusable, still waiting for full refund

I subscribed to Bolt Pro hoping to use it seriously in my workflow, but unfortunately the platform was largely unusable for me.

I faced multiple blocking issues:
• Could not connect my main GitHub account due to OAuth/redirect errors
• Had to create a second GitHub account just to proceed
• Frequent failures when importing or working with existing repositories
• Larger projects and builds consistently breaking

Because of these issues, I ended up paying twice ($25 + $25) while trying to make the platform work. After requesting a refund, only $25 was returned.

Support confirmed that the request for the remaining $25 was forwarded to a teammate, but since then I’ve received no response and no resolution.

At this point, I’m still waiting for the remaining refund for a service that was never usable. Very disappointing experience
