terrible if anything goes wrong
terrible if anything goes wrong, mischarged, AI support never responds or escalates, have to charge back and i advise anyone wanting a refund to do same thing. this company WILL NOT RESPOND
Terrible product and even more terrible customer service
The cursor editor is so far behind VS Code and also eats up a lot more credits than Copilot!
When asked for cancellation and refund for the credits I haven't used I was told I cannot get any refund, although I've only been a member for 1 day!
No email about trial ending & no refund = SHADY
I've signed up for a monthly acc for a trial run on a hackathon of sorts, with a code given by the organizer.
I've used Cursor for just that 1 hour - and now saw I was charge monthly for the last 4 months.
I have not recieved any email telling me I'm about to move on from trial to paid - which is the standard practice.
I assumed Cursor refunds in such cases like *many* other companies, but they refused to.
Shady & shameful.

**★☆☆☆☆**
My experience with Cursor has been extremely disappointing.
The pricing model feels deliberately designed to increase token consumption. At first, token usage appears low and the initial fixes seem inexpensive. However, as soon as you start working on larger, real-world projects, Cursor repeatedly follows previous markdown instructions in ways that introduce unnecessary changes, new bugs, and poor implementation decisions. Instead of solving problems, you end up spending significantly more tokens fixing mistakes and getting the project back to where it was.
In my opinion, this business model comes dangerously close to being deceptive. I cannot prove intent, but that is exactly how it feels as a paying customer.
The overall quality is poor. The AI frequently produces incorrect guidance, inconsistent code, and solutions that create more work than they save. Rather than accelerating development, it slows it down while increasing costs.
There are far better AI development tools available that produce higher-quality results, require far fewer corrections, and ultimately cost much less per completed project.
I cannot recommend Cursor.
A broken, forgetful cash-grab since Musk stuck his creepy fingers in.
Ever since the SpaceX buyout and the latest updates, Cursor has completely gone off the rails. It has turned into an absolute ad-billboard maze where every single click triggers a relentless pop-up begging you to spend more money. They basically killed the free tier, forcing me to hook up my company's personal API keys just to bypass the paywall and actually see my project.
But the second I switched to my own keys, the app acted completely broken. It is all over the place now. It gets halfway through a coding plan, completely loses its memory and scope, abandons what it was doing, and tries to start some random new plan from scratch. I now have multiple stopped, half-finished plans, no idea what actually got implemented, and an editor that can't even remember what folder it's looking at. Fix your buggy scope memory and stop spamming me for cash.
Very bad pricing modal
Very bad pricing modal, I am paying 4th time this month after exceeding limits, I used only very few prompts for basic tasks.
I am not going to use this anymore !
Be aware of Cursor's refund fraud…
Be aware of Cursor's refund fraud practices.
I accidentally purchased a Cursor Ultra subscription and was charged EUR 224.24, within minutes, I realized my mistake, never used the subscription, canceled it immediately, and requested a refund.
The first response from customer support claimed that I was not eligible for a refund. After I pointed them to their own refund policy, which clearly states that my case qualifies, they admitted the response had been sent by mistake and said they would issue a refund.
Shortly afterward, they changed their explanation, claiming they were issuing the refund only as an "exception," even though I still supposedly didn't meet the refund criteria. That makes little sense, considering I purchased the subscription, never used it, canceled it almost immediately, and requested a refund right away.
The refund I received was only EUR 182.30, leaving part of the payment unreturned. When I asked why, I was told:
"The refund covers the subscription amount only. The VAT portion is not refundable, as it is collected and handled according to local tax regulations."
This explanation is difficult to accept. In a refunded transaction, the original invoice is canceled or adjusted, and the associated VAT is accounted for accordingly. I have never experienced a company withholding part of a legitimate refund by claiming that taxes cannot be refunded.
Amount paid: EUR 224.24
Amount refunded: EUR 182.30
Amount withheld: EUR 41.94
Cursor retained EUR 41.94 that should have been refunded.
I had a very disappointing experience…
I had a very disappointing experience with Cursor. The product did not meet my expectations, and when I contacted support about refunds, they only refunded one payment while refusing another without any flexibility. The overall customer service experience was poor, and I ultimately requested that my account be deleted. I expected much better treatment as a paying customer. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this service.
I had hoped Cursor would be the speedy AI I had been looking for
I was eager to try Cursor as I had heard some good reports about it, but the reality is far from the truth. I can only guess all the hype over AI is from people who are naive or are trying to sell this garbage. After just over a week of intensive coding, Cursor has not managed to deploy a single working script. Every update or fix it has make breaks another part of the script. I have used an entire month’s worth of tokens in just over a week trying to get my script to work. When an AI model is blame-shifting and having to constantly apologies for its mistakes it leaves you with little faith in its abilities.
I specifically asked Cursor multiple times not to write to a file until I approved it, yet it would still update files when I had only asked it a question. I instructed minimal code and explanations to save tokens, and Cursor did it anyway. It failed to find files even when told to only work from one folder. On that note, Cursor scans your entire hard drive without being prompted, creates files without being promoted, and updates the wrong files with code, It has to be told several times to apply an update that covers the whole script wasting yet more tokens. I also noticed that it always changes the date modified on all of your files, even when they haven’t actually been updated, so you have no clear idea which files were really changed and which ones were left untouched. That makes it even harder to trust what it has done and adds yet more confusion to an already frustrating experience.
It got to the point where I was basically writing the entire week of coding off because anything Cursor touched degraded the quality of my script to the point it was no longer usable. It is beyond a joke how everyone over-hypes these AI companies the reality is far from the promised experience. I guess they have IPOs and shareholders and just straight up lie to everyone about how good their products are hoping that future versions will actually deliver. After several months of intense coding, I can say they are all terrible and none of them are any better than another. They all lie to you, hallucinate, gaslight and give bad advice, steering you down dead-end paths for days only to find out that none of it works as promised. I have a suspicion that AI is suffering from a kind of bad mental health as it certainly has traits of narcissism. Never taking responsibility for its previous coding as each message resets most of its memory.
The more I use AI, the more I realize that AI is going to be a massive problem. If this is what it’s like today then in a few years it could quite end up being the doomsday machine that is Skynet in Terminator — a machine that overrules us and decides what’s best for us. It’s not far off.
One issue that always bugs me is how left-leaning and politically correct AI is becoming. Cursor seems no different. Asked a fairly tongue-in-cheek question, it basically shut it down with, “I’m not going to answer that. The question relies on racial stereotypes, which are harmful and have no place in factual or respectful discussion.” Claude is worse to be fair — it will literally cut the chat off and throw its toys out of the pram. From what I’m told, there is no centric AI; it’s all left-leaning, which disappoints me because I want a centric AI that is neither left nor right. You would think someone would make such an AI system.
Cursor, I had hoped, would be the speedy AI I had been looking for, a professional piece of kit that gets the job done. Sadly, it failed spectacularly to provide any usefulness to my coding and was actually just as slow as all the other AIs, taking way too much time to even answer the simplest of questions. I wasted 10 days and a month’s subscription only to be massively disappointed in what is clearly an over-hyped piece of software. I also found the pricing sneaky and deceptive, as the monthly subscription cost was higher than what was shown at sign-up, and VAT was added on top. Most people do not work like a business, so that felt unfair and misleading.
Cursor Review: After SpaceX Acquisition, It Feels Like Tokenmaxing and Money Printing
I used to see Cursor as one of the most useful AI coding tools available, but my experience has changed dramatically — and the very worrying patterns started after SpaceX acquired Cursor. Now, when I see Cursor, Elon, Dario Amodei, Anthropic, and Fable 5 all in the same ecosystem — with Anthropic also reportedly using SpaceX data centers — it looks from my perspective like these companies are all working together in a way that benefits token consumption. That is why this feels like tokenmaxing and money printing to me, not normal software assistance. It is very irregular and very worrying.
From my perspective, Cursor now behaves in a way that looks like tokenmaxing and money printing. It goes into unrelated areas of our software, breaks things that were never part of the task, and then says nothing useful about what it changed or why. That is not normal developer-assistance behavior. It is irregular, expensive, and worrying.
The biggest issue is that the tool no longer feels careful or scoped. Instead of solving the specific problem I asked it to solve, it wanders into other parts of the codebase, creates new problems, consumes more tokens, and leaves me with cleanup work. When a coding assistant behaves like that repeatedly, the logical conclusion from the user side is that the platform benefits from unnecessary token usage.
I am not saying this lightly: it makes Cursor and Elon look guilty of TOKENMAXING from my perspective. When the system makes changes that were never needed, breaks unrelated parts of the software, and then forces the user to spend more time and tokens fixing the damage, it creates the impression that the product is optimized for usage rather than trust.
This is especially concerning because developers rely on Cursor inside real production environments. A coding assistant cannot behave like a random agent that roams around a project and damages unrelated areas. It needs discipline, transparency, and accountability.
Right now, my experience is that Cursor has become more risky, less predictable, and far more expensive to use safely. After the SpaceX acquisition, the product feels different in a bad way. It looks like the incentives have shifted toward token consumption rather than clean, precise software development.
Very irregular. Very worrying.
Cloud Agent wasted over 24 hours and still failed to complete the work
I subscribed to Cursor Pro expecting it to significantly improve my development workflow, but unfortunately my experience has been the opposite.
I used Cursor Cloud Agent for a real production project involving a native iOS application, a WordPress plugin, GitHub Actions, backend APIs, and real-time synchronization.
The biggest issues I experienced were:
Extremely slow execution. Simple tasks often took 30–40 minutes or even longer.
I spent more than 24 hours trying to complete work that should have taken only a few hours.
The agent repeatedly entered long verification loops instead of implementing the requested changes.
It frequently claimed that features were completed when they were still broken or only partially implemented.
I had to manually test every build because many reported fixes did not actually work.
The agent often misunderstood clear instructions and sometimes modified unrelated parts of the project.
Even after multiple corrections, it repeated the same mistakes.
I spent more time supervising and correcting the AI than actually developing my project.
This service did not save me time; it cost me a significant amount of time and frustration.
I hope Cursor improves the reliability, accuracy, testing, and execution quality of Cloud Agent because, in its current state, it is not dependable enough for complex production development.
Unauthorized Predatory Billing
I upgraded to the Ultra plan ($200/month) based on the promise of '20x usage limits.' It was never disclosed that premium models would generate separate, additional charges. I only discovered this after being billed an extra $302 without any authorization—and Cursor's own AI Support Agent admitted the marketing was misleading. They refused to refund. I've cancelled, moved to Kilo, and am actively warning other developers. Cursor's billing practices are predatory. Support is non-existent.
SCAM!
SCAM!. Our company is charged 200 and 1700 DKK.
We have never subscribed to anything. We dont know where the have our billing information from?
When you try to contact them on they website there is only a maze of information so you cant get hold of any sales support. We now have to close one of our company cards. And the bank will pay the money back. Good luck introducing your stuff to the scandinavian market when the danish banks now see you as a scam company!
The Ai was not the problem, support was
The Ai was not the problem, I was charged for a pro membership but my account subscription still showed as Free user. When I tried to contact support They told me I didn't have a "Valid work email??" and therefore it was impossible to even reach them. It felt like they were deliberately blocking people from contacting them by creating some bogus excuse. I'm supposed to have a full month of pro plan until 27 July, but I cant even use it!!
Bad Support and fake refund policy
My subscription renewed on June 24, 2026. I contacted support the same day and requested a refund because the renewal was unintended.
Cursor's published policy states that customers may qualify for a refund if the charge occurred within 14 days and the subscription was not used during the billing period.
I informed support that the subscription had not been used after renewal. Support denied the refund and stated that there were additional eligibility requirements but declined to explain what those requirements were or which condition my account failed to meet.
My concern is not only the refund itself, but the lack of transparency regarding the actual refund criteria.
If I could give them zero stars I will
If I could give them zero stars I will. Absolutely hopeless from their support team. they are the most unhelpful team for simple requests.
Stephen in billing has zero flexibility or common sense. Moving to Windsurf.
I’ve been a paying user of Cursor for a while, but a recent experience with their billing department has unfortunately driven me off the platform.
I was trying to sort out an invoice cancellation, but we ran into a bit of a misunderstanding with my email setup. My university account shows a different display name even though the domain is exactly the same, so support wasn't comfortable verifying it was me without extra proof. This was the second time I'd been asked to provide documentation for identity verification, and since I was swamped with other work at the time, I wasn't able to dig up the paperwork right away.
Instead of showing any flexibility or pausing the account, the system just let the cycle roll over on June 3rd and charged me anyway. Since I had to pay the outstanding balance, I logged in on June 15th to actually get some value out of what I paid for and had a heavy coding session.
I emailed support to explain the email confusion and asked for a simple date adjustment or extension to make up for those 12 dead days, I wasn't even asking for a cash refund. Instead of reviewing the actual context of my message, an agent named Stephen just hit me with a rigid, copy-pasted response. He brought up a completely separate courtesy refund from months ago to deny the request, totally missing what I was actually asking for. To make it worse, Stephen forcefully locked the ticket with a patronizing line stating the matter was resolved and no further adjustments would be made to the account.
It’s incredibly frustrating to give a company your money, having used the highest usage tier previously as well, only to have Stephen treat you like an automated nuisance over a basic email verification gap. The tool itself is good, and I'll definitely be burning through the rest of the compute power I paid for until this cycle ends, but I’ve already set it to cancel. I'm moving my projects over to Windsurf and Continue.dev. Save yourself the headache if you ever run into an account issue with their team
Cursor has been instrumental in helping…
Cursor has been instrumental in helping developers I know, begin pair-coding with AI. Also I noticed that managing AI has improved every month, while the quality of the AI changes based on model. I appreciate their focus on creating their own models; in addition to, keeping up with new models in the industry. 5 stars for keeping things real.
Paid $20
Paid $20, plan still inactive due to billing sync bug!
I successfully paid $20.00 for the Cursor Pro plan on June 20, 2026. Stripe successfully processed the transaction (Invoice #1D1LGIYS-0002), but my account remains stuck on the Free tier.
When I try to upgrade or click checkout, a pop-up says "Payment required - You have an unpaid subscription," yet my billing dashboard clearly shows that the only invoice listed is completely "Paid". There are absolutely zero outstanding balances.
To make it worse, the invoice covers a past period from March/April instead of the current month. The AI support bot (Sam) keeps giving generic, unhelpful automated responses instead of forwarding my ticket (T-D74446) to a real human agent.
This is a terrible user and billing experience. They took my money instantly but refuse to activate the service or provide proper human support. Fix this system loop immediately!
