AVOID AVOID AVOID E.ON Next Business if…
AVOID AVOID AVOID E.ON Next Business if you value honesty and transparency.
My experience with E.ON Next Business has been incredibly disappointing and has had a significant financial impact on my small business.
During the sales call, I was given the impression that I would be paying much less than I was before. Based on those assurances, I agreed to a two-year contract. It wasn’t until later that I realised I had actually been placed on an extremely expensive tariff that has cost my business far more than expected.
What makes this even more concerning is that, after listening to the sales call, an E.ON employee agreed that there were issues with what had been said and even raised a complaint on my behalf. Despite this, E.ON still insisted they could do nothing because I had accepted the contract, effectively leaving me trapped in an expensive two-year agreement.
Throughout the complaints process, I was repeatedly told there was nothing they could do. However, as soon as I escalated the matter to the Energy Ombudsman, their position suddenly changed. Almost immediately they offered me around £600, saying it represented the difference between what I had paid and what I would have paid on another tariff. That alone speaks volumes. If nothing had been wrong, why was compensation offered only after the Ombudsman became involved?
To make matters worse, E.ON also agreed they would send me a written letter of apology. That apology never arrived.
As a small business owner, every pound matters. Instead of supporting businesses, I feel I was misled into an EXTREMELY expensive contract and then forced to fight for months just to receive partial compensation.
I spoke to few other energy suppliers and every single one hearing or seeing the rates on my bills are asking me the same question - WHY ARE YOU PAYING SUCH A HUGE RATE? I am explaining to every single person I am talking to how I have been misled and tricked by e.on.
My confidence in E.ON Next Business has been completely lost. I would strongly encourage other business owners to read every detail, question every promise made over the phone, and think very carefully before entering into a contract with them.

I had a very frustrating and stressful experience with E.ON Next.
I was initially given one tariff, but later I was told the price had changed after I had already spent a lot of time discussing the offer. The whole process was confusing and felt very unprofessional. Instead of making things easier, it caused unnecessary stress and wasted my time.
Although I later received an apology, that does not make up for the poor customer experience. As a consumer, I expect companies to honour the quotes they provide or clearly explain any changes before asking customers to proceed.
This has been one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve had with an energy supplier. I hope E.ON Next improves its communication and treats customers with more transparency and respect.
What a terrible company
What a terrible company. You can't get a quote from them unless you have apps, logins, passwords emails .
All i want is electric from a company, not all this login crap. I just need to buy electric. Are you not a company that sells electric? I have a debit card and a smart meter! Why all this technology crap. I will go elsewhere.
Extremely disappointing customer servi
I switched to E.ON on 26th May and, despite having a smart meter, I still hadn’t received a bill weeks later because the meter wasn’t communicating. The whole point of having a smart meter is so this doesn’t happen.
I raised a formal complaint on 8th July, but I’ve had to do all the chasing myself. Every update has only come after I’ve contacted E.ON again. I even provided manual meter readings over a week ago, yet nobody proactively updated me or explained what was happening.
The lack of communication has been frustrating and stressful. It’s taken repeated emails and messages just to get basic information, and there has been no acknowledgement of the inconvenience or discussion about compensation for the time and effort I’ve had to spend chasing this.
This experience has been far below what I’d expect from a major energy supplier. Customer service shouldn’t rely on the customer constantly having to ask for updates.
I hope E.ON improves its communication and starts keeping customers informed without them having to do all the work.

Had a ongoing problem with EON rang in twice and get through to overseas call centres that seem unable to sort the billing issue.Even emailed in
Its ridiculous you can not speak to someone in the UK
GOING TO MOVE SUPPLIERS IF THIS CONTINUES
Eon refusing to send my refund
During my contract I was overcharged over the course of the year significantly and accumulated credit over £800. When leaving the company I uploaded meter readings to aid a swift refund of the credit. Eon have refused to pay me the remaining credit, it is now nearly 5 weeks since I’ve left. The customer service have lied to me stating the new energy firm haven’t sent them opening meter readings. I have proof from the new energy company that it was sent to them at source. All I get is smoke and mirrors tactics from eon.
Billing woes
Every month, amounts for duel fuel (Gas & Electric) are taken from my Eon account with no bill. Also, credits that are paid do not show in accounts for 5 days, or longer after being paid by DDebit. My account should also be showing close to £500 in the black yet month after month of pointing out this dumbfounding practice with assurance of improvements, nothing materialises. Delays in billing and applying credits give false historical data which is used in applying variable Direct Debit payment assessment which can result in false forecasts for future payments. I'm at a loss and turning blue in the face. Eon, you need to stop this practice.
Scam, Overcharged, Difficult to contact
I would strongly advise others to avoid this company based on my experience.
Around three months ago, I was overcharged because they used incorrect meter readings. I reported the issue immediately, but despite numerous complaints, it still hasn’t been resolved, and I have not been refunded the amount I was overcharged.
To make matters worse, I recently received an electricity bill for over £1,000 for just one month’s usage, which is completely unrealistic. Once again, I was told they are “investigating” the issue, but I’ve been hearing the same response for more than three months with no resolution. I have now involved Energy Ombudsman.
Their customer service has been extremely disappointing. They are very difficult to contact, and they rarely respond to messages on WhatsApp or provide meaningful updates. Overall, my experience has been frustrating. Please avoid this company.
Customer service is awful
Customer service is awful, they don't seem to get anything right, they will leave you and hope you forget about the issue and after months they will still get it wrong.
Poor solar panel installation service
Eon currently installing solar panels to neighbours house scaffolding up blocking sky dish. Attended to install solar panels but forgot brackets. Near 2 weeks on no solution or plan. Very poor. Happy to discuss Enon and help you sort your poor service. For now I would never use you.
Fraud company
I think this service should be investigated by the government because there seems to be scaming people with outstanding balance and then bombarding them with different bills and reminders. this is the worst company to use . I paid £50 in june remaining £25 which should be carried over for july bill. I received a bill two weeks after i paid my June bill which is £44, by time it reaches the 1st of july i receive another bill for £90. I called to ask for clarity for the £90 the man was in limbo he said to me
as we speak its gone up to £100. Phone cut of i managed to speak to another lady she was also in limbo and wondering why I'm billed two times. Its a one bed flat a single person how much gas and electricity i will use to be paying £90 one week after i paid £50 in june ? they have no emphaty and they lack knowledge. and send bills every two weeks leading volunerable person to suicide with unexplained bills! I get constant reminder every day and letters and the bill keep going up. If I called or send emails they send another bill by replying so no one seem to can help me they are just sending bills. Which really affecting my mental health because I suffer from eupd and ptsd and they also know that.
Overcharged by thousands of pounds…
Overcharged by thousands of pounds compared to octopus in the 3yrs been with Eon, complex and confusing billing. Awful very expensive energy provider to deal with.
1 star - would put zero if that was an option
1 star. I would provide zero if that was an option.
This has been one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had.
E.ON made an error with my account and has already admitted that the mistake was entirely theirs. Instead of taking responsibility and putting it right, I’ve been left to spend my own time chasing them, trying to get through to customer services, and dealing with the stress their mistake has caused.
I was explicitly told that a £1,200 direct debit would not be taken and that someone would call me on Thursday to resolve the issue. I have now received a notification from my bank that E.ON intends to take the £1,200 tomorrow. How can customers have any confidence in what they’re being told when the complete opposite appears to be happening?
This isn’t a minor inconvenience—£1,200 is a substantial amount of money. The thought that a company can make a mistake, admit fault, give reassurances, and then seemingly ignore those reassurances is completely unacceptable.
The communication has been poor, the handling of my complaint has been appalling, and I have been left feeling like nobody at E.ON is taking ownership of the situation. The lack of accountability is staggering.
I expected far better from a company of this size. Instead, I’ve been left anxious, frustrated, and wondering whether I need to stop a payment that I was assured would never be requested in the first place.
I have absolutely no confidence in E.ON’s billing systems or its customer service. If this is how they treat customers after admitting they have made a mistake, I dread to think how they deal with issues they dispute.
Avoid if you value accurate billing, clear communication, and competent customer service.

I booked a day off work so a engineer could come over he did not turn up waste of time.
EON get it wrong again and again it seems
EON sent me a demand for payment for a property some 150 miles from where I live for a property I have no current or past connection with.
After a few days of hassle and stress for me EON confirmed that they had set up up incorrectly so my name would be removed from the account.
I complained to EON's Complaints team who then went full circle directly accussing myself as being liable for this account.
After 3-weeks of further hassle EON have once again stated that I am not liable for this outstanding bill and again have removed my name from the account but how can I trust a word EON say?
Very poor account management and customer communication from EON.
In addition, I actually do currently use EON and have done for a few years on my actual residence but they continually press to unduely increase my DD's despite having considerable credit already so I am having to constantly seek to reduce my DD back down.
I won't be staying with EON once the current deal ends.
Forcing me to be eon customer against my wishes
Advised my current supplier of a house live three weeks ago. This company refused the transfer and I have moved into a flat with £403 of someone else’s debt. Put £10 on a card and got £3 gas for it. Is this how this firm makes its money by forcing new property tenants to pay other people’s debt? Meanwhile I’ve had £7 stolen from my top up. Octopus have advised that Eon have refused to let me take over the supply of my new property. This has been going on for 4 weeks now. Letter to ombudsman as not going through the stages process to get to deadlock as regulator need to be told about this unlawful practice. Avoid avoid avoid!!!
Also as this is impacting my finances as I’m being forced to give money to eon for debt that isn’t mine I’m writing to FCA also as playing with peoples finances is also very unlawful as it’s forcing me into a vulnerable position where I can’t heat water or my home.
Not a great company but the rest are…
Not a great company but the rest are just as bad so you can’t win. I wouldn’t recommend never really understand the bills and can’t get anywhere with customer’s service. Smart meter readings are always not correct or not working altogether.

Mark (M60282) contacted to let me know he was on his way.
When he arrived he explained what he planned to do.
I watched a video on saving energy (very useful).
It took around an hour & then Mark explained how the Smart Meter operated & how easy it was for my gas supplier to connect my gas smart meter.
Very friendly & joyfully.
Billing wrong / meters & app not working correctly Joined in April an Engineer came out…
Joined in April an Engineer came out and changed my fully functioning smart meter to one of their own , after installation he informs me it has a error numerous emails and then on going charges later I’m still trying to prove i am not using all the energy they are billing me for , the app don’t work it says not data available the engineer removed my solar and battery connector so I haven’t been using any of my stored energy which I always do during summer and build up my account for winter , £50plus for a month when I’m a single resident working 12-14 hrs days not using hardly any energy at home! I don’t think so . Safe to say I’ve left eon now and gone back to Edf. I have received emails today to apologise and say yes in fact I was right about the data I will still fight for the rest that I’m 100% certain the meter isn’t reading correctly ! I have been offered a £50 goodwill gesture which I’m sure will be just used to pay the bill for what they are charging me .
Constantly over charging via over…
Constantly over charging via over estimated bills-trying to get them to send a new bill is hard work and it appears some of their staff have problems understanding the issues. My latest reply to the company has gone to unhappy@e-on next.
