Another #CCS project starts up this year! We’ve started operations at Nucor Corporation’s DRI facility in Convent, Louisiana — marking more progress for both #carboncapture and storage and for lower-emissions steel production. Projects like this help strengthen the competitiveness of American steel, enabling production at scale while reducing emissions from a critical industrial sector. With the world’s only large-scale, end-to-end CCS system, ExxonMobil Low Carbon Solutions is proud to support industries like steel and work together for a lower-carbon future. One billion barrels is an impressive number. But the story behind it is even bigger. This month, Imperial Oil's Kearl operations reached one billion barrels of production. Behind that milestone are thousands of people, years of innovation and a relentless focus on finding better ways to operate. Since startup, Kearl has grown into one of Canada's largest oil sands mining operations while continuing to push what's possible, including: - Building one of the world's largest autonomous haul truck fleets - Applying machine learning and advanced analytics to improve operations - Working alongside local and Indigenous communities that have helped shape Kearl's success One billion barrels didn't happen overnight. It took vision, partnership and the commitment of generations of employees, contractors and community partners who continue to move Kearl forward. The milestone is worth celebrating.
