Through the PETRONAS Brazil Innovation Challenge, nine winning projects will receive approximately USD 8 million in grants to advance Nature-Based Solutions aligned with Brazil's climate and sustainability priorities. At ROG.e 2026, one of Brazil's leading energy conferences, PETRONAS engaged with industry leaders, partners and stakeholders on opportunities across the energy value chain. These engagements reinforced the importance of strategic partnerships in supporting growth, advancing innovation and creating long-term value in an evolving energy landscape. Gastech 2026 was an opportunity to share perspectives on the energy transition, explore evolving energy needs and build on relationships that move the industry forward. Over four days, we brought visitors closer to our capabilities and solutions for LNG and energy security.  The conference may be over but the conversations and connections made during our time in Bangkok gave us plenty to reflect on. From the first move to the final checkmate, the 2026 PETRONAS Youth Chess Tournament gave more than 1,200 students across Sarawak a platform to compete, learn and grow. Across four preliminary rounds in Miri, Sibu, Kuching and Bintulu, young chess players stepped up to the board, challenged themselves, and sharpened their focus and strategic thinking skills. Beyond this year’s tournament, we are also supporting the continued growth of chess in the state with a contribution of 200 chess clocks to the Sarawak State Education Department (JPNS), giving more students the opportunity to learn, compete and develop their potential through the game. The recent Grand Finale in Bintulu was officiated by PETRONAS Sarawak General Manager Norazibah Md Rabu and witnessed by Tanjung Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming. Also present were Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd Plant Senior General Manager Nazman Rusli and Bintulu District Education Student Development Sector Deputy Officer Awangku Ali Udin Pangeran Adenani. For the first time, five talented young musicians from Brazil’s Chiquinha Gonzaga Youth Symphony Orchestra journeyed from Rio de Janeiro to Kuala Lumpur, where they shared melodies, stories and experiences with musicians from the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. Their week-long visit, supported by PETRONAS Brazil, was packed with masterclasses, performances and plenty of cultural exchange moments that proved one thing: great music may start with individual notes, but its rhythm and resonance are felt across borders. Together, they discovered that the best kind of harmony is not just found in music, but also in shared experiences, new friendships and the courage to step onto an unfamiliar stage. As the melodies fade and memories remain, the true legacy of this exchange lies in the possibilities it has unlocked. 35 more years. One shared ambition. In Bangkok, PETRONAS Carigali subsidiary, PC JDA Limited, and PTTEP JDX signed a new Production Sharing Contract (PSC) for Block A-18-01, marking the next chapter in a partnership that has stood the test of time. The parties also signed a Gas Sales Agreement (GSA) for the continued supply of natural gas from the block to both Malaysia and Thailand. The new 35-year PSC reinforces our shared commitment to the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Development Area, ensuring reliable supply and strengthening long-term energy security for both countries. Together, we are building on decades of collaboration while unlocking the next phase of Block A-18-01's potential.
