Behind every number is a daily reality. Today, 2.3 billion people still rely on traditional fuels such as wood and charcoal for cooking, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. This challenge sits at the crossroads of health, climate action and social development. TotalEnergies already supplies LPG for clean cooking to around 40 million people living in off-grid areas and has set the ambition of reaching 100 million people in Africa and India by 2030. At the same time, innovative solutions such as the Pay-As-You-Cook model developed in Kenya are helping make cleaner cooking energy more accessible by allowing customers to pay only for what they use.
