I went for the top end marketing package recommended by Carsales.com.au to sell my Isuzu MUX. I only received three low ball offers from dealerships, something I could do myself. I spent $550 for nothing! I put the same ad with less info on Facebook Marketplace and sold it within two days. I had five real customers authentically interested and it sold to the first person to come test drive it. Extremely disappointed and will never use or recommend Carslaes.com.au again.

. Very disappointing experience and poor value for money.
I paid $160 to advertise my car on Carsales. After roughly a week to ten days, I have received only one enquiry, from a dealer offering around half my asking price. So far, I have had no genuine interest from private buyers.
I understand that paying for an advertisement does not guarantee a sale, but the response has been extremely disappointing. What value am I getting for my $160?
Receiving a request to rate my experience at this point only adds to my frustration. I regret spending the money and expected much better from Carsales. Based on my experience so far, I cannot recommend the service.

Buying a car privately from a stranger…
Buying a car privately from a stranger can be a stressful experience, and CarSales allowed us to navigate that with appropriate protection as we built trust on both sides. For the final transaction, the escrow wallet was an ideal arrangement, as the seller could see that I had all the money ready to go; and the transfer of a sum well beyond my bank limit was also made possible, safe and traceable. I think this is a valuable service.

I paid a relatively high advertising fee to list my car on Carsales, but unfortunately, I didn’t receive many enquiries despite having the ad listed for a month. One potential buyer even mentioned that they hadn’t seen my listing until recently, which was quite disappointing.
On the positive side, the payment and transfer process was excellent. The transfer feature was easy to use and gave both the buyer and seller greater peace of mind and confidence when completing the transaction.
Overall, the transaction features are great, but I think there is room for improvement in ad visibility and value for money.
