Review of Arriva Bus (UK)

Totally incompetent company

Totally incompetent company. Their website is atrocious. The IT is atrocious. The customer service is non-existent. Number 4 bus from Downswood to Maidstone is once an hour, week days only, except it isn't - it gets cancelled almost every time I try to use it. Today, the 11:15 was cancelled. iPhone to complain and I have no idea why. But they didn't tell me that the next one was going to be cancelled as well, so basically spent two hours waiting for a bus that didn't turn up. . I made a complaint, but really, what is the point, just get platitudes and nothing gets done. I m 76 and spent two hours in roasting sun after walking up a long steep Hill to the bus stop. My friends who lived a quarter of a mile away on a different estate gets a bus into town every 15/20 minutes every single day. The Arriva live service app is continually down for maintenance or an update or some other such nonsense. Once I was at the bus stop, I didn't have the alternative of a Taxi as by rhen it was too late, so had to phone my appointment in town and cancel it. How Arriva managed to have the cheek to keep saying they're doing everything to make your service as good as possible it's beyond belief. Later try to use the Arriva app on my computer but it won't let me login, using the login I've had for a couple of years. Tried to change my password, but I still waiting hours later for them to send me verification. A total shame of a company.

Disappointing that no manual included

Very disappointing that no product manual included for this unique type of guitar, just a useless generic one for a bog standard acoustic. I called G4M and you said "thats all it comes with". No set up details, no string info or recommendations. And NO info on a major feature, the neck tilt adjustment that I only found out about on a forum. The volume knob was very crackly when guitar arrived, settled down a bit now.

Non-existent customer service or…

Non-existent customer service or product back up!
The iPhone case and mount for my bike worked great as expected at that price point. But when I inevitably needed to upgrade my iPhone, I thought it will be a simple matter of buying a new size case from QuadLock. But no, they do not offer a simple like for like replacement case to fit an iPhone15 (or possibly many other phones) unless you buy an expensive mag type case, or an overpriced F1 designed case, which are more expensive than the complete handlebar mounting kit and case I originally bought.
Dealing with QuadLock has been one of my most
frustrating customer services experiences ever. They do not provide a phone number and have built a chat bot firewall around them. The AI system is laughably bad, and is basically like a poorly programmed tape machine reading out FAQs. If you asked to talk to customer services, you get another AI Bot, which is equally useless and just repeats the same unanswerable questions.
It will then not chat further until you give an email address - I wasn’t very keen on doing this as last time I did, I ended up inundated with advertising emails.
So my recommendation would be to avoid this product and look for an alternative with at least a some sort of decent backup and concern for its customers rather than thinking it’s acceptable to discontinue support for expensive equipment that is less than a few years old and is now only any good for the bin..

Awful Customer Service and Incompetent Software

UPDATE Months later, still not fixed. Have now found that lots of others have exactly the same issue. Finally have to accept that TalkTalk are incapable of solving the problem with their security software. Have accepted a small compensation after using CEDR to try and get a resolution. They were excellent and wanted to continue trying to get TT to fix the problem , but I gave up.

I have been a TalkTalk customer for many years, but my still ongoing recent experience has been extremely disappointing.

Prices continue to be increased, yet it remains unnecessarily difficult to speak to a real person. Their AI support system is ineffective and rarely provides any meaningful help.

More concerning is the fact that their software is causing a persistent problem that they have been unable to resolve. Their Wi-Fi security software blocks access to my local golf club’s website, which is part of the nationwide Intelligent Golf booking system. As a result, I cannot make or check golf bookings when connected to my home broadband. However, the site works perfectly when I use a mobile data connection out side the house, which strongly suggests the issue lies with TalkTalk’s service.

I have spoken to my golf club and checked the website through multiple online security and virus-scanning services, none of which have identified any problems with the site. As far as I am aware, no other members are experiencing this issue.

I first reported the problem to TalkTalk over five months ago, yet it remains unresolved. During that time, I have received numerous messages saying that my complaint is being “escalated,” but no actual solution has been provided.

What I find most unbelievable is that TalkTalk is now telling me to take the matter to CISAS. This is a relatively minor software issue that should be straightforward for a competent provider to investigate and fix. Instead, after months of inaction, they appear to be passing responsibility elsewhere.

To add insult to injury, I have not been offered any compensation for the inconvenience, frustration, and time wasted trying to get this resolved. Rather than fixing a problem of their own making, they now expect me to pursue a formal complaint process.

This experience has left me questioning whether TalkTalk values its long-standing customers at all.

Useless app

Useless app. Spent 20 mins at least trying to log in today. Tried using phone what’s app and email, every one of the verification codes didnt work. Eventually after many more attempts I got logged in using exactly the same details it had kept refusing. It is useless for storing cards because I never know if I can access them or not. The system before Klarna was so much better, so I am going to look for an alternative company

Price ok but terrible on line experience

Reasonable insurance deal offer via GoCompare - but then trying to complete online proved impossible due to repeatedly being told ‘somethings wrong’ and making us start all over so many times we gave up. Unlike many companies, we could phone them, which we had to do. It took 3 calls and an hour wait but finally got done.

I was worried when I saw the delivery…

I was worried when I saw the delivery box as it was pretty battered, but G4M had used double box packaging and the guitar was absolutely fine. This was about my 5th Telecaster and I wanted a guitar for gigging in those tight crowded places where I didn't want to risk a very expensive model. The Squiere Affinity FMT was not quite as attractive in mocha as I thought it may have been, but still preferred it to the red! I really liked the tones I could get from the ceramic humbucker neck pick up . I considered upgrading to an Alnico pickup like on the Custom Vibe model, but I actually thought that sounded darker and not as clear and nice for my ears, so happy to keep this as stock and my main guitar for gigs or now.

Another company that will NEVER answer…

Another company that will NEVER answer the phone or call back.
Trying to partial transfer my ISA out to another company. I keep getting emails asking me to call Cynergy about the transfer. But nobody answers the phone, so my transfer has been five days without moving. I try and register a complaint, and it gives the same phone number that nobody answers. In the meantime, I check my account and find the transfer has still not been made. I try and phone again just put on hold for over two hours. Their Authenticator app system is appallingly poor, clunky and pointless. I have been with this bank for several years but would never ever recommend anyone getting remotely involved now.
UPDATE response to Cynergy. EVERYONE is busy, not just you. I am busy but have now had several cost implication issues because I can’t access or move MY money. I can still get through to several other major and smaller banks after a short wait. Just getting automated responses & excuses from you is not an acceptable reply, especially when you advise calling the very number that I have now not had any callback from after over 7 hours, and using several different phones. Call back systems only work if someone actually bothers to manage it, but Cynergy don’t.
UPDATE: Still no change and another day passes (now day 6) with my money in limbo and no contact with Cynergy. Called again 1m after they opened today, waited for a call back for over 3 hours, then got three calls 30 minutes apart.... Been with this bank since 2017, now the customer service is like a third world bank. Raised a complaint on line, they said they would respond in 5 days? Really? How did they ever get the banking service awards they claim???

Amin and communication terrible.

Our claim (via Admiral Insurance) with Sedgewick was a struggle due to appalling admin. They repeatedly refused to honour our Platinum X Home and Emergency policy due to a totally unfair interpretation of the policy wording. It took considerable effort and communications with Admiral to resolve. The actual engineer that finally came was good. However dealing with Sedgewick was a struggle due to appalling admin. We couldn't register for online update of claim using MySedgewick as it wouldn't recognise the claim number they told me. They kept sending SMS that had no claim reference, and the phone number provided didnt work.. When we originally phoned we were repeatedlt told it was a different app or department? Trying to use chat or message etc. just resulted in a reply saying they were closed and only open 8-5 Mon to Fri CST time - which seems to be a USA timezone 6 hours different to UK. So just waiting for a call from the engineer 4 days ago...
UPDATE: An engineer finally arrived, although unsurprisingly after waiting in all day, not at the times Sedgwick told us, even when they said he was 30 min away and would call us. He diagnosed the problem, then it took several days for him to get a new part. Unfortunately, it was the wrong part so he had to come back again the next day......and we had the same useless appointment times from Sedgwick

Review of Santander

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Stressful experience £60,000 getting "lost". Awful Customer Service

In a recent transaction, I transferred a substantial sum of money (£60,000+) into my current account to purchase a new vehicle. My local branch confirmed that paying the full amount would be acceptable, avoiding the inconvenience of multiple smaller transfers.
I went to collect the vehicle and pay for it using a debit card, as used for my previous car purchases. However, the first two attempts to complete the payment were unsuccessful, resulting in void receipts. After another attempt, the transaction was deemed valid, and a Worldpay code was provided. The dealer entered this code into his system, but a subsequent declined notification and CANCELLED receipt were received.
I spent over an hour waiting for Santander to answer the phone, followed by an additional hour being passed between their staff as I attempted to ascertain the status of the transaction and locate the missing funds. It seems the money had been withdrawn from my current account, but the dealer had not received them.
Despite my efforts to resolve the issue on the day of the transaction, I was left with the embarrassment and inconvenience of having to leave without my new car and the uncertainty of where my money was. Santander informed me that I could only wait and see if the funds cleared the following day, despite the fact that I had got cancelled and voided receipts for the transaction.
A day later, the funds were successfully credited to the dealer’s account, necessitating another lengthy trip to collect my vehicle. However, I received a subsequent message from Santander indicating that I was now overdrawn by approx. £60,000, as a result of an attempt by Santander to make the same payment to the dealer a second time and Santander telling me I should put sufficient funds into my account to make this clearly erroneous payment.
Numerous lengthy phone calls to Santander failed to resolve the issue, as they refused to cancel the obviously duplicated payment. I just had to wait several days not knowing what was going on before finally Santander sent me another message, basically chastising me for trying to make a payment without sufficient funds.
Apart from being an incredibly embarrassing, time-wasting and stressful experience at a time that should have been a happy occasion, it has proven to me that Santander can be a bureaucratic nightmare to deal with and customer service is the least of their priorities.

Review of Admiral Insurance

Originally felt let down by Admiral Home Emergency Cover

We are both OAPs in our late 70s and took out Platinum House insurance because it included home emergency cover. Our heating has just failed, it will not turn down or off, all the radiators are red hot and the boiler is continually burning gas at a rate of knots. We are totally a loss what to do, because Admirals emergency cover department (Sedgewick) just told us we're not covered, despite the fact that the policy clearly states if the "heating system fails or is broken down". So we have had to turn off power to the boiler, have no hot water and try and find an engineer we can afford. Terrible way to deal with our first claim in over 50 years.
Update 1): explained to customer service that we are in our late 70s and cannot have the boiler turned on because all the pipes then vibrate with the heat from the hot water, etc we have a loud screeching from the loft. Our HECX Platinum cover says an emergency is if your heating system has failed or broken down, which it has. If it makes you’re home unfit to live, which it has. Puts anyone’s health at risk, which it has, as my wife has COPD and asthma as well as 9 broken ribs which require daily bathing , Risks loss or damage to your home or contents, which it does, as we have no idea if the pipes are going to fail. They seem to be taking the attitude that if the heating system will turn on but is totally uncontrollable, it has not broken down or failed, which is a very mean interpretation of a policy we thought would protect us. We have had no claims ever with Admiral or any other insurer in over 50 years. Now been waiting over 4 hours for a promised call back….
UPDATE 2): Thankfullly, Admiral finally agreed to get my heating issue sorted, despite their Emergency Cover agents Sedgwick seemingly doing everything possible they could to totally misinterpret our policy. Sedgwick proved administratively challenging to deal with, never getting the promised call backs or engineer arriving in the time allocated. The engineer diagnosed the problem okay but it took a few days to get a new part. Unfortunately, it was the wrong part so had to come back again the next day, again the same awful communications with Sedgwick.

Review of Churchill

Churchill refused to insure identical car to the one they have insured for last 3 years.

My car has been insured with Churchill since 2023 and was renewed in January 2025, without a problem. However, I planned to replace it with a new identical model vehicle this month. I sold the existing car and suspended the policy a week ago. As soon as I got the Reg No of the new car, I called Churchill only for them to refuse to insure it. This left me in a very stressful position as I only had a day now to organise alternative insurance. I was very disappointed with Churchill's attitude as both my wife and myself had cars and our home insurance policies with them -obviously I will not now be renewing any of them in future. The only good news is that the replacement insurer I found (a major company) was 30% cheaper than the last two years have been with Churchill for this car.

Buyer was even worse than WBAC at…

Buyer was even worse than WBAC at reducing the agreed purchase price on an immaculate very low mileage vehicle, quoting high prices for what I believe to be dubious issues, as my main dealer had already looked all over the car and not noted them. A badge was apparently now ‘missing’ and things not working despite all being fine before the car was locked away and unused since taking the Motorway pics. A very stressful and somewhat costly experience. I now wish I had just traded it in for the replacement car.
UPDATE. I tried on the original review to just basically outline the facts and I understand Motorways comment that there might inevitably be adjustments needed to prices. In this case the representetives from West Motor Company were left with the car to inspect, but later claimed a badge that was on the submitted images was missing, although the car had been immediately locked away until collection. They mentioned a significant cost involved in replacing this cheap to buy and simple to fit item. They claimed the boot lid would not open fully when using the button on the boot button and it could cost a lot to repair. I mentioned that I thought forcing the boot to open by hand had reset the boot lid opening position, and they decided not to persue this additional cost. They said that the Motorway report mentioned two scuff marks on the alloys. They could not find at all any as there were none and none were reported by me. They had previously mentiond that the scuff had been taken into account on their price. The company representatives agreed they couldn't find any marks at all, but no credit was allowed. They pointed out a 10mm black mark on the black wing mirror that I had never notice and quoted several hundred pounds to respray. Just a lesson learned in dealing with some motor companies it seems.

Very disappointed. After booking 3 times in 2024 we got a voucher for £100 against next holiday. Went to book a 4th holiday for October but had some issues couldn't resolve on line so contacted local TUI shop, who went on and took my booking. Then realised I had not added the £100 voucher. They now tell me I cannot claim the voucher discount as it was not done at time of booking. This will probably be my last TUI booking if I can find an alternative.

We’re sorry to hear about the issue you encountered when trying to apply your £100 voucher after booking your fourth holiday. We understand how frustrating this must be, especially after being a loyal TUI customer.

While it’s true that vouchers need to be applied at the time of booking, if the voucher was presented at the time of booking, as long as it met the conditions, then there should be no reason why this could not have been applied.

I have escalated this back to the store you booked in, and hope to have an update for you soon.
