Lifetime warranty means nothing once you need it the worse customer service of my life
Lodge Jacket Matte Finish, 750 EUR, bought 2024 in Berlin. Worn about a dozen times. The fabric tore on its own, no snag, no accident, it simply gave way.
I filed a warranty claim. First response: the jacket has to be professionally cleaned before anyone will look at it, and if it arrives “not clean enough” they clean it and bill the fee to the case. 84 EUR I never agreed to.
After the inspection I received a two-sentence verdict: the damage was “due to accidental factors”, outside warranty scope, and the damage “did not meet our quality standards for repair”, so no repair is possible even if I pay for it. No inspection report, no photos, no explanation of what was found or why it counts as accidental. The jacket is being posted back.
So a premium brand sells a 750 EUR jacket, the fabric fails after light use, and the answer is: not our problem, can’t be fixed, won’t say why.
The lifetime warranty is on the tag and all over the website. In practice it is a cleaning fee and a form rejection. Patagonia repairs things for free under theirs. Spend your money there.
