Horrible service

Horrible service. When you have an issue with a device from Smeg. They will just ignore you and all your emails/messages. I have nothing positive to say about the service. Just terrible

SMEG kettle

I received a SMEG kettle as a gift, and after just one or two months of normal use, it started leaking water. This raised serious concerns about electrical safety. Unfortunately, SMEG Canada refused to offer a replacement or other solution because I could not provide a purchase receipt. Since it was a gift, obtaining the receipt was not possible. I’m very disappointed with how the company handled this issue. I expected better product quality and customer service from a premium brand like SMEG, and this experience has seriously affected my trust in the brand.

I have a smeg kettle

I have a smeg kettle, a present from my son , Christmas 2024.
I loved it until it started leaking just over a year later, from the bottom of the metal spout.
I have to put a tea towel in front of it now before I pour, also a few months ago the paint bubbled on the top of the lid and flaked, now you can see bits of the metal underneath
So fed up as I did love it 😔

GARBAGE PRODUCTS

If I could give Smeg zero stars I would.
1 year with n $800 Smeg Cappuccino Coffee machine and we've had nothing but problems with it.

I just launched an $800 piece of garbage SMEG coffee machine into our local landfill site after having nothing but trouble with this piece of garbage while getting no support from SMEG.

Over the past 6+ months, we’ve been on the line with repair people, we’ve driven over 150km’s to take it to a service centre while it was still within the warranty period, we waited a month to get it back, only to continue to have nothing but problems with the machine.

Instead of recognizing that this was a poorly built, defective machine and replacing it, we’ve had to spend a ridiculous amount of time trouble shooting on our own and trying to get it fixed and now they tell me that the 1 year warranty is up and they can no longer help me - instead they provided me with trouble shooting suggestions ... all of which I had already tried and they were aware of that from the info I provided. I know the owner’s manual inside and out by now.

What terrible customer service.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A SMEG PRODUCT!

DON'T BOTHER WITH SMEG!

So i though i would treat my new kitchen to a SMEG kettle and toaster.
Very expensive but i thought why not!
3 weeks later the kettle was still tasting awful even after doing exactly as you should with a new kettle.
SMEG exchanged it with a new kettle and 5 months later its all good...so far!!
The toaster is a different subject!! 4 times my toaster has broke, its the bar in the toaster that lifts up the bread that breaks, now 4 times!! Really!! Ok Currys have replaced it on the 3 previous occassions but today when i took the toaster back i said i do not want another Smeg, whats the point as i'm pretty sure it will have the same thing go wrong with it. It doesn't get much use either maybe once a week if that!
I did get a Breville toaster in cream to match my kitchen, and got refunded the difference from the expensive Smeg.
The guy at Currys said 2 weeks ago another person brought back his Smeg toaster with the same problem. So i guess expensive is not always best, and all the issues with the Smeg toaster you would think the company would look into the issue!!
I won't ever purchase Smeg again, fingers crossed the kettle carries on working!! Or that will go back for sure.

The most shocking customer service. Ordered a kettle and toaster and the toaster is faulty. Customer service want proof of purchase along with a million other numbers serial model etc and they still have not got back to me. No other supplier asks for all this info once you have given them your order number, as by this number they can look up the model themselves.

SMEG is right there to take your MONEY

SMEG is right there to take your hundreds of dollars for their so-called elite appliances but after a product fails of theirs (milk frother) they give you an entire run-around. I've sent videos and photos and all that they requested and it's an IMPOSSIBLE LIMBO to get out of. Just get a cheap appliance and when it stops working, oh well, you get another one. Forget SMEG and the SMEG aesthetic.

I HAVE A KLF05RDUK - Smeg 50s Retro KLF05RDUK Mini Kettle Red 0.8L PURCHASED 12/01/2026

THE LID IS SO TIGHT YOU HAVE TO OPEN WITH BOTH HANDS. THE LID SLIDES WHEN OPEN.

FOR A DISABLED PERSON THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS.

FOR THE PRICE THE KETTLE COST ONE SHOULD EXPECT BETTER.

We are now onto our THIRD Smeg kettle

We are now onto our THIRD Smeg kettle. All three have had the same issues - leaking after up to a years usage. The retailer replaced two - and told us that even though the third was new off the shelf - informed us there'd be no warranty - I went to smeg who also told me they wouldn't put a third warranty on the product - i will never purchase a smeg appliance again - for a pricey product they sure are a complete let down.

SMEG Review

SMEG Review
For the peace of mind of other customers and their families, I strongly recommend staying away from the SMEG brand.
This is already my second SMEG refrigerator, and I am extremely disappointed with both the product quality and the way SMEG handles its warranty obligations.
My first SMEG refrigerator failed after only a few months of use. Although it was under warranty, we were left without a refrigerator for about a month before SMEG finally replaced it. Unfortunately, the replacement refrigerator has now developed serious problems as well.
My current SMEG FA490URX developed multiple issues while still under warranty. An authorized service technician identified an internal defect that was accepted for warranty repair. At the same time, both exterior metal side panels physically separated from the refrigerator cabinet, which was also documented by the authorized technician.
Instead of resolving the problem promptly, SMEG has prolonged the process and refused warranty coverage for the side panels, claiming that insufficient side clearance caused the damage.
However, I reviewed the original installation manual supplied with the refrigerator and could not find a specified minimum side clearance between the refrigerator and a normal wall or kitchen cabinet. I have asked SMEG in writing to identify the exact page and exact clearance requirement that I allegedly violated.
If a manufacturer denies warranty coverage because installation instructions were supposedly violated, it should be able to show exactly which published requirement was violated.
I also purchased an extended warranty for additional peace of mind. After my experience with two SMEG refrigerators, I deeply regret choosing this manufacturer and spending additional money on extended coverage.
I have kept the photographs, authorized service report, warranty documents, original installation manual, and all correspondence with SMEG. If SMEG continues to refuse its warranty obligations, I am considering filing a consumer protection complaint and pursuing legal action.
After my experience with two SMEG refrigerators, I cannot recommend this brand and will not purchase SMEG products again.

Very disappointed with SMEG Canada – Serious Safety Concern

I purchased a SMEG stovetop kettle from Winners/Marshalls approximately one year ago. Recently, the kettle caught fire while in use. This was extremely frightening and, in my opinion, a very serious safety issue.
I contacted SMEG Canada expecting the incident to be taken seriously. Instead, the response focused primarily on the fact that I could not provide the original receipt and that the kettle was therefore considered out of warranty. I was offered information about purchasing replacement parts and finding a technician, even though I have no intention of repairing or using a kettle that has caught fire.
I understand that companies have warranty policies and that proof of purchase may be required for warranty coverage. However, I am extremely disappointed that a product that caught fire was treated primarily as a warranty/repair matter rather than as a serious product safety concern.
I chose SMEG because I believed it was a reputable brand known for quality and reliability. After this experience, I am very disappointed with both the product and the way my safety concern was handled.
I hope SMEG Canada takes reports like this more seriously and investigates why this kettle caught fire, rather than simply directing customers toward purchasing parts.
A kettle catching fire should never be treated as just a repair issue.

Bought a smeg kettle

Bought a smeg kettle, 7 months later the lid broke and Kloppers replaced it for me.
The second kettle eventually broke at the exact same point in the lid, I have to pay to return it to SMEG, then I have to pay to have it repaired.
The kettle costs R2999 and now I have to keep paying for a flaw in the lid of their product, I am sorry but as a retired person I do not have money to waste. Read on a site that they last 7 to 8 years, I disagree!
Shame on SMEG, I will not buy their products again! SMEG is prepared to help me, but it will cost me and not them 🙂‍↔️ Stand by your brand SMEG!
Told the lady I would rather take a toaster because I don't want this to happen again, I was told no.
I have to take another kettle and the same one that has broken twice 🫪 no thanks!

2 coffee makers in less than 2…

2 coffee makers in less than 2 months the 1st one. Replaced the the 2nd one started acting up. I contacted smeg & they offered me 30%. I told them the 1st had a faulty water pump only after 2 months. It just girgles & steam & steams up t our ceilings & cabinets & only makes 4-6 cups sometimes only 2 cups even though it supposed to make 10 cups. The 2nd one wentvout too same problem water pump. It costs more to have it fixed than I paid for it. They are both in the trash. They hadvthe nerve to offer me 30% buy a 3rd one are they crazy? The 4 slice toaster burns the top & doesn't toaster the bottom. The setting is only on 2. Do not buy SMEG toaster or the coffee makers.

Smeg retro toaster stopped working just after a year and when contacted them I was told it comes with one year warranty and they won’t do anything. This is supposedly a high end product costing $230, which is worthless garbage now.

I would never buy it. How to imagine a high end expensive SMEG Kettle will have paint problem. Low quality finish even a much bargain kettle wouldn't have this paint swelling problem. Bad customer service just kick you out by over warranty. Only ask for a way to fix it by myself, Just ignore you.
