My experience of using TrainPal is good, except the app doesn’t always allow for an e-ticket from Kent, on Southeastern train routes onto London. I believe paper tickets are unnecessary and unfriendly... See more

Generally good but some trains that involve changes not shown. E.g 17.12 slower train from Great Malvern to London Euston involving 2 changes on 15th September. This train was shown on Nat Rail app but not on Trainpal. Choosing this journey made return journey from London to Great Malvern cheaper. Booked it on TrainSplit instead.

I don’t like the fact that if you make a mistake in booking, you cannot reverse it. There should be a ‘fifteen minute window’ to cancel.

I’ve used this app in the uk and Italy. It was easy to use. Information was up to date and relevant to my journeys.

First time using TrainPal and I really like it. The booking process is clear & easy to use with the added bonus of no booking fee.
I was kept up to date with notifications stating my train was running late etc.
Great information is given on the train you will be riding on such as the amenities onboard, the amount of coaches & even the locomotive number!.
All in all a great app & one I will be using in the future.

Only reason I’m keeping app is my railcard. The customer service is diabolical, my account has had fraudulent transactions and money has come out of my account, I’ve now been waiting for 2 weeks for it to be resolved only to be met by a higher-tier team will contact me in 24hours. I can’t believe how bad this all is. Then the reply I get on here is another generic response, the FAQ doesn’t have anything regarding fraud. My account has been used to book a hotel and train tickets, not my name/email address yet they have used my card details which are supposed to be secure. Everyone be aware!

The trainpal app is easy to use and I'm a frequent user. The notifications and times are regularly updated. I've always been happy with the whole experience until yesterday.
I booked my travel for yesterday a couple of weeks ago from Newcastle airport to Northallerton as I regularly do, but yesterday it took nearly 45 minutes to get our baggage at the airport!
This meant that we were late for the 15.27 train from Newcastle station and we missed it!
I went to the ticket office to ask if we could use our tickets for the 16.27 train but was told we couldn't because it was a split ticket and was only valid for the booked time. I queried this and was told I needed to book an Open single ticket but there is no option on the app to do this so we had to pay an additional £28 for our journey.
I honestly did not know this so I will have to look at this for my next travel as it's every month.
I've looked on the app but can't find this option.
Maybe I'll have to use the actual train provider to book open tickets?

PLEASE AVOID TRAINPAL.
Please note that this company seems to have at least two different profiles on trust pilot. This one which is probably a facade and a second one where they currently have average 1.4 stars reflecting people’s actual experiences.
Anyway I hope you see this before you book tickets with this company. Firstly my discount code disappeared at the point of booking tickets despite multiple attempts, so that the price increased out of nowhere. After trying various ways to make this journey cheaper (split ticket, group saver, discount code) still £15 more expensive than rival Trainline without any codes used. Made the mistake of checking the competition after buying so submitted a very straightforward price match request with identical booking details . First of all immediately rejected by what was likely a bot. Resubmitted making even clearer they owed me money, took 72 hours to reject again on completely spurious grounds. Please make my discomfort worth while by it being a cautionary tale ! You will find tickets cheaper elsewhere and if you don’t at least the booking and customer service process will be functional.

Very easy to booking tickets managing trips, the E tickets are really convenient.

I use TrainPal as my main ticket app, it's 99% of the time the cheapest and with the rewards you get like cashback, it makes it even more useful. Never had any issues with the app, though the Temu type "get £30 for free" popups can be annoying, you just need to read the small print first on them and don't be naive. I brought my railcard through the app this year as they offer discounts often on them. The app isn't quite as easy to use as TrainLine but you get the hang of it, and having no booking fees makes it tolerable.

Booked tickets a month before a trip to London. The day before was sent an email saying the train was cancelled.. Had to re book and pay for a different route. Same thing happened the night before we went home. All trains home have been cancelled... Went to the station to see what's going on. No cancelled trains at all... They tell you it's cancelled to make you panic and book another train paying more. AVOID LIKE THE PLAUGE! ABSOLUTE SEE YOU NEXT TUESDAYS!

I like TrainPal for buying tickets and travel information, but I am very disappointed with its money-saving vouchers. I purchased an offer for £5.99 advertised as providing £9 in discounts. I received £5 off, but then discovered the remaining £3 required a £70 spend and the £1 required a £30 spend. Both were also time limited. These restrictions were not clear to me when I purchased the offer, and I had to use the chatbot just to find out the conditions. I believe the way these vouchers are advertised is misleading and designed so that many customers will pay for discounts they are unlikely to be able to use. The lack of a straightforward way to contact customer service made matters worse, as the chatbot was unhelpful. I will continue using TrainPal for tickets and information, but I will never purchase these vouchers again. I strongly advise other customers to avoid them and read the restrictive terms carefully.

Easy way to book tickets as it adds my railcard automatically would highly recommend

TrainPal used to be my go-to app, and I recommended it to everyone. Not anymore.
This is NOT the first time their ticket collection codes failed at the station machine. Since my booking included Travelcard / Underground access, I couldn't opt for an e-ticket/QR code and was forced to print paper tickets. The code failed, the machine couldn't fulfill it, and I ended up having to buy new tickets directly at the counter anyway. It is literally faster and far less stressful to just buy tickets directly at the station machine.
To make matters worse, their customer support has gone completely downhill. It used to be easy to talk to a human agent, but now you are trapped in an endless loop with useless AI chatbots. When you finally reach someone who promises a refund, they back out days later.
Terrible service, broken system, and zero real support. Goodbye TrainPal, never using this app again.
