Hi All,

I'm using the tv_grab_uk_rt grabber and then tv_grep to do some
post-processing of the xml file. However, since the clocks changed at the
weekend, tv_grep has stopped working properly.

Normally, I run it with a command line something like the following:

tv_grep --on-after "4/8 14:00" --and --on-before "4/8 15:00" p.xml

to get all shows between 2pm and 3pm, which worked fine. However, now, when
I run the same command, I'm getting shows from 930am to 11am !!!! The
timestamps of the shows returned are:

Whats going on? Is the +0100 in the timestamp confusing tv_grep ? Any
guidance as to what I'm doing wrong would be appreciated.

You can start by looking at

To use the instructions in that page, you need to check out xmltv from 
CVS. The page describes how to build a skeleton for a grabber that 
parses the command-line and configuration files. It does not (yet) 
describe how to actually grab the data. To get an idea how to do that, 
look at the existing grabbers. Note that all grabbers are written by 
different persons and they differ quite a lot in how they parse the 
data. And of the available grabbers, only tv_grab_se_swedb currently use 
the method described in HowToWriteAGrabber.

Feel free to ask any more questions, preferably to the xmltv-devel list.

grabber for my country. I have yet no idea about how to start. There are
only a few national channel, but all the rest are cartoon network, warner,
sony, fox, cnn and many other latin version international channels.

Well, I'm gonna try to find my way thru the mailing lists archives. If any
of you has a pointer to "howto xmltv" or something similar, any help is
appreciated.

I just installed xmltv 0.5.42, and tv_grb_fr is not working anymore.

I get the following error message:
Can't use string ("getting listings") as a HASH ref while "strict refs" in
use at /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.6/XMLTV/ProgressBar/None.pm line 11.

I edit the file None.pm to comments "strict refs", it works but I'm not ver=
y
happy with this.
Has anyone a better solution to resolv this.

I'm in Ireland and use tv_grab_uk_rt to grab listings from the radiotimes.

Sky recently changed their lineup and so I have to reconfigure mythtv to
handle the new layout.

 

Rather than do it by hand (I started but that was tedious) I thought I would
write a program to generate the correct sql.

All well and good. I found a perl script (on the knoppmyth wiki) and that
got me started,

but wanted to modify to my ends, which I have.

 

The upshot is that I have a script which garbs the lineup from lyngsat
(along with the icons - cool eh?)

and then tries to match it up with the data coming from the BBC. I'm using
the last field in the channel_ids file

to put the name of the channel (according to lyngsat) so that everything
links up.

 

Has anybody done this before (and save me the trouble)?

I will contribute my (noddy does) perl script if it is interest.

I've been running a windows binary version of xmltv for a few months now =
without problems. But
last friday, it started failing with the following error:

I have fixed the script, perhaps it is useful to others.  I have some
debug info still in the script.

Could still use some fine tuning, and clean out some debug messages.

answer... Is there anyway i can grab the listings from tvguide.com??

Or someone push me in the right direction to HOW to do it manually??

You don't mention what OS you're using.  If you're using windows,
you'll need to put "xmltv.exe" before "tv_grab_uk_bleb" in your command
line.

What happens when you try and run xmltv direct? (w/o freeguide)

You may want to check with the freeguide folks first to rule out a
config issue.   Over here we can really only help troubleshoot xmltv
from the shell prompt.

Chris Butler found the problem... a change in Getopt::Long.  Fixed in CVS.
