I cannot reproduce this, either with the xmltv-0.5.9 release or with
the trunk.  But not to worry, it often happens that people with
different setups come across problems that the developers can't
reproduce.

As a first step could you try getting the latest CVS version.  I have
added some code which tries to catch this problem and report on it
earlier; it probably won't fix the bug but at least we'll have some
idea where the bug is coming from.

You can get a CVS checkout by following the instructions at
<," rel="nofollow">http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=39046>, using 'xmltv' for
'modulename'.

I have the same problem, but getting the tv_grab_na from membled didn't
work for me.

Hi,

This post is targeted to Swedish or Norwegian users of XMLTV.

Since I'm running RH8.0 I have followed Axel Thimms instructions and
downloaded and installed all dependant RPMS and finally installed the XMLTV
package itself.

After I configured tv_grab_sn with

# tv_grab_sn --configure

I get the following output at stderr when I try to grab the TV-listings:

# tv_grab_sn >TV.xml
using config file /root/.xmltv/tv_grab_sn
getting listings: http://www.dagenstv.com/se/chart/?dat=2003-04-24&cha=27:

and so on....

Does anybody else experiencing the same problems with "tv_grab_sn" (or
www.dagenstv.com) ?

Hi Guys, just to let you know there's a new FreeGuide release.  Its main 
new feature is that it works for Windows people in the UK and North 
America.  It's also got a few extra features, but nothing too exciting!

For those who don't know, FreeGuide is a Java tv guide that uses XMLTV 
as its back end.

OK, so in FreeGuide this translates to:

Configure your grabber for one provider, and rename the config file to 
tv_grab_na_2.conf (say).

Now configure your grabber for the other provider as normal.

Now go to the "Advanced Options" screen in FreeGuide and put in these 
lines replacing what you've got there with these 3 lines:

"%misc.xmltv_directory%\xmltv.exe" tv_grab_na --config-file 
"%misc.grabber_config%" --offset %offset% --days 1 --output 
"%misc.working_directory%\tv-1-%date%.xmltv" --release-check false

"%misc.xmltv_directory%\xmltv.exe" tv_grab_na --config-file 
"%misc.xmltv_directory%\tv_grab_na_2.conf" --offset %offset% --days 1 
--output "%misc.working_directory%\tv-2-%date%.xmltv" --release-check false

"%misc.xmltv_directory%\xmltv.exe" tv_cat --output 
"%misc.working_directory%\tv-%date%.xmltv" 
"%misc.working_directory%\tv-1-%date%.xmltv" 
"%misc.working_directory%\tv-2-%date%.xmltv"

(A blank line above indicates a line break)

I got:

and it no longer crashes on startup. Doing diff to see what fixed it ...

Thanks for the help? FYI, I also download the source xmltv-0.5.9 .tar.bz2
file and compiled and tried that to, same thing. Crashed tried to ready
the config file. Is the release broken? I couldn't find any archives in
the sourceforge page and I just joined the list today.

You're running an old xmltv release.
upgrade and the problems will disappear.

This is a warning inside XML::Writer, probably because it is using the
IO module incorrectly.  Report this to the provider of that module
(rpm -qif /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/XML/Writer.pm).

This is the same problem, but in the tv_grab_na code.  I need to look
at the latest version of the IO module and see what needs to change.

Hello everyone, I just installed xmltv via apt-get and it does not seem to
be working right. I poked around in the source code but I can't figure it
out. rpm  -q -a | grep xmltv reports:

xmltv-0.5.9-0_18at

The computer is a freshly installed Redhat 9. Not sure what other info you
need.

Here is what happens. I run tv_grab_na --configure and it asks some
questions and then builds a file ~/.xmltv/tv_grab_na.conf. That all seems
to work fine. When I try to get some listings that's when it fails. I run:

/usr/bin/tv_grab_na --listings FOO

And the output is:

I re-ran it under the perl debugger (-d) and tried to see where it is
dying. I must have missed going into a sub or something because it just
seemed to die all of a sudden while stepping through the file. Somewhere
around line 1564 I think. Right around where it calls grab(), so it may be
dying inside that sub.

Is there anyone else who has this problem, or just me? Anyone know how to
fix it?

Also, the top of my config file is below. The line it dies on is the first
without a # at the begining (I tried commenting that line out, and it dies
on the next)

Yes, if you have a full perl installation and the necessary CPAN 
modules.

If you don't have perl installed, wait for the Windows binary release
which packages the tools up in a single executable xmltv.exe.  (No
promises on when it will be out.)

mode instead of binary mode.

Leeching new release xmltv-0.5.9.tar.bz2 but it seems to be
corrupt. Downloaded xmltv-0.5.9.tar.bz2 multiple times but to no avail.

bzip2: Data integrity error when decompressing.
        Input file = (stdin), output file = (stdout)

It is possible that the compressed file(s) have become corrupted.
You can use the -tvv option to test integrity of such files.

You can use the `bzip2recover' program to attempt to recover
data from undamaged sections of corrupted files.

tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors

Could someone repair this. TIA
