Scam enablers
Absolute Scam Enablers – Do Not Trust Any Shop Using Shopify! In my opinion, Shopify actively assists fake stores and scammers by allowing them to use their platform to rip people off. They take absolutely no responsibility for who they let host stores on their website. When a major issue happens and you try to get help, Shopify just passes the buck onto the merchant. To make matters worse, these scammers just close shop, stop trading under that specific name on Shopify, and immediately open up a brand-new account under a different name to scam more people. Shopify does nothing to stop this endless cycle. Because I was forced to shop through a store hosted by them and got completely ripped off, I will absolutely no longer be buying from any retailer that uses Shopify. Avoid at all costs!
Shopify is hosting scam websites
Shopify is a website with several scam websites on its platform.
I have been scammed by a website called CheckoutGo for a Stihl chainsaw and although that website has disappeared the item is still being sold by Greenvalegarden, which according to Trustpilot is another scam site.
You cannot trust Shopify to keep their platform free of scammers!
Used a supplier through shopify
Used a supplier through shopify, I was scammed and lost $250, I made a complaint with shopify, I have sent several messages and have been ignored, so the way I see it is shopify's only interested in profit over people, I would recommend not using shopify
I placed an order on August 9
I placed an order on August 9, 2026, and spent more than $300 on six outfits. As of September 3, I have received only one outfit, with five items still outstanding. I have sent several emails asking for an update but have received no response or explanation for the delay. The lack of communication is unacceptable. Customers should be notified when orders are delayed and receive timely responses when requesting information.
I ordered an item for £100
I ordered an item for £100, no product arrived and Shopify said its nothing to do with them. Absolutely joke and they say get the money back from your bank.
I don't think that it an option, they charge these dodgy companies who rip us off.
What a total dodgy bunch of crooks Shopify are 🤬🤬🤬 disgraceful

I placed an order with Eronvia who are associated with Shopify on the 8th August, however I have never received my order. I have emailed customer services, but have never gotten a reply. I think this website is a scam.
Repeated broken promises on payouts
Repeated broken promises on payouts, no real accountability
I switched my business to Shopify Payments and it's been one of the most stressful experiences I've had with a service provider. A payout was delayed well past the standard hold period, and I was given date after date for when it would arrive, each one missed. I was first told payments would be "enabled" on 23 August. I was then told funds would release automatically between 27 and 29 August. I was then told the payout was "in process" and confirmed for 2 September. That date came and went with nothing in my account either.
On top of the payout delays, I raised a formal complaint about the miscommunication over a week before writing this review. I was told it had been escalated to a "specialist team," but I never received a single email, call, or update from anyone. Every time I chased it in chat, I was told someone would be in touch, and nobody ever was.
I run a small business, and this delay directly affected my ability to pay my staff and meet commitments I'd made to suppliers and customers based on the payout dates Shopify gave me. When I raised how serious the impact was, support acknowledged it was "documented," but that didn't change anything or speed anything up.
To be fair, individual advisors in chat were generally polite, and eventually one gave me a clearer explanation and a proper link to file a formal complaint. But it took an entire day of repeated chats, being passed between advisors, and constant reassurance without action to get even that. For a payments platform that businesses rely on for cash flow, this level of unreliability and lack of follow-through is unacceptable
LG Parts shipped me the wrong part
LG Parts shipped me the wrong part. They asked me to return the wrong part and reorder the right part. On the reorder, they wouldn't accept the 10% coupon code.
Deceptive practices
I have noticed the Shop Pay app, part of Shopify, being used on more and more ecommerce sites. I wish these sites would use other order/payment processing apps instead, because Shop Pay is very deceptive. As another reviewer mentions, it pops up as you are entering your email address and immediately begins processing your order through its app, instead of allowing you to choose whether you would like to enter your password and check out another way. You will also get tons of text messages from Shopify if you're using an identity/password autofiller that inputs your information -- the Shop App immediately captures that information, without so much as offering a Submit button to allow you to choose whether you consent to the harvesting of your data.
It's also very "trigger happy," and will generate orders before you've completed them. A few days ago, I added items to my cart and clicked the cart icon, so I could get to the page where one can enter and view the discount from a promo code. I was undecided on whether to purchase (nearly $250), and LITERALLY walked away from my computer. A few hours later, I received an email confirmation of my "order," even though I never so much as hovered my cursor over the Submit button. Fortunately, when I reached out to the business in question, they had the morals to cancel the order for me. But the point remains: the Shop Pay app can fraudulently generate orders and charge any credit card that you have had the misfortune to use at some point, whether months or years ago, when you've been sucked into using the app. I hope more consumers complain so that ecomm businesses begin using competitor apps that don't charge you for orders you haven't actually placed, and that harvest your information without your consent.
I asked for a refund for the magic…
I asked for a refund for the magic window cleaner which is £24.99 all i get is click on a link and got to pay postage which could be up to £30 or more to send back my friend as complained about it and shes got a refund and doesn't have to send it back it doesn't clean double glazing so why doesn't it say that . Worst scam of a company in Canada
Worst scam of a company in Canada - use any other provider but Shopify.
Counterfeit product
Bought a product but it was counterfeit. I asked for a refund and filed a scam report. Shopify did not do anything to help me get refunded. Please avoid if you don’t want to get scammed. Inexistant customer service.
Shopify and BRT have scammed us
Shopify and BRT have scammed us. BRT damaged one of our packages while delivering it. The package contained an expensive Samsonite bag, and the product was damaged to the point that it was impossible to use. The package was open and wet when the customer received it. It looked like it had been run over by a car.
When we filed a claim through Shopify with all the evidence, BRT claimed that our package did not meet their packaging policy, which is a blatant lie. We use high-quality packaging with built-in bubble wrap to protect our products.
Why was our package run over by a car? And why did Shopify do nothing when BRT clearly and blatantly lied?
We feel scammed by Shopify.
Overpriced & overrated
They charge alot. I paid for a year in advance for the savings and after 3 months, they charged my credit card another annual charge but this time it was almost double the first time. They did refund that because I closed my site down instantly upon the 2nd charge. Cost me over approx $170/month for the 3 months and didn't get a single sale.
Avoid
Avoid, avoid, avoid. Dirty scumbag trader who takes money and does not send good or respond to emails. I'm glad it was just only a £10 sale and not more. I'd like to meet this guy in person. Order number #2020.
Great but shipping function too basic
The only real issue I have with Shopify is the very old school shipping rates you get as standard.
I have been using Shopify for 10 plus years now, it works well but I do not like the way I have to use a shipping app to correct the very basic coding of Shopify base shipping via weights.
I do not want to pay an extra $20/month just to be able to add different rates per item.
Shopify need to add a box where I can add my zones and customize the shipping rate for each item.
If you have light weight goods but in oversized/large boxes, Shopify has no way to handle this unless you purchase a shipping app.
Gone are the days where folks would just write free code apps to help you out, now everyone is trying to tie you down to some lame overpriced subscription.
I give it 4 stars, as it has put food on my table for years without much trouble at all and the staff are always very helpful.
