I'm pretty disappointed with my experience with Stripe. I'm a new business and had done a test transaction, and then recently made my first sale ever. Or, at least, I would have made my first sale, bu... See more

Ridiculous. Their interface is a rabbit hole. Nothing is straight forward. Long delays to verify who you are. When you speak with live agent, they have no clue how long resolving matter will take and no direct point of contact to resolve matters. Just a wait and we'll reach out to you.
After 5 years of being a client with hundreds of thousands in sales and zero chargebacks, Stripe Support said they couldn't do what their own webpage says: "If Stripe Radar blocks a payment that you know is legitimate, you can remove the block by viewing the payment in the Dashboard and clicking Add to allow list. Adding a payment to the allow list doesn’t retry the payment, but it does prevent Stripe Radar from blocking future payment attempts with that payment method or email address. Note:
If you don’t see Add to allow list, you can contact us to add this feature to your Radar account."
I contacted Stripe and kindly asked them to do this, but only got a bunch of verbiage about how their machine learning can't be altered, their Supervisors are too busy, and then I was abruptly cut off the chat.
So I must continue to manually create and send invoices to all clients who choose to make multiple monthly payments, and then check my account to see if the client paid. What a waste of time.

If I could give 0 stars I would.
Now I understand why the experience has been so bad..just came here for the first time and saw 1.7 classification.
I have a new app and I already have 2 clients. The goal is for them to have connected accounts and receive payments from their students.
I’m waiting for more than 1 week (my users are also waiting) for them to just explain me why I can’t have SEPA payments enabled for the accounts.
After contacting them like 8 times I received an email saying that it has to be my users to solve this issue…I don’t know if they are kidding or not…my users don’t have to do this things and they don’t even speak English.
I don’t understand why stripe is so widely used…I will definitely try to find another company.
They closed my account after all my payments are successfull—without any explanation or reason. That’s all you need to know about this service.
If you want to come across as an incompetent business, then process your payments through them.
Until the very end, I believed they were being unfairly underrated, but as experience has shown, all the criticism is justified and well-founded. I’m giving them a rating of 0 out of 5.
Customer support simply doesn’t exist—it’s just AI
Beware!
My experience with Stripe's support team has been incredibly frustrating.
What should have been a simple ownership transfer for an existing Stripe account turned into weeks of emails, repeated explanations, conflicting instructions, and no meaningful progress. Despite repeatedly requesting a phone call to avoid confusion, my requests were largely overlooked. Instead of transferring ownership of my existing account, I was instructed to create an entirely new Stripe account—which was never what I asked for.
It genuinely felt as though different support agents were responding without first understanding the history of the case, resulting in unnecessary delays and confusion.
For a company of Stripe's size and reputation, I expected a much higher standard of customer support. Unfortunately, this has been one of the most frustrating support experiences I have ever encountered.
Have a subscription with Sellerboard that wont allow a payment change after trying 4 different credit cards it is clear Stripe's payment system is the problem and there is apparently no fix.

The transaction fees are really starting to eat into my margins. Support is also much slower than it used to be. Had some issues getting the API to play nicely with my site.

If you want your account closed randomly without any explanation, recourse, or logic, go with Stripe. You think it won't happen to you? It may, and then all of your hard work is for nothing. Any time you spend integrating or planning your operations around Stripe can vanish instantly by an algorithmic account closure, and you'll have no recourse once some jr dev vibe code slop closes your account and terminates your ability to collect payment.

I got paid from my first customer it said it’s sent a automated bank transfer but never gotten my money after 20 days

Stripe froze my account and shut me down.
Reason?
'It looks like your business uses practices considered unfair, deceptive, or predatory towards consumers.'
Then when I asked them about it, they changed the story to something else...
'Specifically, we are unable to accept payments for "users who share revenge porn or sexually explicit content without consent"', and then they sent me a link to a Skool group I don't even own, and it clearly has nothing to do with what they described.
Makes no sense at all. I asked even more questions. Our business has done absolutely nothing wrong. We always give refunds when people ask for them. We don't do whatever they accused us of. And then they straight up shut us down with no real explanation and stole our money.

I am still waiting to receive my funds from a payment made on **12 April 2026**. It has now been **over four months**, and I have received no meaningful response from Stripe, no explanation for why the funds are being held, and no indication of when this issue will be resolved.
As a business owner, this experience has been extremely disappointing. Despite contacting Stripe's support team multiple times, I have not received the assistance or transparency I expected. The lack of communication and resolution has had a significant impact on my business.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Stripe to other business owners. I urgently request a clear update: **When will my funds be released?** If there is a legitimate reason for the delay, please explain it. After more than four months, I believe this is a reasonable request.

They close my account and call my platform is dating. My platform is for language exchange and learning and I have a license stating that. They just call it dating and close it, there's difference between dating and language learning. And my money on hold pending. Worst expereince ever, you need to find a better replacement

BEWARE OF STRIPE
A customer paid me AUD 3000 using STRIPE. Despite me providing my ABN verification documentation, they refused to pay out the money to my bank account. Their call centre operates almost like a scam one with assistances of a “review by another team” but all they do is buy time and provide ZERO solution. I still have not received my money.

We have a Stripe account via Shopify.
Stripe failed to acknowledge a complaint within the legal timeframe. Breach of FCA rules.
Stripe did not respond to complaint within the legal time frame. Again a breach of FCA rules.
Stripe does not have accurate information on their FCA registration. Again another breach of FCA rules.
Stripe have not provided a reason why they can’t meet their legal obligations and reply within 15 days as required. Again another breach of FCA rules.
Stripe does not have a proper complaints handling system again another breach of FCA rules.
Do not trust Stripe with your money if they can’t be bothered to comply with the rules. Your money is not safe with them.
We have taken Stripe to the FOS and won our case against them.
Review the decisions on the FOS website and you will see the repeated failures by Stripe.
If you can’t get resolution from Stripe file a FOS complaint. It costs Stripe £750. If you win you will receive your money back and compensation too.

Asking someone to contact support again, when support has already confirmed they can do nothing other than forward the issue to a department that never responds, feels like gaslighting. It creates the impression that a resolution is available when, in practice, customers are simply being sent back through a process that has already failed.
Update: Stripe told me someone would be in contact within 24hrs. 36hrs has come and gone and no response.
Update: I was told that calling I could be directly transferred to the complaints team. In reality customer service is in the Phillippines and there is no way to talk to the complaints team about where my complaints response is after 1 month.
Update: Despite being told that someone would contact within 24hrs. It is now 72hrs and still no response.
Update: Another day another day without any communications from Stripe despite constant promises.

Our experience with Stripe has been extremely frustrating and disappointing.
To be clear, this review is not about Stripe’s decision to place a reserve on our account. We understand why the reserve was implemented and have never disputed Stripe’s right to assess risk.
The issue is Stripe’s complete failure to engage with our actual requests.
We have repeatedly requested the closure of our Stripe account after moving to an alternative payment provider. We have also repeatedly asked whether Stripe would consider releasing 70% of the £94,400.56 currently held in reserve upon account closure.
Despite numerous emails, telephone calls and assurances that the matter was being reviewed, Stripe has consistently responded with generic template emails explaining why the reserve exists or stating that another team is looking into it. These responses completely ignore the questions we have asked.
We have specifically requested clear answers to the following:
• Will Stripe close our account?
• Has our request for a partial release of the reserve upon closure been considered?
• If not, why not?
• If the request has been refused, what is the contractual or regulatory basis for that refusal?
Rather than answering these straightforward questions, Stripe continues to send responses that address an entirely different issue.
The most disappointing aspect has not been the reserve itself, but the lack of transparency, accountability and meaningful communication. It should not take repeated emails, phone calls and formal complaints simply to obtain a clear decision.
Businesses deserve direct answers, not endless template responses that fail to address the issues raised.
Based on our experience, I would not recommend Stripe.
