Stay away from this platform
Stay away from this platform. Total rapists. I purchased a $400 italian leather purse that ended up being some fake material and smelled like a chemical factory to the point I had a headache for two days and my dogs refused to step into the house. Etsy sided with the seller, and after a month of trying to resolve the issue, I finally did a chargeback. I still had the purse stored away from my house in order to avoid health issues and was able to prove with dated photos that it was brand new and unused. I won that dispute but etsy has suspended my account now for almost five months. I will never support this platform again.
If you are a seller, I highly recommned using ebay or mercari. Anything really, just not Etsy.
Etsy is a communist platofrm that rips of good customers. I had my account without any issues for over 15 years and spent well over $10,000....what a bunch of losers with their vulgar customers.
Many years back I was sold a fake gemstone, and when I insisted that the seller allow me to return it for a refund, he refused. I reported him to Etsy and Etsy demanded that I pay at my own cost for a certificate of authenticity which my jeweler back then charged $75 for. I asked that if I produce one and am able to reurn the fake gemstone for a refund, will the seller or Etsy cover the cost of the certificate and Etsy replied that No, I bare the cost of the certificate. The Audacity. Then the seller got mad that I reported him to Etsy and wrote me a message that he is going to rip my clothes off and rape me (seller from India). I reported that to Esty and they did nothing, not even respond.
Etsy needs to leave this country and go to some communist country where it belongs.

I sent for a rug from Velora rugs in India. The rug never arrived £111 pounds down and the support mechanism is dreadful. I will never buy from them again . Heather

Etsy is a good site to find hand made stuff or things that aren't available in most stores.. I never had any problems with products received or customer service. But shipping cost is most of the time too high...it keeps me from ordering from them. Shipping can cost the same as the product cost or more...
I have purchased a verity of crochet…
I have purchased a verity of crochet patterns from Etsy, and those in which the seller was based in the US or UK went well. It is often difficult to ascertain where a seller originates, however. Those from Eastern nations or China have different computer systems and so downloading a PFD program becomes a nightmare. Getting a refund from Etsy is also next to impossible. A Chinese definition of beginner can also be quite different than mine!
COMPLETE FRAUD...DON'T PURCHASE THROUGH ETSY
I placed an order through ETSY purchasing an item from on of the vendors on their site. The item of clothing was awful: crooked seams and gaps. Tried to return it but no information on the vendor is available and ETSY does not stand behind their vendors. Their complicated email has non-existant URL addressed. Complete FRAUD. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THEM!

I have been ordering a lot of beautiful items off this site for years. I just recently got scammed by a seller who is sending items not pictured in they’re shop. I paid over $200 for an item and I could NOT open a case after getting the run atound if course from the conartist seller. It is IMPOSSIBLE to contact Etsy for help. I had to file it through paypal. Super disgusted.

I have been selling with Etsy for 4 years on the side of my main channels and have 1.1k 4.9* reviews on their platform.
They have now started removing listings for no reason with no appeal process.
I would not be surprised if my store got closed soon.
Etsy are total trash and deserve their downfall.

"Amyjewelry1012" sent my order to an address I hadn't used for about a decade.
I know this happened as I consistantly enter my address instead of allowing it to be autofilled. This way it doesn't "scrape" and provide any additional information.
Amy began to do childish playground name calling. I stopped payment on the credit card.
I quickly found, ordered and had what I needed from a non etsy vendor.
Also suspect additional of our information may have eventually been shared. For dimestore quality stuff, it is just better to go elsewhere.

Absolutely appalling customer service from Etsy.
I ordered an item that never arrived. The seller has already agreed in writing to issue me a refund, but despite saying this, no refund has actually been received.
Trying to get any meaningful help from Etsy has been incredibly frustrating. This morning I was told on chat that I had to wait seven days before I could open a case, despite it already being eight days since the relevant point in the order. Then, when I contacted Etsy again this evening, the same support person started telling me it was actually nine or ten days.
So apparently Etsy’s own customer service team cannot even give a consistent answer about their own buyer protection process.
There is also no straightforward way to speak to somebody who can actually take ownership of the problem. The chat support has been generic, repetitive and completely unhelpful. Instead of looking at the actual circumstances — an undelivered order, a seller who has acknowledged that a refund is due, and a refund that still has not been issued — I have simply been given changing waiting periods and scripted responses.
The whole point of buying through a platform such as Etsy is supposed to be that there is some level of protection when something goes wrong. Instead, I have spent far too much time chasing both the seller and Etsy, while Etsy appears incapable of providing a clear answer or resolving a very simple issue.
I am now having to consider recovering the money through my bank despite the seller already agreeing that I should be refunded.
Etsy seriously needs to improve its customer service. Customers should be able to reach someone who understands the situation, gives accurate information and has the authority to actually resolve a problem, rather than being passed around an ineffective chat system and given contradictory answers.
A dreadful experience and one that has seriously put me off buying through Etsy again.
Cookie compliance
There are numerous products I've seen and would like to purchase via Etsy. However, it seems that Etsy thinks it is OK to agree to share data and will not allow one to decline cookies. (Even thought one has already opted out via State law.
Etsy allows payments to sellers who are no longer on the platform
Etsy allows payments to sellers who are no longer on the platform
I placed and paid for an order on Etsy. I was subsequently informed by Etsy itself that the seller was no longer on the platform. The seller had not contacted me at all.
When I requested cancellation, Etsy refunded me immediately. I appreciate the prompt refund, but that is not the point.
If Etsy already knew that this seller was no longer active on the platform, why was I allowed to place and pay for the order in the first place?
If a seller has been suspended, removed or is otherwise no longer active, Etsy should either prevent new purchases or clearly inform customers BEFORE accepting their payment.
Buyers should not have to pay first, discover afterwards that the seller is no longer on the platform, and then request their money back.
This is not the first time this has happened to me, which makes it even more concerning. The issue is not simply an unreliable seller; it is the way Etsy’s platform handles these situations.
A refund after the fact does not compensate for a lack of transparency before the transaction. Etsy should protect buyers by preventing these purchases from happening in the first place.
Etsy Takes My Money but Cannot Explain My Shop’s Visibility
I have been selling on Etsy for 5 months and have invested a huge amount of my own time and money into my shop. I create my listings and designs myself and manage my shop and customers personally.
My shop has 5-star reviews, Star Seller status, no cases and no late orders. Yet I continue to struggle with organic visibility.
I also spent $1,687.07 on Etsy Ads, with $2,789.59 in attributed sales. This is gross revenue, not profit. After product costs and the other Etsy fees, I am still in a loss.
My biggest problem is not that Etsy cannot guarantee sales. I understand that. My problem is that Etsy controls the advertising and search distribution, charges me for the traffic, but cannot explain whether my products are being shown to the right buyers.
I contacted Etsy Seller Support about this. They confirmed that my shop is active and that there are no technical blocks, restrictions or suppressions on my shop. However, they could not explain my actual search visibility or provide an account-specific explanation of how my listings are being distributed.
Instead, I received general answers about buyer behavior, dynamic search and creating listings that convert.
I believe Etsy’s algorithm gives a major advantage to sellers who already have a large sales history, while new sellers have a very difficult time getting enough visibility to build that history in the first place.
My experience with Etsy has been extremely disappointing. I have invested my time, my work and a significant amount of money into the platform, while Etsy continues collecting advertising, listing, renewal and subscription fees without giving me a clear explanation of why my shop receives the visibility it does.
I am sharing this review because this has been my genuine experience with Etsy as a seller, and I believe other new sellers should know what my experience has been.
Esty does not support the consumer

I needed a sign for a community garden I planned for a client. This group was having a event so there was a timeline I needed this item to arrive in. The initial delivery window displayed when I ordered the item was about 2 weeks till I'd receive the item.
Two days after purchase I got message from the seller that the production time would be 2-3weeks. Then they would deliver. This message stated expedited production was available for a fee BUT this needed to be set up prior to submitting the order. OK??!! annoying but I just had faith that this person would get my item to me in time.
Fast forward 3 + weeks I get a deliver notification. The date comes and goes. I REACH OUT TO THEM to ask where is my order? They respond with a laundry list of excuses. Then stated that "if I still need the item"... "if I approve the layout they MAYBE can get it in the mail tomorrow". Meaning if I have to approve the layout, they haven't even put it into production yet. Zero cares given at all about the situation I'm in with the expected client receiving this item now 2 weeks late
A layout approval message was sent weeks before stating to responded if you need changes otherwise the time would be put into production
So now I'm at a month out and the item is not even created. The event has passed and my relationship with my client is damaged. Instead of getting to work and fulfilling the order the seller canceled the order. Saying they can't meet my high expectations.
The Seller is below
Ken and Emily Holtz
Rochester, NY

I contact Etsy Support and they kept sighting my high expectations. Which is completely false. I had the bare minimum expectation. This was to create and deliver my order. That's the basic fundamental principal of this company.
They stated if the seller cancels enough orders they will take them off the platform. So this seller gave me the run around for over a month while I penitently waited while the timeline kept changing. They sent me a delivery confirmation. Then canceled my order.
And I have too high expectations, the Esty Support team also sited my high expectations and did nothing to help. They also sent condescending cut and paste email template minimizing this issue. They kept saying you've been refunded so what's the issue?
Refunding my money for an item I didn't receive is also bare minimum which nobody at Esy seems to understand
Both the support staff and the "manage" both had the same template. The manager never responded after the initial engagement so don't expect any help with any issue
I had to find another vendor who quickly helped me and got the item prepared and shipped with in 3 days. So I know that I don't have some crazy high expectations.
What's worse is there a review just after my problem saying how loooong the product took to arrive. This kind person gave 5 stars anyways. And the Seller responded with a load of crap saying it was lost in transit and thank you for still giving a 5 star. So they are continuing to drag people with not policing from Etsy
SELLERS AT ETSY ARE NOT HELD TO ANY STANDARDS. IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS, YOU WILL NOT HAVE ANY SUPPORT
Don’t trust this company
Don’t trust this company, their “so called sellers” took my money and never sent my iPhone case. They don’t even have a telephone number…doesn’t that say everything…an *illigimate*
company has a phone number….no customer service whatsoever.
Etsy was one month late in delivering…
Etsy was one month late in delivering the product I ordered. They also refused to refund me or cancel the order even though it was clear that the delivery was so late. I had to find an alternative supplier. Very disappointing service and I will not be ordering from them again.
Avoid this site
My order arrived weeks after it was due, and was still not correct. I went through the open a case option with Etsy to try and get this resolved as the seller was not helpful. Etsy automatically refunded me the money, and now I am getting harassed and distressed by the seller who is bombarding me with multiple messages day and night and nobody at Etsy is helping me. Absolutely AVOID THIS SITE, it is fine when things go right but if things go wrong then you are on your own with no help or support.
Ordered three copper bottles on 5…
Ordered three copper bottles on 5 August. Never arrived in the estimated shipping timeframe. No tracking online. I opened case. Looks like they were never shipped from the response. Can't leave a negative review. Absolutely pathetic service.
Hello Sir/Ma’am,
I sincerely apologize for the delay with your order. I completely understand your frustration, and I am truly sorry that your order has taken longer than expected.
I would like to explain that we experienced a temporary shortage of the material required to make this particular bottle, which unfortunately caused the delay on our side. I sincerely apologize that I did not get your order shipped within the expected timeframe.
I am happy to inform you that we received a full new stock of this bottle just yesterday, so the item is now available and ready to be shipped.
Once again, I am genuinely sorry for the delay and for any inconvenience this has caused you.
Please let me know what you would prefer: I can ship your bottle to you now with the available stock, or, if you no longer wish to wait because of the delay, I completely understand and can proceed with a refund.
I sincerely apologize again and would appreciate knowing which resolution you would prefer.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

My BUYER account has been suspended since February 2026, and I still can't pay for anything as of today, 3 Sept 2026. The crime: user found guilty for BUYING some digital watercolour cliparts to use for a project instead of just downloading them from other platforms, for free. To make the crime even more dangerous, the user’s profile states they live in the UK but the IP shows they are somewhere else because god forbid users have multiple citizenships and legally live in more than ONE country. And if this was not enough of a crime, the user is using multiple devices to log on to Etsy (HELLO, ETSY, welcome to 2026, where people own phones + a tablet + a laptop at the same time!).
I have contacted customer service, I have already explained the situation, yet, my account is still suspended. I should not have to spend time writing emails to customer service to explain this ridiculous situation because I have not done anything wrong.
Shame on you Etsy!
I have trying to recieve a refund for a wig…
I have trying to recieve a refund for a product I did not want. The fact that it came from Shein was hidden. Once I got a hold of the seller he was a bully. I asked Etsy to help and they were on the sellers side
The application is a nightmare to use and the important items you need are hidden. I did leave a message explaining the horrible customer service from Etsy and they didn't bother to respond or try to retain me as a buyer. As soon as my refund shows in my account I will delete the app. And place a negative rating every where I can.
