-1 ⭐ Bank representing Swiss Standards!

-1 ⭐
I am writing this to document an exhausting experience with Bank Cler that lasted nearly two months. After over two years as a client with this institution, I was subjected to a total lack of transparency and a standard of communication that was mediocre at best.

The bank effectively held my funds for eight weeks due to a minor dispute involving a negligible amount of 350 Euro. This reaction was entirely disproportionate and lacked any sense of professional judgment. Throughout this period, I was met with vague responses and a "compliance wall" that refused to provide clear timelines or accountability.

While there were a few individuals at the branch level who remained professional, they clearly lacked the internal authority to override a broken and silent management system.

It is telling that my funds were only released once I was forced to engage legal counsel and initiate further steps for escalation. Only when faced with formal legal pressure did the bank finally act. Furthermore, being charged fees for a transaction that failed due to the bank's own internal delays is a matter of principle that I find fundamentally improper.

Account Closed: I will never again step foot into such a mediocre institution that lacks visibility and operates with such institutional arrogance. I have moved my capital to a bank that values transparency and respects its clients.

If you are a client who values your rights and expects clear communication, look elsewhere.

I still remember the day I joined GBT

I still remember the day I joined GBT. Their platform was sleek, modern, and loaded with promises. They advertised cutting-edge AI trading tools, bank-level encryption, and “unbreakable” security. The website felt polished and professional exactly what you’d expect from a top-tier investment service. I didn’t hesitate. I uploaded my documents, connected my bank account, and bought into the vision. It didn’t take long for things to go wrong.

One morning, I checked my email and saw a flood of alerts multiple login attempts, failed password resets, and a chilling subject line from GBT: “Security Notification Immediate Action Required.” My stomach dropped. I logged in what was left of my balance was gone. My data, my funds, my trust it had all been compromised. GBT had been breached, and I was caught in the middle.

The days that followed were a blur. I filed complaints, froze my accounts, and tried to wrap my head around what happened. I was constantly on edge, jumping at every email and notification. What hit hardest wasn’t just the financial loss it was realizing how easily I had been misled by polished branding and technical buzzwords. I thought I was being careful. But GBT sold me safety, and delivered none.

Their support team was nowhere when it mattered. I received automated messages, generic apologies, and scripted statements about “ongoing investigations.” There was no real explanation, no offer to make things right — just delay after delay. It felt like they were more concerned with saving face than protecting their users.

Thankfully, I found CONQUAERO..., and they helped me recover part of what was lost. They were professional, transparent, and fast, everything GBT should have been. But the experience changed me. I no longer trust platforms based on looks or promises. I dig deeper, read reviews, and question everything. Because in today’s world, digital trust is earned not claimed.

Today on the 25th Sep 2024

Today on the 25th Sep 2024, once again (this happens frequently), I can't access my bank. It is also very difficult to get in touch with the bank. I don't understand why at least they don't provide any information on the app and homepage that they are at working on the issue. Today I have to pay a bill and make an important transfer and can't do that!

it is impossible to call the bank, the phone number given on the site is always busy.
where is the worldwide known "swiss quality" everybody is expecting from a swiss bank?

Not able to login since a week

I’m a customer since four years now, and the app has its drawbacks, but it generally works.
Now, since almost a week, I’m not able to login at all - and since they only offer mobile access, this means I have no access to my account. Since a couple weeks, the app has been behaving, visibly slower, but I could still login and operate it.
Now, not being able to login, could mean that some payments are not done in time. This worries me.
I was not able to talk with anyone over the phone and only submitted my feedback.

Avoid - can not do simple daily banking

This is a review of ZAK Cler app account. I wanted to transfer money approx 15kCHF out into another bank account, this was instantly declined with the message that you had to call them in order to release the funds, no one answers the calls or you are put on hold for very long so I gave up. I decided to transfer a smaller amount instead, 10kCHF seems to work, so i continued to transfer smaller amounts like 2kCHF, 1kCHF but some of them started getting declined whereas others went through all in all made more than 15 transfers to get my money out and still some was left in the account. Please keep in mind each time you have to enter a stupid sms code into the app! I finally got through to the call centre 3 days later in order to transfer the remaining 900CHF and asking why my transfer were blocked. Lady replied that there is a limit of 20k, I told her I was transferring less then that and why did it allow me to continue to transfer smaller amounts continuously? - she did not know and said that its not possible to transfer more than the balance on the account. Next she mistakenly released one of my failed transfers so now my balance was NEGATIVE -1000CHF, a moment ago she just said it wasn't possible to withdraw more than you have! - there seems to be no basic risk control at all and a headache just to do simple bank transfers! Closing this account, life is too short to deal with this sort of incompetency.

Awful Experience

We banked with Bank Coop, which then became Bank Cler, for nearly 10 years. Bank Cler is a horrible bank, and awful people to deal with; it is the very worst of Switzerland.

So many people cannot be wrong. Who would want to deal with an organization like this?

We moved our account, almost under duress, and are so happy for doing so.

Horrible app, avoid at all costs

Horrible app, one of the worst I've ever seen. It's impossible to even log on. I have only been able to log on once after opening the account nearly month ago. Since then I have only received error messages saying there is a problem with the app at this time.

I have not received any contract docs via email or post either, despite my account opening being confirmed in the app. I have transferred money into my new account as required for opening the account, but I have no way to access this money as the app never works. Recently I've received an SMS saying that I need to provide extra KYC docs in the app, which I obviously can't do if the app literally does not allow me to even log on.

More trouble than it is worth.

More trouble than it is worth.

When I signed up I didn't receive any information relating to One being needed to use the debit card. So, when I received funds into my account over one month after account opening I couldn't actually use my card to pay my bills.

Then, as I was also in the process of setting up online banking for my Bank Cler Sparkonto (which also took around 4 weeks to get opened) I suddenly couldn't acess my Zak app either. No way to use my card and no way to transfer money to another card.

Eventually after 1 hour on the phone I got my online banking setup. But, when I tried to send the fund somewhere else I needed a Tan code sent to my phone. This code also then never arrived and I had to call again. Time wasters.

Great interface, friendly support and decent offering

I opened an account early on with ZAK, the digital arm of Cler and I still like it quite a bit. One key plus is that there is a real and friendly support behind it. The few times I had to call, the question was resolved immediately. I very much like that part.
The sub-accounts are a great feature and the cards are good too - as long as used in Switzerland.
It is my main bank by now for payments as the interface is much easier than for example Revolut.

Complete Breakdown of Customer Service

I have been a customer of Bank Coop since 2008 and I experienced professional services from the bank for my mortgage and investment portolio,

However, since the transition to Bank Cler, I have experienced only what could be described as abysmal service without any transparency.

On three occasions, I have escalated my issues to the central customer service office in Basel as my local bankfilial is in Bern.

Examples of lack of transparency:

In the online banking web site, there is no way to see how 3a account is linked to a 3a depot. The accounts are listed without any indication of which accounts/depots are linked.

I was informed that the Steuerverzeichnis fee for 2020 was not yet defined, although the printed material stated that it would cost 75 CHF. It was changed to free, without any written correspondence to inform me of the change. This change took place sometime in January 2021.

My contact person at the bank has given me mulitple incorrect documentation and I have repeatedly had to contact him to request to have the information corrected. The changes have not been made.

On 15. April, 2021, I requested the new offer to renew my mortgage. 7 weeks later, I did not receive any correspondence. I complained about the lack of communication and was told that he was on vacation and did not name a substitute to handle his requests during his absence.

I have decided to cease all business with Bank Cler.
I believe that the bank has not formulated any cohesive strategy and has no idea how to serve its long-time customer base. I have requested on multiple occasions to speak with the Director of the Bank in Basel to express my displeasure and inform her of my experiences, but the bank has not given me the opportunity to do so.

It is unfortunate that after so many years with the former Bank Coop, I am no longer able to place any trust in Bank Cler.

schlechte Kommunikation und mangelnde Transparenz

Brace for poor communications and lack of transparency.

Beware that starting (but not completing) the registration process for a bank account with their app Zak may lead to charges, even when you alert the bank to cancel your incomplete registration.
