Another company letting go of good…
Another company letting go of good customer support. I've been using Lastpass for years, been paying for their product and have had good use out of it for a long time.
I can't live without a password manager anymore, so if Lastpass is getting worse, I have to look somewhere else.
Over the years, their service has had its ups and downs. However, the company deliberately decides to drop good customer support and hands it over to the "community" and bots. Worst decision a company can ever make, look at any business that does the same. Many many unsatisfied customers with issues that never get resolved.
The vault is working, yes, but it is not always integrated into every website. I use lastpass most on my phone and in my browser. With the browser, it is easy to find a password, copy and paste it when necessary and continue.
In some cases, the password manager doesn't recognize the password field, or the window, and doesn't autofill for you. This is somewhat annoying but can be solved with the extension by just searching for the password you need. Is this how their service is advertised to work? No, it should make password managing easier, but it rarely does. The only "easy" about it, is that you don't have to remember all the passwords you use.
The Android app is even worse and has never really been updated in a way that it works all the time. Many apps that need a login, don't work with Lastpass. If it does work, Lastpass can give you popups that freeze on your screen and stay there for several minutes, unresponsive and in the way, stuck to the foreground of your screen.
Other times you get a bar above your keyboard with passwords that are not even close to the kind of website you're visiting. Even if you have an account and password saved, it just doesn't show up.
The worst part of all this is that, on your phone, you have to open Lastpass apart from the app or browser you try to put your password in.
This can lead to irritating loops, especially if you don't change the time your password stays on the clipboard.
The service is not worth the money they ask for it. It was when I started using it, Lastpass was mentioned as one of the better password managers. With the experience I had, I could agree on that.
The fact that they now push you to a community based support system is the worst ever. Chatting with a customer support worker is non-existent, because you keep getting a chat bot with the most useless answers. There is no human interaction anymore.
I won't call them, I don't want to end up in a waiting line to get a bit of help with my PAID product. Just like I don't need other users to tell me how to fix an issue with their product.
Lastpass, the CEO's, the managers, the stakeholders (if any) are consumed by greed, just like most companies these days. They don't care about their customer base, just the money the customers bring in. This is the sad reality of humanity.
I think it is time to look for other services that work better than Lastpass.
