The worst booking platform I ever used and will never use again. 3 weeks to get a refund for a booking confirmation that never arrived.

A masterclass in avoiding responsibility

This has been, without question, the worst customer service experience I have ever had with a travel company.

After my flight was disrupted, Expedia first told me to wait 72 hours because JetBlue would come back with an alternative itinerary. I waited exactly as instructed.

After those 72 hours, Expedia suddenly claimed that no alternative flights existed and that my only option was a refund.

When I pointed out that I could see alternative flights myself, the explanation kept changing. I received multiple contradictory emails, each telling a different story.

To make matters worse, one of Expedia’s emails wasn’t even addressed to me—it was sent to “Masuma” instead of my own name. At that moment I genuinely wondered whether I was dealing with a legitimate company or a scam because the communication was so careless and unprofessional.

I then asked Expedia to explain the contradictory information and to provide evidence of what JetBlue had supposedly told them. Instead of answering my questions, they simply refused and told me to contact JetBlue directly.

This is especially frustrating because, earlier in the booking process, JetBlue had already informed me that they could not make changes to my booking because I had booked through Expedia and that I had to contact Expedia instead.

As a customer, I was simply passed back and forth between Expedia and JetBlue, with each party referring me to the other whenever it became inconvenient.

I expect much more from a global travel company. Good customer service means taking ownership, communicating consistently and helping your customer find a solution—not sending contradictory template emails and leaving the customer to resolve everything themselves.

Very disappointing. I will think twice before ever booking through Expedia again.

Confirmed booking cancelled by supplier; no support from Expedia

Our confirmed booking was cancelled by the supplier. As he didn't reply at all, tried to solve this via Expedia. No support from Expedia at all. Impossible to contact them. Only complete useless jungle of FAQ's and an even more useless chatbot. The human touch is completely gone. If you do not appreciate any kind of support and service, Expedia is your choice.

On 4 different moments i have tried to…

On 4 different moments i have tried to book a package holiday with Expedia. 4 times, the website said the payment details were incorrect; however, they have made 4 reservations on my credit card. They cannot release the reservations -keep in mind no bookings were made-. Expedia blamed it on hotel and/or flight availability and/or my credit score or solvency.

In total, Expedia is withholding the reservation for over 21 days. When I asked them for their legal address, office, or complaint manager, the answer was "we do not have those things" -very strange for a listed company-

I stongly urge people not to book through expedia despite the fact that i have enjoyed over 14 trips with Expedia before -on the same creditcard-.

the booking process and customer service are horriffic.

I booked a trip with Expedia-no return flight

I booked a trip with Expedia…the trip to Tampa was on 6/25 with Breeze the return flight was on Spirit 6/29. Well Spirit shut down…when I contacted Expedia immediately they informed me it had to find the return trip, which they did NOT assist in with the cost or even offer direction. They had my money, and didn’t care! I will NEVER use them again! Expedia customer service was HORRIBLE!! CheapO-Air was fantastic! I’d give 0 stars if it were an option!

Atrocious of a company

Atrocious of a company. Very easy to use and book online. But when flights are cancelled that are out of your control. Refunding is a nightmare. Bought and paid for two tickets to Pakistan via Etihad and Emirates. Paid £1300 for return journeys for two people. After the airline cancelling, I had to ring with 2-3 hours on hold then get told refund will be base price. What ever that means. Got refunded £200 for the outbound flight and then a month later and another 10-12 hours of holding on phone, was told I would get refunded in full. What happened, got the base price refunded again which is peanuts by the way. So out of £1300 got back £400. Out of pocket £900. Trying to get through and get to speak to someone is a nightmare. And then get told to wait 30 days for they recycle to go through. Whatever that means to get refunded but as usual nothing happens or comes through. So if you want to get SHAFTED. Then use EXPEDIA. I would give zero stars but they're not worth the 1 star. Utterly atrocious company to deal with. Will take your money in a breath and then to refund you. Excuse after excuse and still 6 months on, absolutely nothing. Liars and cheats is what they are. THIEVES.

I rented a car through Expedia

I rented a car through Expedia, a vehicle for a 4-day family trip to the Keys.
The day to pick up my car arrived, and I entered the address they sent in my reservation confirmation. As I was heading there, I realized I had arrived at the wrong place. I checked the address they had sent me, and it was the exact same one I had entered.
SURE ENOUGH, they had given me the wrong address.
I wasted 30 minutes of my time. I rushed out and called the rental car company; they told me they were still open. I hurried up and sped all the way there.
When I arrived, they told me the car I had reserved WAS NOT AVAILABLE. And that nothing in that category was available either. They said if I wanted, I could take a van for an extra $305.
WHAT A DISRESPECT. I couldn’t go on my trip at all, and everything was a total waste of time.
NEVER USE THIS APP.
NEVER BOOK ON EXPEDIA.
DO NOT USE IT!!!!

Expedite fights for your

Expedia listened to my complaints that I had with a car rental agency in Curacao and at first I wasn’t able to get a refund but Expedia kept fighting for me and really valued my concerns. In the end they were successful at retrieving a refund for me. I appreciate there hard work. I’ve been an Expedia customer for decades and I will continue to be loyal to them, they have a great reward program with the one key credit card and better than average customer service.

Really bad experience as a hotelier

Really bad experience as a hotelier. Each issue takes almost a month to be resolved. Very rude customer service on the phone and not helpful at all. Unfortunately, it is not just a one time incident but just a pattern every time we have to call their support.

If there was an option for NEGATIVE…

If there was an option for NEGATIVE stars that is what they earned! Reserved a hotel room for 2 nights on a busy weekday in Fargo ND. After not getting my itinerary I called to find out details and went on a 2.5 hr trip to NOWHERE! Excuse after excuse but never any ownership of their errors or any way to get my money refunded. I have spent more than a month trying to get my money back for the reservation that was never completed. I gave them my order ID #, my transaction id # and they are unable to do anything without the itinerary number that they never sent me. I plan to take them to small claims court simply out of the principle of it. $423.62 they received is stolen as far as I am concerned!
DO NOT USE THEM IF YOU WANT THINGS TO GO SMOOTHLY!

Disappointing customer support…

Disappointing customer support experience.

Upon arrival, the accommodation had to be refused due to clear hygiene and safety issues, including poor cleanliness and conditions that were not suitable for a safe stay. The property later acknowledged that the apartment had not been properly cleaned or checked prior to check-in and refunded the stay.

However, a remaining €45 parking fee for a service that was never used has still not been resolved. Despite multiple written requests, a formal notice, and repeated follow-ups, Expedia continued to state they were awaiting the property’s response. Promised follow-ups within specific timeframes were not met, and communication eventually stopped.

This experience demonstrated a lack of effective case ownership and accountability in handling a straightforward and reasonable request. Given the circumstances, I expected more proactive support from Expedia.

This customer service is trained to…

This customer service is trained to deal with unsolved problems. Do not call for any help, as they think that the we dont know its a Ai bot they depend on. The depend so heavily on that ai even the customer service just cant do anything around the ai. Owner of this company basically only wanna deal with income and doesnt care about the safety of his service. If it were for them once you paid they wont care. So never pay on the site bettersaid just call the hotel. This compantmy is just a money laundering company with undiplomatic people behind the desk that dont know how to fix the companys problems. The reviews say enoungh. And you can trust me ive been booking on expedia for over 4 years never had a problem because i dint have one. this is litterly the first time ive tried calling the customer service and they basically tell you to figure it out. Thank you for the service but im never paying for anything before i get there cause expedia will just take your money. Just go to thier competitors maybe they got a better sevice.

Avoid Expedia. Buy direct from hotel, airline etc.

Expedia has an awful, slow *and* inefficient customer service.

Awful: the first step in your call is an AI answering system that takes you in loops. It gives you extremely little time to input information it wants before it starts pressing you. In between "talking" to you, the machine makes clicking sounds like those of a 1990s keyboard.

Inefficent: Finally, after going around in menu circles with their AI thing, you get to a human being. You explain your issue, provide information, and they may claim they've resolved your problem -- but not!!! When you verify, nothing has been solved. It's a sham and you wasted your time.

The details: I booked a round ticket through Expedia to Syracuse, NY-San Diego California, to attend the cremation of a close, dear relative. When the FAA ordered airlines to cancel a significant percentage of their flights due 2025 government shutdown and the ensuing air traffic controller shortage , I received an email from Delta Airlines saying I could cancel without penalty.

The airline couldn't handle the cancellation because I purchased the ticket from Expedia. So I called Expedia, dealt with the cringe and anxiety-inducing AI customer-run-arounder and finally got to a customer service person. After I explained I wanted to cancel because given the circumstances I was unlikely to arrive for the cremation, she processed the cancellation. When she finished she assured me I would be refunded to my "original form of payment" (i.e., my credit card) in a few days. Five days later, nothing.

Start from scratch. Deal with the AI rigmarole and finally, another customer service person. This one spoke at the speed of a machine gun, took her time finding things out but, like the AI thing, wanted quick answers to her requests for information. After 51 minutes one the phone, like her colleague she claimed to have issued a refund.

We'll see. Next step is asking the credit card to intervene.

The object lesson: never, ever, do business with Expedia. Go straight to the service provider.

CALL FOR AWARENESS: EXPEDIA REFUSES REFUND AFTER HOSPITALIZATION

Dear friends and fellow travelers,

I would like to share my experience with Expedia, hoping to warn others and to find people who have had similar problems.

Together with my son, I booked a business class trip from Brussels to Miami and Nassau and back to Brussels through Expedia, for a total of €7,808.
Shortly before departure, my Son was unexpectedly hospitalized and, of course, unable to travel.

The cancellation was reported on time, with all required medical certificates and supporting documents.
According to Expedia’s own contractual terms, in the case of a regular cancellation (without illness), a penalty of €1,378 per person would apply, which would result in a refund of €5,052.

However, in the event of illness or hospitalization, the contract clearly states that a full refund should be issued.

To this day, Expedia has not refunded anything, neither the €5,052 that would be due in a normal cancellation, nor the full amount owed under their illness policy.

What followed was months of endless excuses and broken promises:
• We were repeatedly told to be patient,
• Then came all sorts of irrelevant explanations and delays,
• Eventually, Expedia even promised repayment in writing.

After months without any progress, we involved a lawyer.
When Expedia received the legal notice, they again claimed that payment was on its way, and then suddenly stopped responding altogether.

We have now taken legal action, and what we discovered is shocking:
The so-called Expedia “office” in Belgium, located at Kunstlaan 56 in Brussels, turned out to be nothing more than an empty room, a single desk and chair, with no staff or actual activity.
Our bailiff confirmed that this entity has no assets, which means that even with a court judgment, there may be nothing to collect.

Meanwhile, Expedia continues to operate worldwide, and it is clear that we are not the only ones facing this kind of issue.

That’s why I’m reaching out: SHARE THIS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE PLEASE
Has anyone else experienced similar problems with Expedia regarding refunds or cancellations?

Please share your experience in the comments or by private message.
Together, we can:
• share information,
• warn others,
• and possibly take collective action.

Please SHARE THIS POST WIDELY so more PEOPLE BECOME AWARE of these practices.
No one should have to fight for month ‘s for a rightful refund after being hospitalized.

Thank you for your support and for helping spread the word 🙏

Scammers, first class.

Scammers, first class. Despite the negative reviews, we decided to give it a shot. Big mistake. We booked a car rental for our Costa Rica trip through Expedia, thinking everything was covered. But when we arrived to pick up the car, we were hit with a long list of extra charges, insurance, fees, and more. Expedia makes it seem like the price you pay upfront is the total cost. Trust me: it’s not
