Professional formatting, but be clear about scope and timescales
Maple Publishers – professional formatting, but be clear about scope and timescales
My overall experience with Maple Publishers was positive. The finished book was professionally formatted and the quality of the final product was high.
At times, however, I found communication and the turnaround of edits a little slow. I also felt they were quite persistent in recommending additional editing and proofreading services beyond the formatting work I originally wanted.
If you are clear about the service you need, agree realistic timescales at the outset, and are confident about managing your own manuscript and publishing decisions, Maple can produce a very professional result.
For straightforward book formatting, I would use them again.
A company to be avoided.
Similar to other folk who have posted reviews. Hardcover book ordered and they sent an ebook. Initially they tried to imply I was at fault in ordering an ebook which wasn’t the case. I don’t think they actually had any hardcover copies of the book in question as they admitted they couldn’t supply one subsequently. So in effect it was a marketing con. After many emails they said they would refund me but this never happened.
AVOID AT ALL COST.
AVOID AT ALL COST.
Yep. Same as many of the reviews. Selected hardback, paid, got receipt and link (with no indication it was going to download the softcopy) did that. They then refused to provide a hardcopy saying the transaction was closed. It is engineered to provide a soft copy even though you have selected a hardcopy. Cheats.
AVOID these SCAMMERS!
AVOID these SCAMMERS!
I too got caught out, ordering a clearly marked hardback book and receiving nothing. Said they didn’t give refunds so got my £9.00 spent back easily by contracting the fraud department of my credit card company.
Don’t let them get away with it!
I ordered Jamie Oliver BBQ…
I ordered Jamie Oliver BBQ book, hardcover, but received only download link.No answer from their support.
Avoid Mapleshelf
Like other reviewers, I thought I had purchased a physical book. After a week or so I asked about delivery and was told that a download link was in my order confirmation. I asked to cancel the order or change it to a physical book but was told the order was final and could not be changed. So a complete scam and a company to be avoided at all costs.
Really wish I'd read the reviews first
Really wish I'd read the reviews first. Website stated hardcover no confirmation email was sent but payment was taken promptly. Then received email saying order was being processed but it had switched to download.
They are now ignoring any communication.
Don't waste your time/money with this company!
This is a scam site
This is a scam site. You believe you’ve ordered a hard back then they send a digital file. Then they tell you that you have got confused and not understood what you have bought. Demand your money back. They will tell you it’s not possible. They’re lying (again). tell them you will go via your bank for fraud and report to Trading Standards if they don’t refund. They will refund you. What a bunch of lowlifes.
This is a scam website
This is a scam website. They only sell digital books but claim to sell physical copies. They should be taken off Google search results.
Do not buy from this company
Not at all impressed with this Company. The book I ordered as advertised was a paperback book but they sent me an ebook which isn’t any good to me as it was purchased as a gift for an elderly aunt who doesn’t have access to online services. Wrote to Customer Services who basically said tough! Please do not buy from them.
Another disapointed customer
I have only just read the reviews and like most people I am very disappointed as I thought I was buying physical books. I guess I have learned the hard way like everyone else and won't be buying there again, partcularly as the downloads are expensive.
Do not buy from this company
Terrible company - it’s a scam
I purchased a hard back book from this company but they sent me a link for a downloadable book instead. They send an email confirmation for your order with a downloadable link for the book and there is nothing on the email about the hardback book you thought you had purchased. You have no proof whatsoever, and when you contact them they say that it is your fault, you bought the downloadable version.
Do not touch with a barge pole
Do not touch with a barge pole. I ordered a hard back edition. I received a link to an ebook. When I pointed this out, they said my order was for an ebook - I never order ebooks. I sent them a website screenshot of the order page showing that it was for a hardback. They insisted I had ordered an ebook. I persisted and eventually got a refund to my credit card. A very poor buying experience.
Ordered a hard back book but sent a digital version
Ordered a hard back book but sent a digital version. Emailed several times with no response and the ‘phone number has a recorded message which doesn’t connect with anyone. The other phone number listed is not recognised.
From our awful experience do not buy from this company!
Do not use this site it is a scam!
Do not use this site it is a scam!! I ordered a hardcopy cover of Enough by Dawn French which was advertised as being on special offer. I have not received a book, but been given a link to access an ebook. Despite my complaints I am being refused a refund so am reporting this site as a scam!
Hard copy book scammers to be avoided
Having ordered a hard copy book at a discount, this company takes the money and emails an order confirmation that claims that an electronic copy was ordered.
I know what I ordered and I don't use electronic books.
Despite contacting their support email, they automatically reply to the first two contacts to keep saying an electronic copy was ordered, no refund possible. They then ignore all further contact.
In my view this company is operating fraudulently.
DO NOT BUY FROM FROM THIS SITE
Wish I’d of read the reviews first because I wouldn’t have purchased from this company, they don’t deserve any stars but you have to click on one or you can’t write a review.
Like some people on here I thought I was ordering a hard back book, as they ask for shipping address.
Contacted them a few times got the same reply, then I actually received a different email saying they can’t do anything to change my order. So I had to re-buy from Amazon.
Do not buy from this company, poor customer service no help at all.
Missold a hardback and sent an e-book
Missold a hardback and sent an e-book. Shameful customer service, disguised as 'support', so I got on to my credit card company and raised a dispute. I had confirmation today that Mapleaf did not receive the payment. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
Ordered a hardcopy book.
Ordered a hardcopy book.. waited & waited.. checked my confirmation email & they said I ordered a ebook.. which I did not. After emailing them they said I ordered a digital copy. Should have checked the reviews first as it seems they say this to all their customers! Fighting a refund now but seems to be a AI response!! Do not use this website!!!!
Wish I had seen the reviews before…
Wish I had seen the reviews before placing an order.
Website stated Hardcover, free delivery.
Had no email confirmation but took payment straight away so contacted over a week later asking for tracking information.
Emailed a further two times with no reply and checked reviews on here. Realised it is misleading as they want to send you a download instead despite what is in the description.
Contacted bank and they dealt with it straight away, refunding the amount.
Finally had an email from mapleshelf stating they have cancelled the order due to payment method 😂...
