Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 42 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many consumers pointed out that the platform heavily advertised physical hardcover books, but they only received unexpected digital downloads instead of the actual items they ordered. Reviewers frequently explained that customer service was entirely unresponsive and adamantly refused to provide proper financial compensation when formal complaints were raised. Some reviewers were ultimately happy with securing a refund through their bank or after showing great persistence with their requests. A few other people also felt that contacting their credit card company successfully resolved the ongoing payment dispute right away.

Avoid zoloreads/mapleleaf....it's a scam!

This company which also trades online as mapleleaf is a complete scam. I would give it no stars if I could. They advertise that they are selling hardback and paperback books online but don't be fooled! You will never receive an actual book....only a download in pdf format that is not compatible with any reading app online. Customer service is laughable....very condescending message explaining that you never ordered a book only an ebook, making out that it's your error...no way will you get a refund. Avoid avoid avoid.

The same as everyone else

The same as everyone else. Paid for a hardcover book which was apparently on half price sale. No order confirmation came through but the money left my account. Contacted them and had no reply. A clear scam.

Scam. Do not buy from Fanytolo.

I ordered a hardcopy of a book from Fanytolo which never arrived. They have never sent me an email with the confirmation order and when I tried to contact them, they never came back to me. A total scam!

Nothing sent

Ordered a hard copy of The Names, did not receive it or any communication. When I emailed the company they said it was an ebook. A) it wasn’t - I ordered for a friend’s birthday B) they have never sent me anything! I asked for a refund but the company did not respond. Absolutely terrible- avoid!

Why has this not been shut down?

I really don't understand why this company is allowed to exist. It's obviously a scam. Had the same response as you all but had a screenshot of it saying hardcover not the ebook that was sent. I also said would take it further which I would have done but got a refund. But I should not have had to go through this. So much for trying to support small book suppliers! Why has this not been shut down by now?

Scam

Scam. Ordered a hard back book. They said I'd ordered an ebook (I hadn't) They didn't send an ebook or a hardcopy and refused to refund me. I got a refund through my First Direct credit card. First Direct are taking this up with Zoloreads

Scam! Avoid this ‘company’.

Ordered a paperback and paid the full amount. They emailed me a poor quality digital .pdf of the book and said they were out of paperbacks: I insisted on a refund and they day after I ordered the book, they replied…they refused to refund the amount I paid, which I didn’t think was legal.

False advertising

Same as others - false advertising, says you are buying a hardcover and it’s just a digital copy. Initially refused a refund but when I threatened further action they agreed to.

Total scam

Same as others on here, clicked for the hardcover and then got sent a digital download. When I questioned it they said I’d purchased the download. They refused to refund me. Absolutely rubbish. Don’t go near it. I’m annoyed I didn’t check on here first to check them

Zoloreads 100% scammers

Zoloreads 100% scammers - true!

Agree with all the other 1* or zero star reviews about, Zoloreads - complete scam - although they have a UK registered address in Leeds - my credit card company show that the scammer owner/Director of this rogue trader lives in Poland and is milking the money for nothing from there.
Like everyone else, I ordered a "hard copy" of the book, was asked my address for posting, said it would arrive in a few days. Why would they need a postal address for an e-book?

Shall be reporting to Trading Standards asap, plus BBC Watchdog etc - not a life-changing amount of money to lose, but this dishonest company should not be permitted to steal cash from everyone simply trying to make a purchase of a book!

A total scam

A total scam. They let you choose a hardcover, then send a digital copy. When asked to either refund or send a hard copy. They gaslight and say you ordered a digital copy. Never again, and I will ask my bookclub to avoid them too

SCAM-

Same experience as all the others- trick you into buying a physical book and then gaslight you into saying that you bought a digital one. Support has stopped replying to me, so wasted £7.50!

Scam

Scam. Let's you select Hardcover but sends digital download. When I asked for a refund they said they only supply ebooks and that I couldn't have selected Hardcover. I sent a screenshot. It's still happening now.
