Cancelled twice, acknowledged, still headed to County Court
Two Ride Ready Service bookings at Evans Cycles London Bridge were cancelled with no explanation, the first on 20/07/2026 and the second on 05/08/2026. That left me without a working e-bike and buying Lime passes (about £37 each, three times) to get to work.
I phoned the branch to find out why. A member of staff told me they have no mechanic. They said they had already told head office they needed to stop taking bookings, but head office had not actioned it, so the store was still booking customers in for work it could not do. That is a known problem, flagged internally and ignored, with customers taking the hit.
I raised a complaint via Resolver. What followed was repeated requests for information I had already supplied, slow replies, and an offer of a £30 e-voucher. That was never going to cover the cost or the time spent chasing.
To be fair, Evans West End did take the bike in and got it back to me with no charge, and they offered a free one-year service plan. But it took roughly two months, first waiting on a part from Trek, then on a diagnostic tool. On 16/09/2026, they told me the bike was ready, and when I arrived to collect it I was told it wasn’t. When I did get it back, it came with three separate faults: the chain slips between gears, the Hyena app shows a “parts not integrated with e-bike cloud” error, and the assist cuts out at around 12mph (it's supposed to assist up to 15mph). Good that they got the bike back to me, less good that it came back broken. This is a separate matter from the London Bridge cancellations.
I sent a Letter Before Claim by Special Delivery on 15/10/2026. Evans replied asking for purchase details yet again, even though the pack already contained everything. On 22/10/2026, they offered £119.87, the cost of the Lime Bike fees I paid. By paying that, they accepted that failures happened. I took it as part payment only. They refused to pay the rest.
This is not just an after-sales problem. When I bought the bike in December 2025, I was told it was ready for collection. I phoned the branch to confirm and was told it had never arrived, and that I would have to file a claim and wait while Evans investigated internally. Their delivery to their own branch was nothing to do with me, and I told them so. They only backed down after serious pushback, and it was over a week before I was able to re-order.
So the position is this. Evans knows it got this wrong, has paid part of what it owes, and will not pay the rest. A company this size could have fixed it with one decent call from someone with authority. Nobody offered one.
I will now file a County Court claim for the remaining balance. I’d have preferred to spend that effort on riding the bike.
What can I say myself Tiffany Branton…
What can I say myself Tiffany Branton brought a pinnacle ladies bike upon checking bike...i found the basket bolts...loose hence the securing bracket loose n fell off because of sum inferior wud be cycle mechanic who didn't check the bike to ensure the bike was satisfactory n safe to ride thanks alot Evans cycle I now now I will never buy a bike from your inferior shop ever again
Can’t get my fingers in a pair of…
Can’t get my fingers in a pair of winter cycling gloves as they are stitched through on the little finger! Tried to follow returns advice which goes round in a circle and does not lead to a link to customer service! Please contact customer service is the advice!! No contact details. Very poor. Most online businesses now offer free return or at least a return label but nothing. I hope I can get through on a number that was given by other disgruntled customers and they can restore my faith in Evans.
Good Online Service
Good sale price. Easy ordering and payment. Good communication. Received goods in perfect condition on earlier date than expected.
Product was of low quality
Product was of low quality. Came up small in size. Had to pay for return shipping.
Not very customer friendly these days. Would not buy from Evans again.☹️

Very robust bike and good value for money. Fitted mudguards and in built lights are good. However the lack of a chain guard, removable control unit, handle for carrying the battery and lack of inbuilt lock e.g. solid bar through both wheels and what seems to be low gearing are areas for improvement. The instruction booklets are written in very small font and are hard to read and there is an excess of safety information compared to operational data. Delivery was good.
Cancelled my order the day I paid for…
Cancelled my order the day I paid for it , as couldn’t change the size of the bike after finding out the size I needed. Although this is my fault it’s been 5 days and I’ve still had no info regarding my refund. It was still sent to the courier although it was cancelled and the refund requested with in an hour of purchase
Evans…DISCRIMINATION AGAINST WOMEN CYCLISTS WITH UNFAIR OFFERS
Here is my second review of Evans cycles. A different complaint.
I went to their website tp buy a Rapha Rain jacket which was advertised for sale at £114, (20% off). During the course of my purchase, the price shot up to £139. I contacted Evans to say this didnt seem right or fair and was told if I couldnt supply a screenshot of the original £114 then they could not offer it for that price.
Interestingly, the mens version of the same jacket was available at the reduced price.I made a complaint and got nowhere. Unfair marketing, misleading promotion and more than that, DISCRIMINATION AGAINST FEMALE CYCLISTS for the mens jacket to be reduced but not the womens as I tried to buy it.
Three items ordered and all arrived…
Three items ordered and all arrived safely. Not the quickest delivery but all fine. Ordering was simple and straightforward and the sale prices were good.
Perfect online bike purchase.
Perfect online service. Bought a Trek bike from Evans online, bike was sent quickly and arrived 2 days later with a really great delivery company (Marks Electrical) who gave me a delivery time and arrived exactly on the dot!
Well packaged, well built bike.
5/5, would buy again!
An awkward situation recovered
Your courier broke the delivery box in transit but you agreed I could have the undamaged product anyway - with the delivery charge knocked off
Got bike in the end
Bike was delivered but not at stated time. Found the customer care to be lacking. They nearly cancelled the order
I ordered a bike with this company and…
I ordered a bike with this company and never recieved it they apparently left it out side my property on a main road after receiving a email saying it won’t be left if it hasn’t been signed for but they signed for it themselves with a WRONG signature and refused to do anything about it AVOID THIS COMPANY
Using evri delivery service
Using evri delivery service. Parcel just thrown over my fence into the middle of the drive for everyone to see. Luckily not stolen. Please change your courier
They are not able to ship their own products
I have tried to order a kid bike through their website but I have never actually received it as the courier they use (Evri) sends back to the sender big parcels. I tried to get in touch with the customer service but they would not care at all, they just say to place another order. Eventually got the refunded in full but its absolutely ridiculous that they are not able to ship what they sell.
For a large chain
For a large chain, you offer the service of a small independent cycle shop and that is excellent. Good range of products at fair prices and quick postage
Appalling delivery service using Evri
Appalling delivery service using Evri.
I paid for speedy delivery and it took twice the time.
No offer of a refund of the postage premium I’d paid.
Made worse by the fact the parcel was eventually successfully delivered ans unpacked, to then find Evans Cycles had cancelled the order so the courier returned demanding the item was repacked and returned or they would “lose their job at Evri”.
Honestly, one of the worst customer service failures I've ever experienced to be honest.
I’m now still awaiting my new helmet 8 days on from the original planned date and after I’ve been on the cycling trip I’d ordered the helmet for!!
Will be interested if this story actually prompts any response from Evans!?
It would be 0 if it were an option
It would be 0 if it were an option . The item was dispatched and was out for delivery pretty quickly the problem arises when I see who couldn’t deliver it (evri) undoubtably the worst of all the carriers. Ok no problem they couldn’t find one of the largest companies on the industrial estate, the item is now being returned to sender! Evri advise to contact Evans cycles so I go to website and start to search the site for telephone/email/chat option after 20 mins I gave up and asked Gemini got a phone number (didn’t work) and an email so I mailed them for the refund and wait to hear back from them however will not hold my breath. Advice try one of the shops if there are any, you might have a better chance.
