Extremely disappointing experience with Allianz Assistance
I am extremely disappointed with the way Allianz Assistance handled our breakdown in Germany.
During severe winter weather, my wife, our 21-month-old daughter, our dog and I were left without effective assistance during the night. Allianz informed us that a taxi and hotel would be arranged, but the promised transport never arrived. After hours of uncertainty and unsuccessful attempts to obtain effective help, the situation became serious enough that German police had to intervene and assist us.
We eventually had to deal with the consequences ourselves. Allianz later acknowledged the problems with the assistance and offered reimbursement of €124.88 for the hotel plus €200 goodwill compensation.
Unfortunately, even after I accepted their proposal and provided my bank details, the promised hotel reimbursement/payment has still not been received. My insurance broker has now had to intervene directly with Allianz and demand clarification regarding the outstanding payment.
For an assistance insurance product, reliability matters most when a family is stranded and actually needs help. In our case, the service failed precisely when we needed it most.
After this experience, I have lost confidence in Allianz Assistance and am now considering moving my insurance to another company.
