I had purchased 2 two seater sofas from an alternative supplier to be informed delivery would be delayed by several weeks. By chance I saw the same furniture on sale 1/2 the price and delivery the next day. It was definitely a win win deal. Delivery was brilliant and the sofas perfect. ABSOLUTE INCOMPETENCE AT EVERY LEVEL
This review is regarding the response from Rackhams to my previous review.
Rackhams have not tried to find an alternative solution as stated in there response, in fact quite the opposite. I had the below response quoted word for word
“Unfortunately, we are unable to arrange a collection for this particular return.
Having reviewed the order However, we completely understand that the customer is not happy with it, hence why we have provided a prepaid return label.
The customer can then take the packaged item to a suitable Evri ParcelShop at a time that is convenient for them."
Any other company out there having realised they had sent the customer the wrong piece of furniture would apologise, arrange a return that’s convenient for the buyer and refund in full…..but not Rackhams. They expect their customers to be further inconvenienced and out of pocket by returning furniture to a Evri Parcel shop. When I repeated that I was unable to take the large box to a collection shop the response was
“I refer you to my previous email”
So basically referring me back to the fact they are refusing to collect it.
They then asked me if I would like to keep the wrong piece of furniture sent as it is again quoting directly
“virtually identical”
For the record the heavy duty clothes rail with drawers I purchased cost £80.99, the item sent cost £38 (cheaper elsewhere btw). If I kept the incorrect order costing £38, I could have …..wait for it…….a “goodwill gesture” of £40 ….in credit!!
So having spent £80.99 they want me to keep an item that costs £38 with a goodwill gesture of £40 credit.
Now I’m no mathematician but even I can do the maths here! 80.99 for a £38 item with a goodwill gesture of a £40 credit……anyone…… anyone????? yes it’s quite unbelievable isn’t it?
So if this is the kind of company you want to do business with, by all means go ahead! But you have been warned..

At Rackhams, our Rackhams Guarantee means that when there is an issue with an order fulfilled by one of our approved suppliers, we step in to ensure the matter is resolved.
Initially, a prepaid return label was provided. However, we appreciate that this was not a practical solution given the size of the item and your proximity to a suitable drop-off point.
As promised, we have since arranged for the item to be collected from you and, importantly, have issued your full refund in advance of the collection, so you do not need to wait for the item to be returned before receiving your money back.
We also acknowledge that some of the wording used during our earlier correspondence could have been more helpful. We appreciate your feedback and will use it to improve how situations such as this are handled and communicated in future.
We apologise again for the inconvenience caused and hope that the collection and full refund bring the matter to a satisfactory conclusion.
