Severe allergic reaction

I got a severe allergic reaction from some product these guys used on me (Moorgate branch). I've had my hair cut by barbers all over the world and never had a problem before. God knows what these guys are using. Now I'm covered in a rash and hives and going to the doctor about it. So I paid £60+ to have the rest of my week ruined. Thanks a lot

Appalling lack of reception

Appalling lack of reception. Calls cutting in and out. This happens all the time - in central London - not in remote areas! They also constantly put the bill up unilaterally.

Review of Motel One

Rude staff, substandard amenities

Stayed at Motel One Manchester Piccadilly on 30 August 2025

Negatives include:

An extremely rude member of staff on the bar, called "Shareal". The front desk staff were tired of receiving customer complaints about him. This individual should not be in a customer-facing role and (with all respect) possibly has some behavioural difficulties that I hope he gets help for.

beOne members get a free bottle of water, but it is not chilled, and there is no fridge in the room.

The King or Double bed is actually two beds pushed together, so you fall down the gap in the middle.

No milk for the tea and coffee in the room.

Nowhere to put used tea bags.

Cheap plastic cups in the room instead of china cups like literally every other hotel (they can't be bothered to do the washing up, it seems).

Weak water flow from shower.

No room service, or ability to order food.

Overall, it is like paying a lot more than a Travelodge or similar, but having an objectively much worse experience.

Breakdowns, Stinking Toilets, People vomiting

Breakdowns - Poor Communication - Toilet Smells - People being sick

I was on the 9.30 coach from London to Manchester. It broke down near Coventry. There was no communication from the driver, no explanation, no apology. Just eventually told to get off the bus. We all had to wait on the side of the motorway for over an hour while a replacement coach turned up. There was no hard shoulder so it was dangerous for us to be on the verge for so long, and we were told to stand away from the coach in case another vehicle hit it.

There was no apology or explanation from the driver of the replacement coach either. In total, I was over 2 hours late getting to Manchester. Shouldn't they check the engine over before they send their coaches off on a 5 hour trip? Of course, no refund was offered.

On the return journey, you could smell the chemical toilet the whole way up the coach. A woman a few rows in front suffered from travel sickness (why book a coach journey?) and was repeatedly and loudly sick.

Of course it is completely packed and you are trapped with these people like livestock on a truck to the slaughterhouse.

All in all, a lovely experience

Review of AXA Health

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Terrible experience, over and over

Every job I've had in the last 15 years came with private health cover. My latest role is the first to use AXA, and it has been absolutely appalling.
They do everything possible to avoid providing cover for treatment.
- Already had a referral to a consultant from a private GP? Not good enough, you must wait 8 weeks to see your NHS GP in person and get another referral before they will authorise.
- Already had a referral for in-person physio from their own online physio? Not good enough, again wait for an appointment from your NHS GP and get yet another referral.
- Want to see a podiatrist but you saw one once 10 years ago on an unrelated matter? AXA won't cover it, enjoy paying £250 of your own money on an appointment.
- Want to call up and discuss any of this? Block out 45 minutes to an hour of your day - that's how long you will be kept on hold, either before getting through, or during the call itself (as the call handler has to ask their manager about anything remotely out of their ordinary process).
These guys are the bottom of the barrel. In my opinion they make it as difficult as possible, in the hope that people will give up and pay themselves, or wait for NHS treatment.
I will be recommending that my company of 300 people find another insurer when the time comes for renewal.

Hi, Richard
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We are very sorry to hear of the issues you’ve experienced during your recent claim. We understand your frustration regarding the cover of your treatment.
Our policies are designed to offer a range of benefits but are not designed to replace the services offered by the NHS. There are some conditions and treatments that the NHS is best at handling and some conditions which are excluded from our cover.
If you would like us to look into anything further for you, please feel free to contact us directly on: www.axahealth.co.uk/makeacomplaint

Great engineer visit

The ethernet cable had broken off in the box on the wall. Apparently this is a common issue so I don't think that is very good, nor that it took one week for an engineer to come out and fix.

However the 5 star review is for the engineer Ishmael Dixson, who couldn't have been more helpful and professional, and who got on with the job brilliantly even though I had to take a work phone call and couldn't speak to him as much as I wanted. It was all fixed in no time at all and he explained the issue to me so that I could understand what he had done.

Then when I called up for compensation for the outage I was pleased to find that it had already been applied and my bill was basically free for the month. My thanks to Nikola B on the phone who explained this and was very helpful

Hey there! Thank you so much for the detailed review. It means a lot to hear that our hard work is appreciated. Ishmael is amazing, always on top of things and makes sure that the job is 100% done. Nikola is top notch also, we're blessed to have both of them with us!

We always want our customers to know that we're there for them, and we won't stop trying until everything is fully working and is smooth as butter again!

Thank you once again so much!

Lids come off the pots - are the pills still ok?

I ordered a lot of vitamins. The lids were halfway off the pots when they arrived. So I don't know if they are fresh or not, or have been going off. The problem is that Bulk's new packaging is no good. They clearly know about this issue because there are bits of tape on the pot lids, to try to keep the lids on. I will think twice about buying again.
