Never thought I’d be saying Hermes were better

This is the second time out of 4 deliveries in a 2 month time span that DPD have delivered my parcel to the wrong address. That’s 50% of my parcels delivered incorrectly. What is the issue here? It seems DPD just lob my parcel over the gate of any old house, both places were different, so not sure what they’re doing as not looking at the street names or sat nav. What makes it worse is that when you call the office, they aren’t interested and nobody takes responsibility. DPD have their own internal guidelines where the driver is supposed to go back same day and pick it back up and redeliver but this never happens. On the first delivery error, the depot couldn’t even get in touch with the driver, never called me back, and I never heard anything again until a week later the person they’d delivered it to handed it back to a random DPD driver. Please tell me, how you’re not able to get in touch with someone who works for you and who drops his van off with you before going home? Why have internal guidelines and tell me ‘you have to sort this out same day’ if you have no intention of doing it and no consequences if you don’t do it?

Not bad experience

Wanted to leave a review after buying something for the first time and checking the reviews on here to see what was what. I was dreading what my experience might be and was pleasantly surprised. My item was despatched late but to be expected during COVID. All items were as described and packaged well, with tags. Tbh, I had a better experience than with other companies where items come without tags and already worn. I imagine if I had any issues I might be more unhappy as there wasn’t any way to get in touch with them apart from sending a message which took them days to respond. But I had a good experience.

Given incorrect advice by someone not qualified to give this advice

I would like everyone who is thinking of using this website to speak to a medical professional think about what calibre of professional would be employed on this website... probably not the best.
In my case, the medical specialist I spoke to gave me wholly incorrect advice and passed himself off as being a medical specialist when he had no specialism at all and was just a general practitioner. This is actually very dangerous and I’ve reported it to the website.

Hello Natalie,

Thank you for the feedback you have provided. We have already responded to you through our customer care center in regard to your concerns. As previously mentioned, your question was dual-categorized, meaning that it was posted in Cardiology and Medical. This is why the general practitioner was able to respond. This is done to help customers get faster responses. Experts only respond to a question if they feel qualified to answer. For example, Dr. Ruff felt that your question was more of a pharmacology question than a cardiology question. You did the right thing by going back to your question page and questioning his response. Since the Experts cannot see you in person and do not know your whole history, they are basically providing general information about your question.

The information that the Experts are providing to customers is not intended as a substitute for professional advice. The Experts are not in a position to know everything about a customer's question, therefore they are not in a position to be held liable for the general information that they provide.

Customers should not apply the Expert's response to propose specific action or address specific circumstances. Answers are provided to give you a sense of general principles that might affect the situation you describe. Application of these general principles to particular circumstances must be done by a professional who has spoken with you in person, learned all relevant information, and explored various options. Before acting on the general principles provided by an Expert on JustAnswer, you should hire a locally licensed professional to which your question pertains.

Review of DHL Express UK

Ignored redelivery request

I was impressed with DHL’s service as I purchased something from the US and paid extra for express delivery and it arrived within 2 days. I was also impressed they had the sophistication to enable me to rearrange a delivery day, which I did to the 27th (Monday).
Initially I got an email on the 24th saying the parcel was out for delivery, but nothing arrived. I tried to call DHL but it’s an 0854 number and costs 50p per minute - outrageous! Then a text today saying the parcel was out for delivery. I again went into the website and requested delivery on the 27th, but added delivery instruction should it arrive today. It did and the instruction was followed, so a star off for ignoring my re delivery request and a star off for charging me to speak to you about my parcel.

Surprisingly pleased!

I wanted to share a review as I’ve had a really good experience and the general reviews are terrible so this may help you make a decision. I was put off for ages ordering something because of the reviews and was worried it might be a scam so paid with PayPal. What I ordered isn’t available to buy in the UK so I was concerned about customs fees.
I ordered the item on Monday evening, paid for expedited delivery by DHL and I was just notified that it cleared customs and DHL UK now has the item which will be delivered on Thursday.
Unless the items are delivered open or are missing, I think the service is excellent and I’m very pleased.
I think most of the negative reviews are from people not realising it’s a US based website and therefore being shocked at the amount of time shipping takes.
I would really recommend paying for delivery with DHL as opposed to Hermes who are terrible anyway. I think I paid just under £10 for shipping which I think is a fantastic price to pay to ship something across the world in 2 days that I can’t even get in the UK!

Terrible customer service, rude staff

Argos are ok as a discount retailer. Where Argos really fall down is on more expensive items if you have any kind of issue with that item. They don't have a complaints process, they don't have any proper customer service support, their staff aren't trained in customer service and they really don't care about going the extra mile and keeping you as a customer. I will never shop with them again for items worth more than £20. Staff are rude and customer service is shocking.

Review of Maisons du Monde UK

Hit and miss but they do have gorgeous items

I have made an order with this company for various pieces of furniture and furnishings and there have been numerous problems. I had never heard of them before making these purchases but checked them out on here and they seemed to have an ok score and reviews. I guess it's always difficult when you're buying furniture online to know how it's going to arrive, so you do have to take a punt sometimes and see how it goes. I decided to buy everything on my credit card so I was protected in case something did go wrong.

I purchased two large pieces of furniture, three cushion covers and two cushions. The items are dispatched from France, by various French delivery companies but then will be delivered by DPD and TNT in the UK. The large items by TNT and the small by DPD. The large items were dispatched separately and arrived within a day of each other. Unfortunately, one of my furniture items arrived damaged (it was a lacquered white bedside table) with various chips and dents in the item. The other item arrived fine. Although it's easy to panic as the contact number for customer service isn't always available, when I did get through to someone they offered me 50% off my damaged item which I was happy with to avoid the hassle of having it delivered again.

The furnishings came the next week but there were three items missing! After speaking to customer service again a couple of days ago, they are being despatched to me again and should arrive this week, it's not a major issue as I'm renovating and I'm doing nothing but waiting for deliveries but it is a little frustrating. I have to say that the items that I have received are very good quality and well made (aside from the damage) and that this company have been quick to replace or amend any issues that I have raised.
They do have absolutely gorgeous pieces of Scandi inspired furniture and furnishings that I have not seen anywhere else, so in spite of my experience I will be back for more. My advice would be, just record everything and buy on your credit card.

Review of Quidco

Quidco is alright

Quidco is alright, but that's usually when things run smoothly and you don't need to query anything with them. 9/10 cash back takes a lot longer to arrive than they say it does, but that doesn't matter to me really, as it's free money. It's the claims process and their website that is very frustrating. Quidco also have a special offer every 6 months or so, where if you spend over £30 with a selection of retailers then they will give you £10 cash back. I did this back in January (bearing in mind all of the reviews from people saying they never got the cash back), forgot about it, but they didn't give me the cashback when I'd checked. There is no way to raise this with them either, when I have tried to send them a message about it, it got deleted. Just don't trust them or buy something with them expecting to get the cash back as a lot of the time they do reneg.

Review of Ocado

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Overall a great experience

I've been shopping with ocado now for about a year and overall, I do love it. I get the choice of Waitrose without having to spend £60 minimum and they price match tesco on branded goods so I usually get a voucher after each shop. I've shopped with Sainsburys and Morrisons online and what's made me stick with Ocado is the fact they have available slots for delivery the next day, which for someone like me who realises that I've run out of food and need some for tomorrow, it's a god send.

There has been some bad service, but come on, nothing in this life is perfect.... when I first started using them, I had a few instances of delivery drivers turning up late, or items arriving in poor condition etc. But those instances are getting fewer and fewer. And all credit to ocado, every time I have asked for an item to be refunded, they have refunded me. Every time my food was late, they have given me a goodwill gesture.

The delivery drivers have all been lovely lovely people. A number of times they arrive and you can see they're rushing but that's because they're trying to stick to the schedule that ocado has given them. Recently I've been getting my shopping early because the driver is in the area, which I like. They'll always give you a call and see if you'd like it delivering a bit earlier.

They also give you 5p for each plastic bag you give them. So you can make money! :)

Switched for the £100 - should have stayed with Barclays!

I'm not surprised by the other one star/negative reviews on here. What I am surprised by is their continued reinforcement that they are 'number one for customer service'
Well, after 15 years with Barclays Bank, pretty much my entire adult life, I switched because the grass is always greener isn't it, and I fancied £100. The switch was easy peasy, but god damn, the day my account switched over I encountered the most ridiculously over the top security measures I've ever experienced - I had to choose a password for online banking plus 3 other secret passwords which they would randomly ask you for. For telephone banking I had to choose another three passwords, and they could ask me any of them. That is 7 different passwords, and if you think that you'll remember any of them when you need to speak to them a couple of months later you'll be dead wrong.
What a nightmare.

As others have said, the online and mobile banking interfaces are not user friendly. Especially if you've been a Barclays Bank customer and you're used to theirs which is fantastic. It does take a long time to get through on the phone, and then you have to go through the whole rigmarole of identifying yourself.

As part of the switching process you have to sign up for paperless banking to get your £100. I signed up for this, have my £100 and FD continue to send me paper statements.

I also had the experience of raising a complaint which I thought would show me their incredible customer service. I sent this through online, and didn't hear anything from them. Nobody rang me and I didn't get any response. I rang them and asked about it, they said someone rang me and there was no answer machine to leave a message which is a lie. They also said they wrote me a letter, which is also a lie. Let's just say I'll be switching again as soon as I can.

Terrible service.
