Always issues receiving a refund

The last few items I’ve bought from here and returned, I’ve had issues receiving my refund. It’s just been brought to my attention again as I purchased an item now, about a year later and I remember I swore I’d never purchase anything directly from them again. Both previous returns went past the 14 days and I had to chase them multiple times to get my refund. Both times they said they couldn’t find it in the warehouse, but I had tracking which shows it was there - it blows my mind how Zara for example can process my refund within a day of receiving it back in the warehouse and they must be receiving thousands of items back a day. In future I’ll only purchase through a concession.

I had had a previous bad experience…

I had had a previous bad experience here after purchasing some towels which were damaged and then the returns process was extremely laborious, so I wrote a negative review in response. The White Company contacted me via email and offered me a gift voucher as way of apology and I’m very grateful. I made a further purchase which I’m very happy with and would recommend them. Things go wrong sometimes but I appreciate it when a company reaches out and puts it right straight away.

Pricing not clear

I had a second lobe piercing done a few days ago and whilst my piercer was great and did a great job at the piercing, I have some issues about the transparency of pricing. I expected for the prices to be clearly explained to me upfront - and whilst I was told that the piercing would cost £30, it wasn’t clearly explained to me that the studs would be additional to this, or how much. I was then shown a tray of studs and I was asked “which ones do you like?” which seemed to imply that the studs were included in the price. I would have expected to see prices on the tray if they cost additional money. As it was I chose a pair of gold studs which later on found out cost £30 per stud which is an insane price. There must have been cheaper ones and I would have chosen the cheapest considering once my ears have healed I’ll be changing these out. It was only after I had completed the forms and given the total price that I queried how it was so high and I was told the studs cost £30. In hindsight I should have stopped the piercer and asked about this but it really isn’t my job to be clear about pricing and I felt like the entire experience was misleading and purposely confusing in order to make more money. Perhaps my piercer just forgot to tell me about the prices? I’m not sure, but for me transparency is the most important thing in buying something from a business and it breaks trust to feel you’ve been misled. As it is, I’m not even 100% sure if these studs are real gold, solid gold, what carat etc. And this is information I would like upfront and it wasn’t provided.

Edit - 01/07/26

I have had my piercings in for just over a week now and I’ve had to reduce my review to one star. One of the studs is a gold heart and when I sleep on it, is getting pushed inside my piercing hole - it is clearly too small. As it is I am waking up with my skin having grown over the heart as it’s been pushed so far inside, is constantly full of pus and won’t heal. The other side which is a star is absolutely fine. This piercing is not fit for purpose, it has been missold and in addition to the poor pricing practices I will need to take this further. I will be contacting head office with a formal complaint with a view to getting a full refund.

Very good experience

I wanted some brass accessories for the bathroom which were unlacquered… this is apparently a very hard thing to find… but whilst googling I found this website with some gorgeous brass items. When I went to purchase I saw that I could get it delivered to a drop point… absolute magic… usually design / trade stores don’t do that. I had a wide range of payment options, it was sent out the next day I think and today I opened it, unpacked it and it’s beautiful. So well packaged too. Overall I had a great experience, I couldn’t recommend this store enough, they deserve their 5 stars!

Damaged items then didn’t process my refund

I bought a number of thick expensive towels as I had a 15% off code and thought to make use of it. When the towels came, half of them had snags and pulls in the cotton, so I would need to return and exchange them. I went onto online chat and spoke to someone, explained the issue, and asked if she could either a) post me out replacements with the same discount or b) provide me with another code and I would then make the purchase myself. She said she needed evidence of the damage to investigate. I said, why do you need evidence, it doesn’t matter why I’m returning them I could return them for any reason. She insisted and refused to arrange the return without it. It took about 30 minutes for her to ‘look into it’ and by this point I got so fed up I said forget about the replacements I’ll return everything and buy elsewhere.

The return itself didn’t go smoothly either, I had to wait the entire 14 days and still no refund, so had to contact them to ask them to process it manually, and the advisor cut me off chat so I had to ring up again to check it had been done. Overall, I value speed, efficiency and ease of ordering, returning and getting replacements, my experience of these things at The White Company was negative. I won’t shop here again.

Review of Ikea

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Difficult frustrating experience

I bought two linen cushion covers. They were advertised as white. Well when they came they were cream and I bought them to match my white bedsheets so I tried to arrange a return. When I tried to return, my only options were

1) return to a store
or
2) arrange a truck collection for £25

The items cost £30 and came in an A3 envelope. No options to return via post.

I had to ring up to complain and I was told she had no idea why I didn’t have the option, that maybe the system thought the item was large, then was given incorrect information as to how to arrange a return. She told me to search ‘return parcel’ on ikea website and wouldn’t listen when I told her that was searching for products. After 5 minutes of her debating with me, her not being able to send me a label or a link to the return site and her insisting that I needed to search ‘return parcel’ on the Ikea website, I said why don’t I just google Ikea return parcel and she said NO that won’t work - it needs to be on the Ikea website(??). It did work and I managed to arrange my yodel return despite the incorrect information she gave me. It seems that she didnt understand how the internet works?

I’ve always said that shopping on ikea is super easy and the stuff is always super cheap but they make it very very difficult to arrange a return and it’s almost like they hope as it’s so cheap you just won’t bot her and will forget it. After being burned so many times I would prefer to pay a little extra and buy somewhere with a proven easy returns policy.

Couldn’t tell me the ingredients in a product

I am disappointed to see the list of negative reviews for this company. I also had a negative experience of their customer service team. I ordered a number of packets of spelt wraps, it would be safe to assume that these would be 100% spelt, but upon checking the ingredients it seems that there is some normal wheat in there too. I thought the best thing to do would be to email the customer service team and ask for a list of specific ingredients, confirmation if there is normal wheat inside and if so, how much? They took about a week to reply and then they have just sent me the list of ingredients which are in the packet, the ones I already have. Completely ignored my question and I have asked to escalate to a manager. Considering they charge a premium for their products you would expect premium customer service.

Review of Donnerberg

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Poor customer service, no longer honours warranty and flags negative reviews as defamatory

I spent a large amount of money on a shoulder massager from Donnerberg on 2023, on the basis that they offered a 7 year warranty. I had been buying cheap devices from an online marketplace but the motor always wore out within the year or the fabric wore through and I had to replace them. The Donnerberg device offered replacement covers and it seemed like the smarter choice to go with this where the components could be easily replaced for free. For the first year or so, I contacted them semi regularly for replacement components, mostly the plastic caps for the nodules that would snap quite quickly. My contact at the time was someone called Joanna and she would always respond to me quickly and send replacements quickly.
I haven’t had contact for over a year and now I have sent multiple emails to their UK email address for more replacement components and all have been ignored. I am unable to use my device without these components.

If a company offers a warranty then they cannot ignore customers who are trying to claim on it. I have threatened legal action and I will be taking it further. I cannot recommend Donnerberg on this basis.

Edit - I found another contact on their website for someone in a different department and asked them to help. A few days later I had a response from them about my warranty, they told me that the UK email address was no longer in service and they said this is on their website. (It doesn’t) They also told me they wouldn’t replace the covers and they are available for sale on their website. When I checked the ‘accessories’ section of their website it was empty. I’m not sure what is going on at Donnerberg but I expect when I bring something to a companies attention they acknowledge their error and apologise, not double down and gaslight me further. In addition to now paying for the covers I was told I also needed to pay customs charges when I never needed to before.

On balance, considering how difficult this has been just getting in touch with them, and how even though they said they would cover the customs charges on this occasion as a gesture of goodwill and send me some covers free of charge, going forward it’s going to cost me just as much as it would to buy a cheap shoulder massager from an online marketplace and replace every two years when the covers run through.

Edit - 21/04/26. Donnerberg flagged my review for defamatory content in order to get it removed. Trustpilot deemed it not defamatory and relisted it. The only reason I wrote this review is due to their inability to apologise and take accountability for their mistakes. For all components to be replaced free of charge and now, to be told no you need to buy them with no explanation. Customer service was extremely rude and dismissive and sent me all of my order correspondence in German. When I asked for it in English they said “we are a German company”… well if you ship internationally then you’re an international company. Now I am wondering if this is the reason for the lack of negative reviews, if Donnerberg are flagging them as defamatory. Never have I ever had my negative experience flagged as defamatory and this changes how Iview this company. Avoid, avoid avoid.

Professional items at half the price

The items I buy are usually very expensive, they were cheaper here and I was given an extra 20% off code. I thought it was a scam site but these reviews are so good. The items came with Royal Mail and were in perfect condition. I will be back.

Use Evri as delivery courier! How disappointing

I just purchased an expensive item and I had to come on here to say how disappointed I am that they use Evri as a delivery service! Surely for the price point they should be either using Royal Mail or DPD. Not received the item yet but it will sure put me off purchasing from them again.

Quick and easy, gorgeous perfume!

Fantastic experience. Some issues with the website and couldn’t actually open the perfume page only add it to basket but it didn’t really matter because I was always going to buy it. The warehouse and website are based in France (I think) and items shipped to the UK involve a small card fee (about 0.72p) which I wasn’t bothered about but they should tell you this at checkout.

Considering it was shipped from the EU, it was speedy, took only a few days and was delivered with Royal Mail in the UK and using tracked 48 so I knew where it was. Good price too. Would recommend.

Good Afternoon,

Thank you for your review.

We are aware of some issues with reminders and working on some improvements for this part of our service.

At the moment reminders are set based on the last time an order was dispatched and the system will set 4 reminders generally a week apart. The 1st reminder will be sent to you when you have about 2 weeks medication remaining, this is in line with our recommended timescale to re-order of 10 working days.

I have now deactivated the reminders from your account, you will be able to opt back in to these at any time via your account online.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Kind regards,
Chris

Great experience

The mousse I buy is expensive and out of stock on Amazon. I found it here for £10 cheaper than anywhere else, so purchased straight away. Saw the trustpilot disclaimer on their website and the fact they said they dispatch most orders same day. Next day I checked the reviews on here and panicked. They were all saying the site was a scam - so I emailed and asked for a cancellation. 10 minutes later I had a dispatch confirmation and the order arrived the next few days with Royal Mail. I wanted to share my experience which was great, irs definitely not a scam site but i guess I was lucky it was in stock. Next time I will be buying on a credit card just in case!

It was ok

I purchased some earrings, they were late and when they arrived they had been advertised in a misleading way on the website, looking like extremely large earrings when in fact they were tiny. I really wish websites would show earrings on the ear to give an impression of scale. The returns process was super easy though. It’s useful to remember Wolf and Badger are essentially a marketplace so if you have an issue with your order, they can’t really help and will just ask the retailer to get back to you.

Expensive but worth it

I bought a number of plants, they were well packaged but they had been watered to the extent that the bottom of the box was absolutely sodden. It was very soft when it arrived and had it been delayed for some reason the box would have fallen apart. The issue with this is that if there was a problem with the plants I couldn’t return because the box is useless. This would be solved by lining the box with some plastic (as much as I hate it) but there are plant based biodegradable plastic materials on the market now.

As it was, one of the plants was delivered in a sorry state with yellowing and browning leaves. I contacted Crocus and they gave me a suitable discount so I was happy overall and would definitely return.

The worst delivery company

Yodel are a terrible delivery company. I ordered a parcel with next day delivery, I had a notification that the parcel was delayed. Then an update saying the parcel was delayed because it had become damaged and that ‘not to worry they’ll repackage it and re deliver’. Well, when it came, to my surprise it was in pristine condition with absolutely no damage and in the original packaging with the original label sent on the 3rd. Why lie to your customers and not just be honest that you either picked it up late or that you’re incompetent.

Tracking hardly ever works. Parcels are hardly ever delivered during the window provided. Parcels are hardly ever delivered as per your instructions. Customer service is terrible.

I have had a very negative experience…

I have had a very negative experience with Whole Foods Online, more specifically with them honouring their ‘no quibble policy’ and ‘taste guarantee’. Gill from customer services in particular has been increasingly rude and aggressive, refusing to honour their guarantee, over a measly £8.88, and their emails have become incredibly unprofessional written in CAPITAL LETTERS, signifying that they feel I’m some kind of idiot leading to me raising a claim with PayPal and writing this review. I am wholeheartedly shocked at the behaviour of this company, taking my money and my items, which I’m now left out of pocket. The terms of the guarantee seemed quite generous, in reality, it seems they do whatever they can to twist your words to get out of honouring it.

It is with regret I post this especially because I purchased with this company over say, an extremely large corporation which would have been cheaper, because I wanted to support a small UK business. They have needlessly lost a customer over less than £10.

Edit - my complaint was sent to one of the owners who apologised, processed my refund immediately and offered me £30 off my next order. Although I declined this, the offer was appreciated, I don’t think I’ll shop here again.

Review of Blinds Direct

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Very poor wooden blinds

I am extremely disappointed in the wooden blinds I just purchased from Blinds Direct. The slats are so thin and flimsy, (they are about 2mm thick) they don’t even look like real wood, if I could go back I would have saved my money and bought fake wood or plastic. There is also a strong chemical smell to them.

You have to cut your own pelmet to size which is fine. But because the wood is so thin and cheap, my hacksaw split it and the end of the pelmet is ruined. Thankfully my curtains cover it, but I couldn’t recommend these wooden blinds. Save your money!

A few things blinds direct need to work on;

- Next Day Dispatch is not Next Day Delivery, it comes across that way on the website and is misleading.

- insurance doesn’t cover the cost of a replacement set of blinds, even though customer service told me it did. You need to pay for postage AND any difference in price that the blinds may be at the time of ordering. This is also misleading.

- I was told by customer services brackets could be top or side fitted in the window, this is again, misleading. For wooden blinds, you get box brackets which HAVE to be fitted at the ends of the blinds. It was due to this poor information that I had to reorder my blinds as they were too big.

- When I had these blinds delivered, the delivery man refused to hand me my blinds as he ‘had to take a picture of them in my open door’ as otherwise ‘he would be charged £20’. I was stood having a conversation with him face to face and he wouldn’t give me my blinds. I have never had a more preposterous conversation in my life. Just on that basis alone I would never order anything with Blinds Direct again. The delivery company is Dx. Avoid.

Edit - I paid extra for solid brass toggles. I have just taken a closer look at these; they are full of scratches and dents. They look to have some sort of coating which has chipped. When I rang customer services to check they said they were made of zinc and painted gold. I will be submitting a formal complaint.

Edit 2 - if I could give this company less than 1 star I would. Every single thing I raise as a way for them to do better and communicate to customers so there is less misunderstanding is argued with and I’m told how my experience is wrong and they are in the right. You end up just going round and round in circles. All they do is keep asking for ‘pictures’ as evidence of their misselling! You don’t need pictures, look at your own website! I will be raising a claim with PayPal at this point because items you buy should be as described and if they aren’t it’s against the law.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review about your order.

Following your feedback, I have listened to the phone call from before the order was placed to check the advice given to you.

You did ask about next day delivery, our team corrected you on this and confirmed we offer next day dispatch, this also matches what we advertise on the website. Regrettably, as you selected fast track this is a slightly slower service and orders are shipped within 3 working days when this option is added.

In regard to Surefit, the fee does cover you up to what you have paid - we only ask that you pay any additional cost if the new blind is more expensive and the standard shipping cost. If we did not ask for the difference to be paid we would be leaving ourself open to fraud - for example, customers could order the smallest size and pay the smallest amount and then order the right size at a huge discount - I hope you can agree that this would not be feasible.

I would like to confirm that our team did deduct a little more than they were meant to as a goodwill gesture when you placed the Surefit order.

Our team did thoroughly discuss how to measure for your blind, I can only apologise that it has not turned out how you liked on the first occasion.

I would like to apologise that you have been left unhappy with our courier company on this occasion - regrettably, due to a surge in fraudulent claims they have had to add further stages to the delivery process and gaining images is part of the new process. This is a common practice amongst the delivery service.

So that I can help with the toggles and pelmet issues raised, I have sent over an email - hopefully we can get this rectified for you.

Thanks, Cara B
