Stay at your peril
Stay at your peril - stayed here last Wednesday- got absolutely no sleep whatsoever due to zero air conditioning and having to keep windows open to be able to keep the room as cool as possible in the hot weather- below the room was a plant room - fans etc - no sleep whatsoever due- asked to show the front desk manager sarah hughes who quickly dismissed my complaint with zero concern. Emails and emails later - hotel offered a 50% reduction- absolutely joke.
I would challenge any of there staff to try and sleep in room 5204

The Belfry Hotel And Golf resort. Disappointing.
I visited the Belfry Hotel Resort on Saturday to celebrate a special occasion with my friend. We had paid good, hard-earned money for what was meant to be a relaxing pamper day, but unfortunately we were left feeling disappointed almost from the moment we arrived.
As soon as we checked in, we were told we needed to go straight for our massages because the therapists were only available first thing. I explained that this wasn’t ideal, as we had planned to use the Fire & Ice spa first, and having a massage before the heat experiences would reduce the benefit of the essential oils used during the treatment. Unfortunately, our concerns were dismissed, and there was no flexibility or willingness to accommodate us.
The massages themselves were also disappointing. My friend and I had booked the same treatment, yet when we compared our experiences afterwards, they were noticeably different. My massage felt rushed and lacked the quality I had expected from a luxury spa. We had arrived in plenty of time, so there was no reason for us to feel hurried through the experience.
To add to our disappointment, the salt room in the Fire & Ice spa was not working. This was one of the facilities we were looking forward to using, and it was frustrating that it was unavailable without any prior warning.
This day was meant to be a celebration, but instead it became a real let-down. For a venue with such a strong reputation and premium prices, I expected a much higher standard of customer service, organisation, and overall experience. Sadly, I left feeling that the day did not represent good value for money, and I doubt I will return.
Such a shame

Huge disappointment
Unfortunately what was supposed to be a romantic relaxing couple’s golf and spa weekend was a disappointment
Our room wasn’t ready on check in, delayed access to our room by an hour, only got offered a drink voucher
Spa was less than average with a pedicure lasting 25 mins instead of 45 as advertised, half of items listed in description not performed, quality of pedicure was very poor it came off the following day, it was also 10mins late with no apology. Had to ask and remind about the Prosecco which was paid for as part of the treatment as it was forgotten about
Paid £320 for a room with a terrace as we knew it had beautiful views over 1st tee. The room looked very tired, had no A/C, was warm and damp, the patio furniture was so shabby and covered in bird poop, mould and chipping paint in the bathroom, flat pillows and i can go on. Our room was located next to the Sam’s bar where we went to get dinner. Hardly managed to find a table, the place was rammed, queued for 20mins at the bar to order only to be told food will take over an hour due to tills being down and it being too busy. Our entire stay was shifted due to late check in and it was after 21:00 so we got drinks and opted for room service. Two items brought to us were wrong, what was supposed to be a side £6 was charged at £23 for a meal we didn’t ask for and didn’t eat, it was too late to argue or wait for another order as it was too late
Biggest disappointment was the noise up until 1am, with football on the Sam’s bar was packed with drunk and loud guests shouting right behind our room door, shocking that neither the bar or hotel staff tried to do anything about it. There were multiple other functions that night and it was a constant traffic of loud drunk people until early hours.
The spa is nothing special, the club loungers were loaded with dirty towels and dirty glasses which no one bothered to move once in 2hrs we’ve been at the pool, despite it being their pool policy that towels are removed so not to reserve any loungers.
It is a real shame because the hotel and its grounds and courses are stunning, but they don’t seem to care about the quality of service they provide.
We still managed to have a decent weekend but it was a huge disappointment in a hotel that poses itself 4* and having spent all in all £500+ for over 24hrs
Will not be returning and not recommending the place until major improvements are made

Nice grounds but customer service is shocking. Tried to organise a trip for my childs birthday and they were not interested in the slightest. Its. A shame as family have their annual work function there but due to the poor service I recieved they have cancelled.
They invest all this money into the grounds but not into customer service. Some of the rooms are very musty and damp. The activities for kids are great but please ensure you treat all lids as equals. This could be a great hotel but at the minute its not even reaching good!

A disappointing rip off!
My wife and I have been to The Belfry for a number of years now, our usual stay consisted of arriving for Sunday lunch in The Ryder Grill, checking in to our room from 15:00, overnight stay and breakfast on the Monday morning, alongside this is use of the spa, we always used the spa after checking out of our room on the Monday morning, often staying until late afternoon before leaving, it was the perfect end to our stay, this has now sadly been changed.
As per the email confirmation, your time in using the spa has been reduced by 50%, this is not a cheap package, and you’re now getting less for your money, this overnight stay and package cost me £363, I paid £100 to upgrade our room which was really nice but you’d still want good value for money (in using the spa for longer like before, which we didn’t even get to use!)
I made a complaint about this to reception but were told the spa is now run as a separate business to the hotel, it’s a shame and it’s put us off coming back, as I said, we always used the spa on the Monday (after checkout) up till the afternoon, now you can only use it from 11:00 Sunday morning until checkout on Monday at 11:00, we never used the spa on the Sunday as it would’ve been a lot of faff getting there at 11:00 (we don’t live nearby) to then have to get changed for lunch, to then get changed again after lunch when you’re full from a Sunday roast.
Based on this experience we won’t be returning nor do we recommend it to others.
Their standard reply (to all negative reviews) replied to me and said:
“Your valued custom is highly appreciated and we do hope to have the pleasure of continuing to welcome you in the future.”
My custom is clearly not valued enough, as the lady on reception went to discuss it with a supervisor and came back and said “sorry there’s nothing further we can do or offer.”
..and as I stated, we will most definitely not be going back ever again..

Very disappointing stay not a relaxing spa
Very disappointing stay and nowhere near the standard expected of a four-star spa hotel. From arrival, everything felt disorganised — long queues, confusing check-in processes, overcrowded spa facilities, and no available lockers or loungers. The spa was far too busy to be relaxing, with discarded towels and glasses left around throughout the day.
There were also multiple service issues, including our luggage being moved without telling us, being charged incorrectly at Rocco’s, delays with room arrangements, and long waits at the bar despite it not being busy. The bedrooms were also extremely warm and uncomfortable with a lot of commercial noise outside.
Breakfast was equally overcrowded and unpleasant.
The overall experience did not feel special at all, despite this being for a special occasion. What was most disappointing was that concerns raised both on-site and via email were largely dismissed rather than addressed.
Sadly, this is the first spa hotel we’ve stayed at that we wouldn’t return to. Really feel like we paid for a service we did not recieve

Amazing spa day !
I recently booked a spa day for my daughter’s 30th birthday . Now I have always disliked massages ( I know I’m weird ) but I did it for my daughter as she absolutely loves them . So I thought it would be lovely to spend the day with my daughter and relax . As soon as we arrived I loved the feel of the place . Love love loved the fire and ice experience was so relaxing, and the 2 course lunch was fab . Now my opinion on the dreaded massage . Well Rachel was amazing from start to finish . I even told her I disliked massages , no pressure ! But she put me at ease from the start . I also had a first time facial . Which I ended up not hating either . So thank you Rachel you converted me to not hating massages ! I did feel relaxed . The belfry spa is amazing and would definitely go back again.

Appalling customer Service
Having pre booked and now had to cancel so as my daughter was really poorly, hotel won’t do anything despite me offering to pay any difference, this was a birthday gift and they won’t do a thing - manager doesn’t care not prepared to do anything I would avoid pre booking anything

I visited the Belfry on the 18.2.26 for an overnight SPA stay with my mother to enjoy a relaxing birthday which was much needed. On arrival I was surprised at how lovely the hotel and surroundings was as it was not what I was expecting. The hotel was clean and surprisingly bustling which lifted my spirits. The rooms were fantastic, relaxing and very clean. The spa and fire and ice experience was out of this world with endless different treatments to experience. The beauty treatment was fabulous it completely relaxed me and the smell of the products were also contributory to my sense of relaxation. Our even Meal was out of this world. I just about managed a main meal as I over did it with the vast selection of starters. I also need to say a great thank you to Kerry Stratford Chandler one of the managers of the leisure centre who was the first person that we met on arrival in the leisure centre carpark as we were unsure where to go. She walked with us to the main reception and gave us information about navigating our overnight stay. We met her the next morning in the leisure centre for a bonus 2nd mini SPA morning where she was friendly and accommodating, she even gave me and my mother little muffins for my birthday x I enjoyed my stay so much that I have booked another overnight stay and will be bringing my children so they can enjoy the basketball court, mimi golf. Swimming pool with slide and football.

Pleasantly surprised, few tweaks needed!
I was really concerned having read reviews disappointed with the Sunday roast lunch/dinner which was included in our overnight stay but after contacting the team they made sure I was able to have an halal option and checked in with me on arrival to the restaurant.
Staff were all really friendly and we got an upgraded to a room with a terrace. Downside to the room was the positioning of the mirror (way too high) in the bathroom and size of the basin, as well as no vent.
But the bedroom itself was lovely, spacious, clean and quiet onlooking the golf course.
Breakfast was disappointing as the fry up did not have vegetarian sausage or vegan meat options if this was included it would have been enjoyed.
The other thing I was disappointed with was that I unable to book any spa treatments during my stay and wasn’t given a reason as to why not, I had stayed a Sun - Mon and had initially booked for this purpose so was a bit disheartened.
We had an afternoon tea voucher and the staff who looked after us were super sweet, warm and welcoming. The afternoon tea was lovely.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my stay but the few tweaks I mentioned would have made all the difference and I would have rated it higher.
Thank you all for taking such good care of us. Happy Easter.
As of 16th February 2026 the hotel has bedbugs
We booked a spa break at the belfry and were very looking forward to our stay. My boyfriend is a big golf fan and this place was definitely one of the most luxurious spas we have stayed in, or so we thought.
We stayed Sunday to Monday and we decided Monday morning to wake up early to use the new facilities and overlook the sun rise on the golf course, but we did not expect to wake up to bed bugs.
On Monday 16th February me and my boyfriend woke up to bed bugs in our bed. We were in absolute shock and disgust. We went down to reception immediately and informed them. Jenn was helping us and I appreciate she was doing what she could in the immediate aftermath, but this completely ruined our stay. We were given X2 drinks vouchers which was pointless as we were checking out that morning. We also did not use the spa in the morning as we left our swimming suits out and did not want to risk any contamination. We asked if they could provide us with any swimwear and they said no, which was really frustrating as we lost out on half our stay and actually the whole reason why we came to the belfry in the first place. At a 4 star hotel I would've thought they'd have swimwear to give us. We also had to go back to reception at least 3 times for an update, because they refused offer us a refund there and then. We did get use of the driving range complimentary, but we were frustrated given the evidence how they wouldn't offer us a refund there and then.
We were told they were getting externals to come in to thoroughly review and that they had our contact details, which they would contact us with a un update. We had to call up 7 days later as we heard absolutely nothing, which I think is disgusting. To not be kept informed from a 4 star hotel, we expected better. 9 days later we finally got an email confirming bed bugs were found in the hotel, and as a "gesture of good will" they would give us a full refund. We left items behind, had to quanartine our items, do excessive high temperature washes, and ultimately (continue to) live in fear in case we have brought any home. We lost out on the entire second half of our spa break, and this completely ruined our valentine's weekend. To top of off, we had to chase the Belfry AGAIN a week later as we still didn't have the refund. It took around 19 days in total for us to get a refund, which is absolutely disgusting, unprofessional, and shows lack of client care.
I have no idea if the hotel still has bed bugs, but for reference, we were foom 3507. We were offered a room 3 doors down on 3510 which we were too scared to even remain in, and really we should have been given a room at the other end of the hotel, and an upgraded vacant room given the catastrophy.
If you have an upcoming booking ring up to check if they still have bedbugs or not, and make sure you thoroughly inspect your room head to toe as our room had a mattress encasing, but it didn't stop the bedbugs.
As well, the spa is very busy, overcrowded for the amount of loungers available. There was an outside area, but it wasn't summer time, so everyone wanted to be inside. Usual selfish style of people leaving towels on loungers for hours whilst they're using the facilities, having treatments. Also, we had a 25 minute treatment with our package, and for both of us, from start to finish lasted about 17 minutes. Even our treatment was cut short, we didn't get the full experience. So if you have a treatment, check how long your treatment even lasts. The massauss was lovely, but we paid for a 25 minute treatment and got about half of the time, which was very disappointing. Our treatments were at 5:45pm so whether they were ready to leave for the day, but that's not the point.
Toby Inn food and service for Michelin Star price tags.
I used to go for Sunday lunch at the Belfry a few years ago and it was always a very special experience. Whilst it was priced around £30 a few years ago this was seen as expensive but you got so much value, excellent service and beautiful surroundings. Our last two trips have been a far cry from the good old days. The price has now soared to nearly £40 per person and the venue has become something more akin to a whacky warehouse with families packed into every inch of the rooms. On today’s visit we waited 20 minutes to be seated and a further 20 minutes to be served our drinks. The first drinks order was wrong and my partners Chardonnay turned into a pint of Stella? We then received a 250ml glass of Chardonnay, not the 125ml we’d order and got charged £17.50 for it! Now let’s put this into perspective, the bottle retails at £9.99 online and you’re being charged £17.50 for a large glass of bang average plonk. The place is being run by young kids that are probably on minimum wage that haven’t got a clue what they are doing. Come on the Belfry. Your making enough money to start paying for quality staff that know what service looks like. Your charging prices that would be more suited to a Michelin Star restaurant and your serving Toby Inn food. I’d sooner go down my local country pub for a much better meal at a fraction of the price.

Really poor experience
Really poor experience.
Only one restaurant of 4 allows dogs.
The main dog friendly restaurant forgot about our table, the brought out the wrong food, then forgot the main ingredient and then just asked if we wanted a take away instead after 1 hr and 15 mins! No chefs apology or anything. This was twice!
The hotel ran out of water bottles and we were asked to go to the reception to get more. At reception they didn't have any!
The general culture among the staff was cold and unwelcoming.
You can only watch the TV with your own netflix and disney subscriptions. The shuttle board you have to pay £25 per hour.
The only positive: the new kids pool was fun for little ones.
This isn't a place i would recommend.
Really poor and really disappointed.

Rubbish service
My sister and I came here as a little treat for ourselves as we we thought it was time to be waited on and get some posh treatments done, but we got the total opposite! In a nutshell, most of the staff couldn't be asked whenever we addressed anything not to mention rude! Upon arrival, there was dust around the tea tray, no curtains in the room, just a pathetic plastic sheet that supposed to be blinds and wouldn't even shut properly! Phone numbers were out of date in our room, when we addressed the many issues we had, the manager was evasive to say the least, got high rated and said you're welcome to leave if you're not happy even after I told him I'd travelled from London to Birmingham for this weekend break on public transport, where the hell did he expect me to go!! Rather than managing the situation which is what managers are supposed to do, he was fobbing us off and trying to get rid of us. Our whole experience was terrible, I expected a lot more from a high end place like the Belfrey, I've had better facilities and stay at the Premier Inn... No word of a lie! What a blasted waste of money... These toffee nosed people need to get a grip, stop exaggerating what they offer and stop ripping people off for rubbish service!

Recent conference visit
I attended a conference at The Belfry on the 9th and 10th of this month, staying both nights in the Brabazon rooms. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and found the hotel, its amenities and staff to be nothing short of first class. I look forward to future stays, whether they be for business or pleasure.

Belfry Hotel, shameful,
28th December we stayed at the Belfry Hotel,
dining was good the spa was good, we were in a room above where all the bins were being emptied, This room should not be used, it was above where all the bins are emptyied,i think i managed 2 hrs sleep, loads of talking all night, shouting, and crashing of bins, and the din of some kind of machinery, for a 4 star hotel, disgusting,
i did comparing the next morning, and i was offered a discount if i wanted to return, as per normal i received a feed back form, stating the above, to date no reply, Shameful service, i strongly recommend the manager tries a night in that room,

We had a lovely time at the Belfry Hotel & Resort. The staff were overall good and made us feel welcome throughout our stay.
The spa facilities were amazing and so relaxing. The spa team were courteous and attentive, taking the time to show us the facilities and make us feel at ease. A special thank you to Katie in the Spa for an incredible massage—it was soothing, unhurried, and left me feeling rejuvenated.
The cleaning staff were friendly and helpful, and overall, the service was excellent.
I would also like to extend a big thank you to the Night Manager, Sergejs, who went above and beyond when we discovered stains on our mattress and bedding. He immediately moved us to a family room and even carried our luggage—his professionalism and kindness were greatly appreciated.
While the kitchen and restaurant staff seemed slightly rushed and stressed, the overall dining experience was still enjoyable.
Thank you again for making our stay memorable.
