Considering 681 reviews, most reviewers were somewhat happy with their experience overall. Consumers frequently describe the platform as user-friendly and appreciate how simple it is to distribute independent music. Many artists also note that the distribution options are solid, earnings dashboards are clear, and tracking tools are extremely helpful. A few other people also felt that the strict review process for track names and artwork caused unnecessary and frustrating delays. Others additionally noted ongoing difficulties when trying to resolve specific distribution issues with the team.

Alright service with some serious downsides

Alright service with some serious downsides:
1. Customer service is substandard. Even on the professional plan, you’ll quickly get a first reply, but then it takes weeks for you request to actually get processed.
2. Batch song upload is not working properly. Painstaking to upload an album. Not possible to automatically add the same data to all tracks on an album.
3. Automatic payments are not possible. You have to apply manually each month…

**Serious concerns about TuneCore’s…

**Serious concerns about TuneCore’s review process and support**

I’ve used TuneCore professionally, but two recent experiences have seriously undermined my confidence in their review and support processes.

First, one of the songs in my publishing catalogue was removed from registration because TuneCore stated that it had been “generated using AI tools.” This is simply incorrect. The song was written and produced entirely by the artist, with no generative AI involved.

I contacted TuneCore asking for a manual review, an explanation of what caused the classification, and what evidence they would accept to establish human authorship. I am able to provide project files, stems, MIDI, earlier versions and other material documenting the creation of the song.

Despite having a Professional account, for which TuneCore advertises a 24-hour support response time, I have still not received a substantive answer and have had to open another ticket.

This is not the first questionable content decision I have experienced with them either. On the same release, TuneCore classified content as explicit when there was no explicit content in the track. When I challenged the decision and asked them to identify exactly what they considered explicit, I was not provided with any actual example or evidence. The response was essentially that their decision was correct and mine was not.

That is the fundamental problem.

Automated systems can make mistakes. AI detectors can produce false positives and content classifiers can incorrectly flag releases. What matters is whether a company has a serious human review and appeal process when that happens.

So far, my experience has been that TuneCore makes consequential decisions about artists’ work but provides very little transparency about how those decisions were reached, and when challenged, does not provide the evidence necessary to properly dispute them.

For a company handling artists’ distribution, publishing rights and royalties, “our system says so” is not an acceptable standard.

I will update this review if TuneCore properly investigates these cases and resolves them.

Can't get support

Hey Tunecore! Your Request form on the Contact-Us page doesn't work. Chat bot asks to log in, then redirects you to dashboard with no further steps. It doesn't recognize I'm already logged in in the first place. The bot itself is not helpful either. I'm paying for the plan and I can't get support. I'll keep leaving bad reviews anywhere I can until I get proper support

simply awful

all was well and good until my release got denied over some bogus "copyright dispute". I've resolved it with the content review team, but the release is still denied a month later. Tried writing to support again, literally got ignored. Tunecore offers a good amount of stores they ship to, but it just aint worth it, DO NOT CHOOSE THIS PLATFORM. It's too late for me since i've already released quite a few things with them, but if you're looking for a distributor for your first release, STAY AWAY!

Zero response, pro member

Sent a simple whitelisting request for 2 tracks so they could be used by a business partner for a major launch on Instagram, over two months ago. I only needed Tunecore to provide clearance confirmation.

Zero response. Many followups sent, still nothing. Have no idea how to reach them and the project is about to get cancelled as my partner requires written confirmation from distro to proceed. I am a Pro member (they promise 24hr response for pro members).

They never scanned 40+ of my songs

They never scanned 40+ of my songs (2 albums), kept sending me robot responses back through email, even though I'm on their highest tiered plan. I can literally see they didn't scan the music, all they did was opt it out and then shadow banned it on platforms, because the xml data was never properly sent, can't find my releases in a lot of the online stores because of this. TuneCore gave me the run around in email for 2 weeks and still never even scanned the songs, they say it's copyright, but if they literally would have scanned the music, it would have told them its fine. Lol.

Customer support is dreadful

Customer support is dreadful - it is 100% AI generated. Problems take a great deal of time to resolve or remain un resolved. There is zero possibility of escalation in these instances. I would strongly advise you to avoid this platform, particularly if you use samples from Loopcloud, Splice and so forth. Even if you have paid for these and they are available on a non-exclusive basis, Tunecore uses AI to check if the samples have been used elsewhere and where they have, can prohibit the distribution of your track.

Previously Approved 61 Releases All Rejected as “Suspected AI Generated Content”

TuneCore’s support and release review process has been extremely frustrating.

I previously had 61 releases approved and distributed by TuneCore for approximately a year. After my subscription expired, those releases were taken down. I later subscribed again specifically to re-release my existing catalog.

I submitted the exact same masters, metadata, ISRCs, and UPCs from the previously approved releases. Surprisingly, every single re-release was rejected as “Suspected AI Generated Content.”

What makes this especially concerning is that my new releases are not experiencing the same issue. The problem appears to be specifically affecting my previously distributed catalog.

Some of these recordings are also still recognized by YouTube Content ID under my artist name even after the DSP releases were removed.

I am not asking TuneCore to bypass its policies. I am asking for a proper manual investigation into why recordings that TuneCore previously approved are now being rejected when submitted with the exact same masters and identifiers.

A generic AI rejection is not an adequate explanation for this situation.

Very disappointing experience, especially after trusting TuneCore with my catalog in the first place.

Avoid using if you can

Avoid using if you can, Distrokid is definitely a better service (only using Tunecore as I can't upload the ISRCs I need to Distrokid as they were created on a different DK account and they block that for some reason, the only negative comment about DK).

The user interface is rubbish, in all black and gets stuck often if you don't follow the odd layout properly (which isn't easy).

Every release I've made has been rejected for the most obscure comments on track length, artwork layout/text or colour and the titles of several tracks had to change just to follow their guidelines.

Annoyingly all these issues were fine with Distrokid and didn't get flagged. Tunecore wouldn't release 2 tracks to Apple/iTunes due to the artwork, even though they were already on the Apple/iTunes from the previous distributer.

Customer support are difficult to communicate with and depending what tier you're on, take 2-3 days to reply to basic questions.

Wish I'd gone somewhere else than Tunecore, don't waste your time with them.

The absolute worst

The absolute worst. My email got hacked YEARS ago. The only way you can contact them is via the email linked to your account. I has been hacked. I have been unable to cancel this subscription that I no longer use for years. Taking payments of nearly £50 over and over again and I can't contact them about it.

FRUSTRATING and TERRIBLE

1 word: frustrating. They trick you into thinking it’s a good service with a nice looking website but the service is terrible. I’ve uploaded 6 singles and an album and EVERY SINGLE TIME there’s an issue. Always something they’re not happy with. Every time it’s within their guidelines and I tell them and theu just reply with “oh yes sorry. Now we’ll submit it”. Such a waste of time and energy also because they reply after 48 hours so to have a 2 minute conversation and clarification can take a week and it delays everything. And they change their rules and guidelines so each time you find out that something has to be changed that previously was allowed. I categorically dislike this service and WOULD NOT RECCOMEND. If I could go back and change I would. The website looks nice but it’s incredibly clunky, glitchy and complicated.
So to sum up:
AWFUL SERVICE
FRUSTRATING to use
A MESS of a website
USELESS AND SLOW CUSTOMER SUPPORT.

Do yourselves a favour and don’t use them. Please. I’ll pay you not to. I thoroughly hate Tunecore

No human customer service

No human customer service. AI agents continually respond to my emails even after asking for a human manual review. They keep rejecting my karaoke tracks saying they were "AI generated" even though they released my original versions. This is nonsense. Do not pay annually for this company. It's a waste of time and money.

Withdrawals frozen for over a year — but subscription fees still auto-charged

I've been a TuneCore artist for years, and my experience with account holds has been extremely frustrating.

In June 2025, TuneCore's Copyright Administration team informed me that withdrawal functions on my account (and two other accounts linked to the same payment wallet) were being blocked due to "multiple reports of copyright infringement" — no specific evidence was ever shared. The timing strongly suggests this was triggered by a withdrawal request rather than any genuine content review, since all three linked accounts were flagged simultaneously, including one with a completely clean history and no claims whatsoever.

Over a year later, I still cannot withdraw my balance. The platform simply displays a generic message that withdrawals are "temporarily on hold" due to an "unresolved store claim or additional suspicious activity" — with no timeline, no specifics, and no way to actually resolve it. I even removed and reconfigured my withdrawal payment method entirely to rule out a technical issue, and the hold persisted regardless.

What's most frustrating: while my withdrawal is frozen, TuneCore continues to auto-renew my subscription plan and charge the fee directly against that same "frozen" balance. So the funds are apparently accessible enough for TuneCore to collect from, just not accessible enough for me to withdraw.

I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, which was closed after TuneCore repeatedly disputed a resolution, with BBB stating they had no power to compel further action.

If you're considering TuneCore and have a healthy amount of royalties building up, be aware that getting access to those funds is not guaranteed, even when there's no real evidence of wrongdoing on your account.

They stole my money

Absolutely ridiculous platform. Customer service is even worse. They stole the money I made from my music and then claimed I had fraudulent activity and permanently closed my account. Don’t bother giving them your money or time. Go elsewhere. Extremely unprofessional.

Scammers

Avoid this at all costs; it’s absolutely impossible to stop your account renewal on your own: you have to contact customer service and hope they respond. Otherwise, a workaround might be to open an empty online bank account and then add it to your Tunecore billing settings, but it’s a long and tedious process that leads nowhere. They’re outright scammers: think carefully before committing to them.
