First Direct has always been a slick operation, be it as a pioneer of telephone banking or later app/online.
Sadly the recent changes to the app have introduced some extra clicks to the online
payments process which diminish that seamless process - UK/foreign payee? - so I have to withhold tbe fifth star.
But it's still pretty good by UK banking sector standards.

I've been a customer for a number of years really good service day & night Going abroad I've informed them where I was going and had no problems in other countries In this time of increases in fraud I get informed right away of any withdrawals and monies being paid in ,paying in cheques a photo required so easy Keep up the great service No complaints here first direct banking

Very easy to do almost everything I want to do with my bank and, if something is more complex, their phone service is good. A good piece of software making up the whole banking service.

I have been using First Direct for over 30 years, I've recommended them to numerous friends and family and they truly earned a 5 star rating.
Today I'm giving them a 1 star rating. Both my wife and I have First Direct credit cards, they look pretty much identical but they are categorised differently. Mine is a "Classic" card and these are being retired in favour of standard cards which look identical.
I received notification well in advance that my card would be replaced and the new card would arrive when I'm out of the country. With subsequent investigation I learned that the old card will be cancelled before I return.
To me the solution should be simple, cancel the old account ASAP, issue me a new card that will continue to work. I've been trying to get this done for some weeks now and haven't yet managed to get the old account cancelled. They issued me a new card but it's on the same classic card account so it will also stop working.
If you were to add up all the time I've spent on the phone over this it probably exceeds 3 hours of my time and 3 of theirs, the most recent call lasted 50 minutes.
For the team who planned this project, do you think keel hauling would be too severe ?

Very quick phone response, with a fast resolution
Customer service is brilliant, I could not fault them for information and service.
I made a mistake regarding a payment. Advisor was so helpful, sorted everything out quickly and efficiently. First Direct's customer service is always excellent.
My card was declined because the fraud team was monitoring my spend it was just a precaution and was soon sorted card unlocked and back to normal after a phone call the fraud team explained why to my satisfaction
Been with First Direct for a few years and no problems
Call centre staff are excellent , knowledgable and very helpful. The FD app is pretty basic which is ok for balances and payments but the insights portion fails to deliver any meaningful analysis.Could do with sister app for budgeting

I had some issues logging into my account for the first time, but the staff was incredibly helpful.
They responded quickly, were very understanding, and guided me step by step until everything was solved. Excellent customer service!
All I want is a savings account. Timed out when I try the help line. Promises that something will arrive in the post broken.
I remember when First Direct were the best available. Hang your heads.

It makes such a difference when you can hear that the person on the other end of the phone is trying to help you as best and as quickly as possible. Nothing was a problem and everything was explained clearly and then clear actions were taken to provide me with a new bank card I needed despite not having had one for years.
I’ve banked with First Direct for more than ten years and they’ve never let me down. Recently I had occasion to change my password because it had been compromised. The process was quick, efficient and very thorough and left me feeling secure once again.
Best bank to bank with since 2014, easy to use app & website. Great customer service when I’ve had to call. But PLEASE add future Transactions to the APP.

I would usually perform the transaction online but I didn't have the facility to hand at the time so I rang to arrange a payment and the transaction was dealt with effeciently.
