This joint is a TOTAL SCAM
This joint is a TOTAL SCAM , a RIPOFF ! Arrived in Vienna airport after a long transatlantic flight from LA. Upon my arrival to pickup the car, we rented online months before the trip, at the counter we presented the "supervisor" Steve, the printed voucher, US driver licese, International Driving Permit, issued 10 days prior the trip, by the AAA in our city. The supervusor, refused to acknowledge the validity of the International Driving Permit and with straight face told us that if we still want the vehicle, he will charge us 59 euros per day, insurance!. We addressed the issue witht Hertz rental counter if there us someting wrong with our international Driving Permit. He found no problem with either the DL or permit. At my request he went to the adjacent Wheego supervisor, with my documents in hand and told him the US docs are in order, and that he would rent a vehicle with those documents. With all that, wheego still refused to release the car without the 59EU extra charge, per day. STAY AWAY!
Wheego Malaga airport
Rented a car for a week I knew about being charged from your €900 deposit for things like : the car is dirty so I cleaned it: you’ve brought the car back early so that incurs a charge however this is not on the contract and I wasn’t asking for a refund
You pay separately from your deposit a charge of €163 so that if you bring the car back with a full tank they take the difference of petrol and included in your €163 a €35 surcharge so I brought the car back full to the brim. After making sure the car had no extra damage (which it had lots of dents and scratches when I picked it up) I had photographed these on my phone before leaving their site he agreed there was no damage so I knew my €900 was safe. However when he got back behind his desk he stated
that as I had clocked up 700km in a week this would incur a surcharge of €163 even though the rental was for unlimited mileage he absolutely refused to give me my money back so before I left I filled out an complaint called (Hoja de Reclamaciones), got a copy stamped by them. When you get home there’s also another procedure ECRCS. that you can use however I very much doubt if I’ll see my money again so if you’re going to use this company then be warned and read all the reviews it seems it’s a shady business
Criminal behavior
This company is highly unethical. We took detailed photos and video of the car inside and outside during pick up at Malaga airport. The day before returning the car we washed the car and took additional photos and videos of the car. No new scratches. Car was parked overnight at our fenced-in private villa so no damage could happen overnight. On next morning’s return the agent found new scratch. It did not show up on our photos from the day before and we know it was not there. The only explanation is that he (the agent) scratched the car intentionally when we waited on the other side of the car for his inspection. We had CDW with excess of Euro 900. The company sent us a repair bill for exactly this 900 Euro for 1 small scratch on already damaged door by previous renters. This company employs criminals and most likely the whole company is complicit in this “business model”.
Wheego never again
Confirmed booking, with reservation number. On the pickup date, I was in a cue in their office for 30 minutes. Only one employee was “serving “ the customers. The employee told me that his management instructed him to cancel all reservations done the day before because of unavailability of cars. Despite the fact that they hat my mobile number and mail address, no information or warning. On the moment of the pick up they tell you that despite the confirmed reservation you can go to hell. I was on a business trip and needed a car. Finally I found another company that could help me . Wheego is completely unreliable and dishonest, attractive offers and smooth advertising, in reality…no business ethics.
This car hire company is a total scam
This car hire company is a total scam. When I picked up the vehicle at Malaga airport they told me it had to be clean inside and outside when I brought it back. It was absolutely filthy on both when I picked it up. It also had a couple of scratches. So I took pictures and went back inside. They waved me away saying yes they knew and it would be absolutely fine. They had held a deposit of 3,500 euros on my card. When I got back they said one of the scratches was me, which it most definitely wasn't. Even when I showed them the pictures that we had taken they wouldn't accept it and I reminded them I had gone back in and mentioned it. They processed 2,000 euros on my credit card which even if I had scratched the vehicle is astonomical. The scratch is no more than 5 cm and would buff out with tcut. I now have to wait weeks for a damage report from them which I can then submit to my insurance company. Then a few more weeks for the refund of the difference. She kept changing the amount of time until I would hear from a week to weeks. I had a bad feeling when I picked up the vehicle and it played out. Absolute scam artists. DO NOT USE!!
⭐ Terrible Experience
⭐ Terrible Experience - Confirmed Booking Cancelled with Zero Respect for the Customer
I booked a car through Wheego’s website for pickup at Tunis Carthage Airport for the period from June 23 to July 18, with confirmation received on May 11 (Booking Reference: 4500000256).
On June 12, I received an email from Wheego Mobility Tunisia stating that my booking was cancelled due to unavailability of vehicles caused by scheduling and booking pressure. I immediately rejected this cancellation, as my booking was officially confirmed, and requested that they either provide the reserved vehicle, offer an equivalent or better replacement, or compensate me — especially since my travel date was approaching and prices were rising.
Their response was that all of their vehicles had been involved in accidents except one, and that they could not provide any alternative. That same day, I filed a formal complaint with Wheego Mobility’s parent company. They confirmed receipt of my email and promised to address the matter — but despite sending more than three follow-up emails over the following weeks, I never received an actual resolution.
This negligence from the parent company makes it clear why the local agent feels free to cancel confirmed bookings without consequence. If the parent company doesn’t respect its commitments to customers and fails to follow up on formal complaints, that reflects a deeper problem with the company’s culture as a whole.
I would not recommend dealing with Wheego to anyone who wants their booking guaranteed.
JUST DON'T DO IT!
JUST DON'T DO IT!
I booked a WheeGo car to be collected from Manchester airport through CarJet. I have my own excess insurance but was refused a car when I went to collect it unless I paid for additional insurance on account of an unexpired speeding penalty. This was, apparently in the Ts & Cs which I never received. On returning the car I was stopped an exorbitant amount for a scratch to an already scratched wheel trim. In spite of months of chasing I have never had the report I need to make a claim on my excess insurance or the balance of the amount paid. WheeGo tell me my contract was with someone else and take no responibility. I reported the matter to Manchester Police and they have not even replied to my complaint, raised through their on-line portal. CarJet are also ignoring me. AVOID WHEEGO. Jury's out on Manchester police and CarJet but so far, no help.
Do not use this company
Do not use this company, They scammed me out of £800 for a scratch on an already damaged hub cap.
The deal was I had to pay on the credit card and they would get an insurance quote and email me a copy, They would then refund the money owed to me from the £800. I have not had any communication about this and have contacted them several times but they have an excuse for not refunding any money every time
Wheego claims that the car was scratched at return and charged us for 800 € 😡
Wheego claims that the car was scratched during our rental period and has charged me 800 €. We claim that the scratches were already there when we picked up the car. Furthermore, the amount they are demanding for scratch removal is completely unreasonably high, even if damage has occurred.
AVOID this scammers at ALL cost!!!!!!!
Warning: €1,200 deposit stolen using zero-loss claim and backdated fake photos!
Do not attempt to use this provider under any circumstances!
Urgent warning regarding the Wheego rental station in Sofia (TOP R Ltd). Once your transaction is completed and they have your security deposit, they completely stop responding. They ignore every form of contact—including official emails, formal notices, and deadlines. There is zero customer service, zero accountability, and a total refusal to communicate.
Furthermore, this operator wrongfully and intentionally withheld my €1,200.00 security deposit following the return of my vehicle. The case is fully documented and backed by indisputable evidence:
No New Damage at Return: The vehicle was returned in flawless, undamaged condition, as proven by my own high-resolution return video with verified timestamps.
Billed for Pre-existing Damage: Wheego charged me for a door scratch that was already officially documented as pre-existing damage on my signed pick-up contract (Rental Agreement RNT-2603).
Fabricated Photo "Proof": The close-up photo submitted by the station as "evidence" bears an embedded system timestamp from January 6, 2026—four months BEFORE my rental in late April. Furthermore, the photo does not even show my car, but a completely different, heavily soiled vehicle.
Their Own Log Shows €0.00 Cost: Wheego’s own internal repair report explicitly lists the repair and labor costs for this alleged scratch as exactly €0.00. Yet, they kept the entire €1,200.00.
Save yourself the money and headache: avoid this company entirely. This matter has now been escalated to a formal credit card chargeback through my bank, consumer protection authorities, and the Bulgarian prosecution authorities.
The staff
The staff at Frankfurt airport – esp. Gracia and Baran – were helpful, friendly, and very competent. Gracia in particular shifted easily between correct High German and correct English. The car itself was top quality, and all went well with the trip. Victor Parker
Never ever use this company fraud…
Never ever use this company fraud complete and utter fraud.
AVOID WHEEGO AT ALL COSTS!
We booked our car rental through Easyjet along with our flights to Crete. The flight was delayed leaving LGW by an hour. On arrival to Heraklion airport we found the directions to the car hire place were worse than useless causing us more delays in picking the car up. Once we did find the place we were then told our reservation was cancelled as we were over an hour late and didn't call ahead. How can we call from the plane when we can't use our phones???
They were totally unhelpful at this point and pretty much through us out the office. I'll be taking this matter up with Easyjet as we managed to rent a car somewhere else (Sixt) who were very polite and helpful. Avoid Wheego at all costs, they're cheap and nasty, with poor customer service and cluesless staff that would be better off breaking rocks in the hot sun.
Avoid Wheego in Sofia
Avoid Wheego in Sofia, Bulgaria.
I had a very poor experience with this company and was charged €450 for alleged damage after returning the car. I strongly dispute this charge, as I do not believe the damage was caused by me. In my view, the accusation was unfair, unsupported, and felt like an attempt to charge customers for imaginary or pre-existing damage.
On top of this, the attitude of the staff was unprofessional. Instead of dealing with the matter properly and providing clear evidence, they handled the situation poorly and made the whole experience stressful and unpleasant.
No clear evidence was provided to prove that the damage happened during my rental period, yet I was still charged a large amount.
I would strongly warn other customers to be extremely careful when renting from Wheego Sofia. Take detailed photos and videos of the whole car before driving away and again when returning it. Check every scratch, wheel, bumper, mirror, and panel, and do not rely on verbal assurances.
Based on my experience, I would not use this company again and I would not recommend them to anyone.
Long Delay in Deposit Refund and No Response from Support
I eventually received my deposit refund, but the process took far too long. What was even more disappointing was the complete lack of communication from customer support. I contacted Wheego multiple times regarding the status of my refund and received no response.
While the deposit was ultimately returned, customers should not have to spend weeks chasing their own money without updates or support. The experience caused unnecessary stress and has significantly reduced my confidence in using this service again.
I hope Wheego improves both its refund processing times and customer service responsiveness.
If I could give them zero stars
If I could give them zero stars, I would have. Rented a car in Sofia, Bulgaria, paid 1400 euros in deposit, returned the car with zero dmg, (I have documentation) and they still havent paid the deposit back. I have tried 3 times to contact them, not even getting an answer.
DONT EVER USE THEM.
TO BE AVOIDED
This company is to be avoided at all costs. They lied about my comprehensive insurance and on the back of the misleading information they provided, they extracted more money from me. They failed to send me the appropriate documentation for a parking ticket I picked up but still charged me a whopping 175 Euro "administrative fee". They do not respond to any communications. There are many far better and more reliable companies out there.
is this a set up!?
Email with pick up direction incorrect. Is this part of a scam? When I called and given correct location I eventually got to their office. The phone was constantly ringing with other customers looking for help to find bus pick up point. This leads to customers becoming frustrated and tired and in my opinion more likely to purchase the add on insurance. I didn't and was given the keys to my car without inspection. So I took a picture of a scratch I found on the rear panel. On return, you guessed it! it was thoroughly inspected and the scratch was highlighted. I showed them the picture to prove my innocence. They returned to the car and with remarkable insight wiped dust off the front bunnet near the window to reveal a scratch which I had missed. I challenged the credibility of the find as they thought the first scratch was done by me. Proving that they if they missed that scratch it was entirely feasible they missed the other one too. I was dismissed out of hand and I am waiting to be billed for the damage. oh and since I had a picture of the scratch before I took ownership of the car I strongly suggested the previous hirer must have that scratch on record to avoid false allegations down the line. No such record was available. I stressed that unless they record the findings then is is entirely feasible that the scratches on my hired car could be passed onto the next driver again. Could it not? the company didn't come across to me as having any integrity and looked like this was how they done business. The reviews speak volumes and customers will dry up.
Hired a car at Burgas Airport thru Flex…
Hired a car at Burgas Airport thru Flex to go who also operate under the Wheego name on the 17th June 2026.Called their offices and was met at the Airport with their representative Daniel who was very pleasent and courtious. The checkout was quick and efficient and we were on our way within 10 mins.We returned our car on the 20th June having clocked about 70 km in total.Again there were no issues and were dropped by Daniel to the Airport.Would recommend this company in Burgas however cannot say the same for their franchisee at Krakow Airport were a few months ago they refused to honour my booking because my credit card did not have my name embossed which is ridiculois as hardly any credit card company issue embossed cards any more. Will use Flex to go or Wheego in Burgas Airport if we ever return to this Area again. The only thing is i was informed that it can take 30 days for the return of my deposit which should be released quicker if there were no issues with the car when returned which was in my case.
I had a fully paid
I had a fully paid, non-refundable reservation with this company in Corfu made via Carla aggregator.
After booking, I called their office and was treated rudely by the staff, who insisted that I had no reservation despite my confirmation. They never called me back, never sent the promised shuttle, and provided no assistance whatsoever. When I called again, they just insulted me.
Extremely unprofessional service and a terrible customer experience. I strongly recommend avoiding this company and taking your business elsewhere.
