Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 3,529 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently complained about terrible customer support, noting long delays, unhelpful automated bots, and rude representatives who offered no real assistance. Buyers also experienced severe issues with missing deliveries, damaged items, and prolonged difficulties securing fair refunds through the system. Though some customers had great results in the past and found the platform useful for discovering everyday items, the prevailing sentiment remained highly critical. Reviewers additionally highlighted frustrating website navigation, unresponsive communication channels, and restrictive policies regarding dispute resolutions that left many feeling ignored. Shoppers warned others about misleading listings and unhelpful seller interactions that made resolving problems nearly impossible.

The company Washma01 from Leicester

The company Washma01 from Leicester, England is NOT TO BE TRUSTED.

EBAY SHOULD REMOVE THEM FROM THEIR BUSINESS ALTOGETHER

THEY ARE NOT HONEST

I ordered a women's leather crossbody bag and it was made of cheap fabric and a man's bag.

I got a refund, yes, but not the bag I wanted at the price I wanted.

Watch out. Don't buy from them

eBay Refunded the Buyer After Confirming the Item Matched Its Original Condition

As a seller, I am extremely disappointed with how eBay handled my case.
A buyer raised a dispute regarding an item I sold. The item was sent through eBay's authentication process, and I subsequently received an email from eBay stating that their authenticator had verified that the item "matches its original condition" before returning it to me.
Despite this finding, eBay refunded the buyer and deducted £191 from my funds.
What I find most concerning is the apparent contradiction. If the item was verified as matching its original condition by eBay's own authentication team, it is difficult to understand why a refund was issued against the seller. The decision-making process was not explained in sufficient detail, leaving me with more questions than answers.
Sellers rely on eBay's policies and authentication services to provide fair and consistent outcomes. In my experience, the final decision did not appear to align with the evidence referenced in eBay's own communication.
I have requested that the case be reviewed and that a full explanation be provided. Until then, I have little confidence that sellers are afforded the level of protection that eBay advertises.
Unfortunately, this experience has significantly damaged my trust in the platform.

No existent customer service

Extremely disappointed with eBay. Trying to resolve a problem is virtually impossible. You get passed from one department to another, round and round, without ever speaking to anyone who can actually help. There appears to be no straightforward way to submit a proper complaint or appeal when something goes wrong.

In my case, a buyer made an allegation about a damaged lens, which was returned with no evidence of the alleged scratch. eBay decided in the buyer’s favour, took the money from me and provided no satisfactory explanation.

As a seller, I feel completely unsupported. It’s incredibly frustrating that there seems to be no accountability, no meaningful communication and no effective way to challenge a decision.

Very poor customer service. I expected considerably better from a company as large as eBay.

Unfortunately

Unfortunately, eBay UK has lost its way when it comes to customer protection. Increasingly, dishonest sellers provide inaccurate product descriptions, yet we are still expected to return the items—and we are even forced to bear the return shipping costs ourselves. I can understand being charged for return shipping if I simply change my mind about a purchase, but being penalized when we’ve been misled is completely unacceptable—especially since other retailers handle returns without charging the customer for shipping. I’m already buying less on eBay, but given the current situation, I wouldn’t recommend the platform to anyone, and I’m moving even further away from shopping there.

Oh Ebay...

Ebay have become a nightmare. They seem to have adjusted their protocols way down. Expect to get locked out of an account on a hair trigger. You will not be able to re-instate your account. We have tried multiple times to sort our experience with them. We have been met with incompetence, obstruction and terrible rudeness. We will avoid using them as much as possible from now on. It is way too risky trying to do business with them. Very sad.

Disgusting company!

Buyers you do not have any protection with this company. I ordered a watch from Japan. I paid the VAT on my invoice and then when the watch reaches UK they ask me for more money. I reject the item then I ask for a full refund and eBay says no. I raised the case with customer service and they close my case for no reason whatsoever. Absolute disgusting! I lost £100. I will be taking my case to the Ombudsman.

Ebay full of scams

I am finding Ebay sellers less and less honest and am having many more non delivered purchases. I was sent a special discounted battery purchase offer yesterday and soon realised it was a scam as it was actually far too small to be what it was advitised as. Reported to Ebay replied they had AI scanned and it was fine. Be aware of scams on Ebay because they are not checking properly!

Review for eBay Seller: authenticaromas98 (Fragrance & Cosmetics Seller)

Review for eBay Seller: authenticaromas98 (Fragrance & Cosmetics Seller:

I am writing this review specifically for the independent eBay UK seller authenticaromas98, who specializes in luxury and designer fragrances.

Because Trustpilot groups all marketplace feedback under the main eBay domain, I want to publicly verify my experience with this specific seller.

I had a horrendous experience with this seller who has demonstrated a complete lack of professionalism, responsibility and basic customer care. The delivery tracking has been an absolute shambles, with conflicting and inaccurate tracking information and no clear confirmation that the delivery process was ever properly completed. Despite the considerable inconvenience and uncertainty this has caused, the seller has shown very little empathy, made no meaningful effort to resolve the situation and has been entirely unwilling to cooperate. Their attitude towards customer satisfaction is appalling. Selling an item is not simply about taking payment; it also involves ensuring that the item is delivered correctly and taking responsibility when things go wrong. I would strongly advise other buyers to think twice before purchasing from this seller. I certainly would not buy from them again. PayPal ruled in my favour, found the seller at fault and fully refunded the purchase. Others have noted that the products are counterfeit.

eBay company is a scam, DO NOT SELL HERE AT ALL

eBay company is a scam, DO NOT SELL HERE

One day and for no reason my account was suspended with 3000£ inside. And here when the LONG JOURNEY STARTS.

1- Communication: If your eBay is suspended, you literally have no way to reach a real person, AT ALL, They send you to a contact us page where you write a whole complaint just for a bot to send you a generic email few minutes later. I had to contact them from another Browser where im not logged in, and then you will be able to see "Let us call you option".

2- BOTS controlled agents: When you get hold of someone, they ask you about your name, and then ask you to stay on hold for 2 minutes, and they come back with the same answer Everytime, they do not bother by taking a deep review, they only read what already the bot has told you, and when i asked about what happen to my funds, I was told that I need to wait 180 days in order to get them out. I have tried everything i could to convince thel, I had 100% positive feedbacks, tracked items with delivery, and every claim opened was resolved, so what is the reason behind the hold? Because all orders at that point were already been delivered. I had to accept this with a soar throat, as i shipped every item with my own money, waiting 180 days was my only option, or so, thats what I thought... Because what about to happen is mind blowing.
3- 180 Days are over: So I waited this long, and on the day that my funds are supposed to be available for withdrawals, I see no withdraw option, it was locked, I was thinking maybe i should give it extra days.... 10-15 days after and I still cannot withdraw, So i had to go again through that tunnel to just get an agent to call me, and here come to mind blowing fact.
The agent with all confidence told me, that indeed 180 days are passed, but there was a SECOND SUSPENSION that was placed on my account... How can one account be suspended while it is being suspended? A double suspension?? I have no words how to describe this.
The Agent then said, you have to wait 250 days for the payout from the second suspension. YES YOU HEARD it right, I was told to wait 250 days, The agent refused to give any explanation on why or how, but as i said, their bots are praised, and they put no efforts at all to review your information, so if an agent put you on hold, just be assured that they taking a sip of coffee.

4- eBay is a liar: Here is the cherry on top, When your ebay is suspended, your store is removed from the marketplace, and if you have any open orders, your clients will freak out, and ofc their next move will be sending you a message about what happens to their order, BUT, BUT, when eBay is suspended, you are unable to respond to any messages, they remove that ability, So my clients were left without any answer for few days (BTW, eBay, this is how you give your website visitors a heart attack and the worst experience and drive them away for your website). SO what the clients do next is OPEN A CLAIM. And here my fellow reader, YOU ARE SCREWED, because, Hear me out, when a customer open a claim, that claim is instantly raised to a dispute, and eBay send you a message saying "The customer reached out to us" which is a TOTAL LIE, because seconds after the claim is open its automatically becomes a dispute? and eBay with all confidence says the customer reach out for more help? and after this by few seconds, ebay take the decision of refunding the client. SO, if im wrong, a claim is opened, then raised to a dispute, then an agent looked at it and verified every proof, then refunded the client, all within 5 second? YES SURE. SURE. so all you can do, is to sit and watch your money being refunded by ebay automatically and the products already on their way, and you can do nothing about it, not a single thing.
I have called them to ask what is happening? And an agent said with all confidence, no, we actually look at those disputes, I was like: within seconds?? and he went quite and said that he will not be able to assist me as all the tools available in his hand are not sufficient to do anything.... IMAGINE.

So at the end, eBay kept the fees they deducted from me, my clients have the order delivered and some of them received a refund on top of that, and me, Had to suffer from the money already on hold for 180+250 days + the automatically refunded amounts. if this is not MADNESS, please let me know what it is?
NOTE: I have every proof, every screenshot, everything about everything i have mentioned here, I have a proof for it all, and if anyone or any lawyer, reach out to me, This company cannot stop scamming their sellers, AT ALL.
My advice for seller: If you plan to start selling on eBay, please think twice, I have everything legal, even if you have everything legal they will still shut you down and follow their bot's decision, BELIEVE ME, IT really is not worth it, one day you wake up to a suspended ebay for not reason and go through all of the above

Dishonest sellers

Sellers with a UK tag bring in junk from China, and eBay takes no responsibility for it—even when you end up waiting weeks for a delivery that’s supposedly coming from London. It’s just absurd. 0 stars

Guarantee? What guarantee!

Passing the buck! EBay please inform your sellers that the shipment service provider has a duty to prove secure delivery of an item ie handed and signed for.
It occurred on: 2026-10-22
This meant that I am out of pocket. It has left me feeling extremely disappointed. I understand that it is the seller / sender who should be taking this issue up with RM to issue a refund so that I, in turn receive a refund and am able to purchase what I need again without paying twice for one item.
Goes without saying - I will not be using EBay again until I feel safe in the knowledge I will be refunded the seller’s clearly ignoring my request for a refund and is therefore in breach of contract.
I hope you will be in touch with me asap to resolve this matter.

eBay reneging on promises: are they scamming me?

In May 2026, I paid in advance for an item that was expected to be delivered in July.

When it wasn’t, I approached the vendor, and was told that the item would come ‘in the next few weeks’. Needless to say, it didn’t, and when I approached the vendor again (on several occasions) I had no reply at all.

I therefore went to eBay themselves, seeking a refund. My initial conversations with customer relations were protracted, but eventually managed to overcome the fact that the ‘30 day rule’ wasn’t applicable (it was an 'advance order'), and at the end of August, I had an email telling me that I would be refunded my entire payment within seven working days.

This didn’t happened, despite my sending reminders.

I have tried again several times, and even contacted Eve Williams, who runs eBay in the UK. We went round the same circles with various officers, who all offered the same, meaningless advice, and ignored the fact that eBay had already agreed to refund my payment.

Latterly, I have been ghosted, and now get no replies at all, despite the fact that I am £150 out of pocket, and was promised a refund by eBay themselves.

It’s quite clear that I have been scammed, and someone at eBay recognised that by agreeing the refund, but the system now seems set to obfuscate, perhaps in the hope that I will give up.

Given that eBay's reputation relies on an assumption that they are trustworthy, this feels like a very poor move. It is disappointing to realise that eBay itself is now scamming customers…

Tried to resolve a simple balance query…

Tried to resolve a simple balance query with ebay, and proved impossible to sort out. By the time you weave your way through endless links trying to answer questions they think you have, you end up on their virtual assistant who does everything to stop you from talking to an actual human being. And then when you get through after an hour of trying, the chat still seems to be AI rather than an actual person, and when they can’t understand what you are trying to ask, they cut you off and make you start all over again. Utterly horrendous experience with ebay.

Extremely disappointing experience with…

Extremely disappointing experience with eBay – Account suspended without a fair explanation

I am extremely disappointed with eBay's decision to suspend my business account, claiming that my business is considered unsafe for their platform.

I have recently taken over my late uncle's established business and was looking to use eBay as an opportunity to expand our sales and reach new customers. As part of setting up the account, I provided the requested business details, only to be informed that the account was deemed unsuitable or unsafe for eBay.

I find this decision both frustrating and difficult to understand. My company is VAT registered, recognised by HMRC, and is a legitimate business operating within the UK. I was simply trying to establish a presence on eBay and grow the business.

What concerns me most is that eBay appears to have made this decision without giving me a clear explanation or a reasonable opportunity to demonstrate the legitimacy of the business and provide any further documentation required.

It is incredibly disheartening to be treated this way when all I have tried to do is continue the business following the passing of a family member and take it forward.

I completely understand that eBay has policies and procedures in place to protect its marketplace, but legitimate, tax-registered UK businesses should be given a fair opportunity to operate on the platform.

I would strongly encourage eBay to review how these decisions are made and, more importantly, how they communicate them to genuine business owners.

At this stage, my first experience with eBay as a business seller has been extremely disappointing, and I would welcome a proper explanation as to why my legitimate business has been considered unsafe.
