Shit customer service teams and sneaky billing
Shit customer service teams. They have zero value for their customers, continuously increase their prices, and charge you hidden fees due to their terrible and deceptive marketing and description of services. There are so many better mobile service providers out there for a fraction of the $$. Maybe instead of increasing your prices every 2 months, increase the level of customer service training you provide your reps because their service is horrendous. Thanks :)
Gave these clowns over a month notice…
Gave these clowns over a month notice that I was moving house. And still have to face a long delay to get the fibre connected. Even though it's already installed at the new property. These guys truly suck. Go somewhere else do not support spark/skinny. There online messaging service sucks and then they blame you because the messages didn't go through or your weren't notified of there replies. I will be changing providers as soon as possible. Would give a 0 star review if I could.
Beyond Useless
If I could give Spark no stars I would. The transfer of my eSIM from one iPhone to another while travelling overseas did not work. All my other number transferred bar one and that was resolved by the phone company emailing me a QR code. Spark’s solution you need to change from a pre paid to monthly (and that may not work) or get a physical SIM card from a Spark shop in NZ - very antiquated! And I topped up
my roaming pack because I thought that was the issue. Will move from Spark as soon as I can as they are hopeless.
Misleading and Dishonest
Spark emailed me on their official letter head that I have a credit of over $1,000.
When I queried it, they just emailed me and said oops not your credit, basically destined for another person, get over yourself.
Just kept repeating they made a mistake.
Very dismissive, belligerent and rude
Terrible
Terrible. Ashburton, Dave the worst, ripped off my mother in law
Appalling company nowadays
In my opinion, unfortunately, Spark has become a super greedy outfit offering a relatively good technical service, but an outragiously expensive, non customer oriented face. Recent price hikes and cunning new pricing for roaming have ruined my faith in the outfit. I'm stuck with my personal account, but have canceled all biz accounts which makes me feel a little happier!
Keeping outages secret?
SPARK currently have an outage, but this is not communicated on any easily accessible platforms or on their website. I had to phone Spark and go through numerous voice prompts and numberpad pressing to be given an automated message telling me that there are issues. Not good enough Spark! I understand that you may have issues, but why was this information not posted somewhere like Current Outages or similar. Very frustrating.
Utterly Useless for rural customers
Living 12 mins from Rotorua CBD but Spark call it rural we cannot buy more than a 60GB monthly internet package. Yet neighbrs, 40 steps away, have Unlimited from Spark. ABSURD! And we are only allowed 5 top-ups of 10 Gb at 10.00 each. Add that to yr monthly bill! Pathetic! Waiting Starlink installation this week, fingers xd. Been with them elsewhere for yonks but no longer!!
Terrible service for a new broadband…
Terrible service for a new broadband connection sent a new modem that does not work used another spark modem SIM card not working either had to drive in a total of two hours to return just said cancel such a waste of time don’t recommend as well as sign up over phone took 40 min the guy could barely understand English
$600 Difference Just Five Days After My Purchase
Really disappointed with how Spark has handled my recent iPhone purchase.
I’ve been a Spark customer for almost 9 years and recently purchased two new iPhone 18 Pro Max devices, committing to another two-year term. At the time, Spark was offering $600 off each phone. Just five days later, that promotion increased to $900 off per device.
I completely understand that promotions change, but a $300-per-phone increase only five days after purchase means I’m now effectively $600 worse off simply because I ordered a few days earlier.
I contacted Spark and asked whether they would consider applying the difference as a goodwill credit, particularly given how long I’ve been a customer. So far, the response has essentially been that I agreed to the promotion available at the time and that promotions change.
Legally, that may well be the case, but from a customer-service perspective I find it extremely disappointing. After nearly nine years with Spark, purchasing two premium phones and committing to another two years, I would have expected a little more consideration when the difference arose only five days later.
I’ve asked for the matter to be escalated and I’ll update this review if Spark comes back with a reasonable resolution. At the moment, though, this experience has seriously made me reconsider whether I’ll remain with Spark once my current term ends.
I don’t know why I stayed with this…
I don’t know why I stayed with this dumb company for the years that I did with the amount of times they’ve played me around. There was times I’d made payments which they said were not registered in their system .. and they’d put my name in for unpaid bills. So frustrating. I also have family members who would be hit with 800$ monthly bills over nothing. Absolutely the most frustrating and stressful company you could be with. I’m with OneNz now and oh how amazing it is to not have to put up with these guys. This company will go down under very soon I can feel it and when they do I will celebrate for all the people saved.
Fine but expensive
Haven't had any major problems with Spark. Occasionally the internet has been slow but that seems to be more the Wifi than the fibre itself. Spark are fine, but the cost is pretty high - $136 a month now, so looking at alternatives like Simply Broadband.
LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Bought a phone, paid half in cash rest on finance, set my payments up as direct credit, when i went to pay my first bill, because of the multiple errors done by spark it put my account into credit, after months of back & fourth with so many different CSR's, it took 3mths to sort out only to be hit with a bill of $500+, weeks of back & fourth, I tried to pay this off, the stress & overwhelming frustration, it all became too much & the bill became so out of reach to pay. Next thing I know, I can only receive calls & texts due to suspension & have just found the means to pay my account, but still cant use my phone because now I cant afford the reconnection fees. It isnt even about the money, its the principle that after speaking to so many different CSR's, a Team Leader wrote to me & said I can confirm that your case has now been fully reviewed and discussed with our voice team, and the charges have been clearly validated and explained & literally gaslit me for my account being the way it was.
Im so beside myself with Disgust by this companys lack of accountability & regret moving from one nz
Extremely Poor
Its not often I purposely go out to do a negative review but the product & service were so bad I felt I needed to let people know. I persevered with Spark NZ for over a year and had issue after issue which would be seemingly resolved only to return to haunt me numerous times. I caught the helpline phone operator lying about what they had told me (which had been recorded). Constantly overcharged for mobile services (texts, calls, data) not used and often being cut off for miscalculated service use. While I was not at fault, I was left with no choice but to top up to keep my business going. I finally saw the light and have changed providers. Spark are simply not worth the time it takes to get resolution. The time taken impinged on my time and business and in the end they ended up costing me money as well. Particularly poor service, untruthful, and expensive in time and money spent.
OMG! What a rubbish company
OMG! What a rubbish service! Today I went to text somebody in the usual way and the text wouldn't go through. Trying to get hold of them to ask them questions and get them to sort things is like swimming from New Zealand to Australia or walking up Mount Everest and Janals. The whole experience is just toxic and too hard I'm switching
Spark NZ is nothing but an absolute…
Spark NZ is nothing but an absolute joke. They hang up on you every time they call you for support saying "i'll just check details and place you on hold". They make you wait for an hour on hold when they actually call. Online support is shocking, they send you round and round in circles between random staff not reading the issue that is in question. really poor for an NZ business.
If Zero stars was possible.....
If Zero stars was possible.....
Completely mislead purchasing a mobile pack only to be told itll take 24 hrs to activate. 48+ hours later still nothing and Chat bot and customer services Completely useless and just there to waste your time. Pos
Spark doesn’t do what the ads say
Spark doesn’t do what the ads. Even their staffs are liars.
In the promo , it says if you join 24months plan you’ll get cash back as in my case is $1200. I got nothing. The staff at store said he’d given discount for plan . Guess what, nothing. Now I’m paying for full price of the phone plus 12cents for god knows what . Lolz
Spark has absolutely no interest at all…
Spark has absolutely no interest at all in providing any kind of customer service. As with large companies like this, it has been structured so that you could spend a life time trying to get through all the red tape. It seems that despite most people leaving a disappointed review no body at Spark is remotely interested in becoming better. The only way to leave a review is leaving 1 star, if there were an option I would not give them any stars.
No service from Spark Rangiora
We pay for Spark roaming but not getting the coverage. We tried ringing them but no one picks up the phone. We leave messages but no one calls us back. Their service is none existent. Update. They finally rang back and told me to take the phone in or ring their help line. I think that is not much more use to me than no reply. I give up.
