I would not book through SmartFares again.

I purchased an Alaska Airlines ticket through SmartFares and paid an additional $35 for the Easy Cancellation Package because I believed it would give me some flexibility if my travel plans changed.

Unfortunately, when I needed to cancel my trip, I was told that my ticket could not be canceled. The only refund I received was the $35 Easy Cancellation Package fee. The airfare itself was not refundable, and no future flight credit was available because it was a Saver fare.

I contacted Alaska Airlines directly to see if there were any options available. They confirmed that because the ticket was purchased through SmartFares, they could not make any changes or offer any assistance. They also confirmed that the Saver fare had no remaining value as a future flight credit or refund.

What disappointed me most was that I paid extra for the Easy Cancellation Package, yet when I needed to cancel, it did not provide the flexibility I expected. I wish the limitations of the Easy Cancellation Package had been explained much more clearly before purchase.

My advice to future travelers is to read all the fare rules very carefully and fully understand what the Easy Cancellation Package does and does not cover before purchasing. If the price difference is small, I would strongly recommend booking directly with the airline instead of using a third-party travel agency. It can save a great deal of time, frustration, and uncertainty if your travel plans change.

It's a scam! I was buying the ticket, the price on the website was different than the one I got to approve via text message from my bank. Thus, I did not approve the purchase, the transaction was rejected and I thought I was safe. Unfortunately the company illegally charged my credit card THE NEXT DAY which was not unfortunately stopped by my bank and for over a month I cannot resolve the issue and get my refund for a ticket I DID NOT BUY but for which they charged me. AVOID at all cost

I apologize, originally I thought SmartFares might have mislead me, but I was wrong. I just booked a flight at a very good price, but despite the fact SmartFares said it included luggage -- I did not see how this was possible at this price. However both Westjet and Air Lingus have confirmed, in fact my fare does include checked luggage. I am very impressed.

I had a great experience

Other booking companies will notify users if they are booking a flight that can't be changed. This company just took their flexible ticket fee and then later told me that I couldn't change my flight. This is the 21st century guys, we have the technology.

They cancelled my reservation 4 days before take off, and now flights have gone up by 400 dollars. I called customer service for a solution. After explaining my situation, they hung up within 5 seconds. Terrible company with no accountability, there are many other options you should take.
