Don't belive the hype
*Updated after Octopus’s reply. So, if the final bill hasn’t been produced, shouldn’t the exit fee be on the final bill then, not on the bill I received on the 29th, the day I switched? I have a smart meter that submits readings. This is another example of Octopus’s excuse for not refunding money! Oh, and I spoke to an advisor on the 29th who advised my account is all up to date with no further charges.
So, I have left Octopus Energy. Why have I left? Firstly, it’s when you get forced to increase your direct debit, and when the credit starts building up, you can’t reduce it without raising a complaint. Now I have switched to another provider, I can’t even request a refund from my account, even though my final bill has been paid. So, I had to phone up, and it’s now been seven days since the call, and I still haven’t received a refund. But they couldn’t wait to charge their £75 exit fee. It’s a shame you can’t refund credit as quickly. Another reason I left is that even with the £75 exit fee, I found a supplier that is cheaper by nearly 40%. But if I haven’t got the refund within 10 working days, my formal complaint will be raised to Ofgem.
