Returning the rug and getting the subsequent refund took an absolute age and needed about 25 separate emails no communication from them as to what was happening at any stage needed chasing at every step, it is my belief they just wouldnt have refunded me at all if I hadnt kept chasing - it was appalling service

I haven’t dealt with this company before but no problems with ordering or delivery of a jute runner.
The runner is not as sturdy or thick as I was expecting but having said that it is lightweight and looks good.
Overall very pleased with my purchase.

Beautiful rug, but extremely disappointing quality and customer service

I purchased the Benuta Lana wool rug for £350 in December 2025. Unfortunately, I have been extremely disappointed with both the rug and the way my complaint has been handled.

The rug has experienced significant fibre shedding across the entire surface. This is not just a small amount of normal shedding from a new wool rug — there are fibres coming away throughout the rug in such quantities that they accumulate around the vacuum brush and have caused repeated blockages to my Dyson.

I contacted Benuta because I was concerned about the condition of the rug. I was told that the problem was caused by using a motorised rotating vacuum brush and that I should have used a non-rotating nozzle on low suction.

The problem is that this was not something I was made clearly aware of when purchasing the rug. I was already using my vacuum on a low suction setting. Had I known that the rug required a specific type of vacuum attachment and that using a standard motorised floor head could cause this level of fibre loss, I would have seriously reconsidered buying it.

What I found particularly disappointing was the response from Benuta. Rather than offering to take the rug back and properly investigate the issue, they repeatedly stated that the problem was caused by my vacuum and refused to accept a return or provide a full refund. They offered 15% (£52.50) as a goodwill gesture, which they said was their final offer.

I explained that the issue is occurring across the whole rug, not just one isolated area, and provided photographs showing the extent of the fibre loss and the fibres wrapped around the vacuum brush. Despite this, Benuta maintained that there was no product fault and refused a full refund.

I am sharing this review because I wish I had known about the very specific care requirements before spending £350 on this rug.

If you are considering buying a Benuta natural-fibre or wool rug, I strongly recommend checking the exact vacuuming requirements before purchasing and making sure you understand which type of vacuum head they consider suitable. In my experience, this information was not sufficiently clear to me when purchasing the Lana rug.

The rug itself looked lovely when new, but unfortunately the excessive shedding and the way my complaint has been handled have left me very disappointed.

£350 is a lot of money for a rug, and I expected much better.

Ordered a rug that was delivered mid-April. Was really happy with it, then we went away for a week and came back to find a big hole with fluff surrounding it right in the middle of the rug. Lifted the sofa to see if there was any other damage and found another hole with little dead furry beetles around it. Didn’t know what they were or how this could have happened in just one week, so uploaded photos into AI. The answer came back as carpet beetle damage and due to the gestation period, likely to have already been present in the rug when it arrived. We sent numerous photos to Benuta who have tried to wriggle out of responsibility claiming initially that our Hoover caused the damage, even though underneath the sofa had not been hoovered and you can clearly see the wool has been chewed and the presence of dead beetles They have offered a 20% refund as ‘goodwill’ and when I turned it down upped it to 51% but stated that both offers were dependent on us sending the rug to them, where they would assess it and could then potentially offer us less as they would take wear and tear into consideration. We have turned their offer down and will pursue a refund through our credit card company, but be warned if you buy a rug from Benuta, it could come with an extra something you weren’t expecting!
Our rug is just outside their 60 day return period so if you think less than 3 months is an acceptable lifespan for a rug, you are happy to potentially transfer carpet beetle larvae to your other carpets and you enjoy being on the receiving end of aggressive and accusatory customer service, go ahead and buy from Benuta, you won’t be disappointed!

This is an honest review. I ordered from this company without checking trust pilot and was then devastated to read the reviews. I shouldn’t have been. I ordered the rug on Sunday and it is now sitting pretty in my conservatory. I am so pleased with the item and cannot believe how quickly it’s has been delivered from Germany! I highly recommend this company. I would prefer to have a phone number for contact rather than just an email but on this occasion everything was perfect from start to finish. Great price, great rug.

Tried to return my rug and sent tracking info and proof of return and weeks on still have not got my refund - going to trading standards

*warning* firstly the item arrived 10 days after the advised date mentioned on the website as soon as I placed the order I received an email advising there was a delay. Do not buy from the company, the rug they sent me had a huge water stain on the rug with a very strong smell of damp. After contacting their customer service team, they refused to collect the item and advised it was my responsibility to return this item at a cost of my own. Do not give this company your money, speaking from experience.

Very poor experience with benuta.

My £800 order never left Germany and was returned for unclear reasons, with no proper explanation despite multiple emails. I was left out of pocket for weeks.

When I tried to reorder, their website wouldn’t accept my address. I explained I was on mobile and couldn’t use PayPal, but was just told to “try a computer” — no real help. They also refused to place the order manually.

While waiting for these unhelpful responses, the price increased by £160, cancelling out their “goodwill” discount.

This isn’t user error — I followed all instructions and contacted support several times. The issue was never resolved.

Poor communication, no accountability, and a very frustrating experience. Would not recommend.

My husband purchased one rug, we received two and not the size we bought.

We have been trying to get hold of the company but the number doesn’t work and they are not responding to email.

This company is one of the most unprofessional companies I've had displeasure of dealing with. I've never come across with worst return procedures than the one at Benuta, and the time it takes to get anything done is beyond unbelievable. Communication is pretty much nonexistent, and lying about sending emails seems to be the norm. Regrettably, I made one purchase at Benuta and will never buy anything from them again. And last but not least, after making the purchase I spoke to an owner of a local rug resizing and alteration company and he refused to make any alterations to rugs from Benuta because of poor craftsmanship of their rugs.

Ordered Eva rug which does not resemble the picture- looks very cheap and tacky even though priced at over £200. I have bought cheaper rugs that look more quality than this! On top of it all, return is on me, with a £19.90 charge and customs labels to fill out. Benuta has a .co.uk address so the impression is I’m ordering from the uk which is deceitful. I will
never again order anything from Benuta!

Iv just purchased a door runner and 1hr later received a your order will be delayed,
It was going to take 10 days as it was which is very slow, then I came to check out there reviews on here !
I now emailed them to cancel but fully expect to be ignored then if I’m not ignored I will receive some of there torture tactics,
I will write reviews until I’m blue in the face as they need to be called out!

Scammers. I have purchased 2 rugs and they where the same rugs just different sizes. Both of the rugs looked very different even though they where the same rug just in different sizes. So because the item was not like on listing i wanted to do a return because they said the return will be free of charge. When I sent the 2 parcels they have decided to REFUSE to accept one of my parcels and they only have refunded me for one of my rugs! NOW I DONT HAVE MY MONEY OR MY RUGS. SCAMMERS

Never order from this company! Ordered a very expensive rug! The quality was good but the colour was nothing like the description I have since tried to return the rug.. the customer service is very slow!!’ I must of had up to 50 chats in which time! They picked it up
And have sent it back to me! Now awaiting another date I have had to email them at least 15 times no pick up date I just want my money back!! Awful experience it was ordered on the 15th December!!!

Terrible customer service. The rug I ordered (described as taupe) arrived and is pink! I complained & asked to return the rug, only to be told it will cost me £20!
Awful email responses & not in any way helpful. Avoid!

I ordered the same rug from benuta.no twice. I paid twice. I received nothing.

First order: no updates for three weeks. Tracking showed no real movement. After I contacted support, I was told the rug had been returned to sender. Refund was issued.

Second order: processing took around 10 days. Again, no proactive updates. Two weeks later, DHL returned the package to sender again. No explanation.

Two months wasted. No product delivered. Repeated logistics failures. No proactive communication. I even received a return form for a rug I never received.

Rug Tacoma Cream arrived and was exactly as described! Easy process to order, speedy delivery, and most importantly materials and quality matched what was described. Love our new rug!

I can not be more disappointed, they have variety of products but the website is not functional.

If you remove the rug underlay from the cart, you permanently crashes your shopping cart and can not enter.

I later bought a rug but failed to do the payment on the website, but the money still has been removed from my bank.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!!
Ordered three rugs and the delivery date came and went. Checked tracking, rugs went to the warehouse in Germany and then back to Benuta. They cancelled my order shortly afterwards. Refund was given but appalled by their complete lack of communication and customer service - you cannot get through on the UK number and it takes about a week to get an email back. Buy elsewhere - not a trustworthy company!
