I have used numerous agencies like this to reduce tax bills. Never, ever have I had ZERO reduction in my taxes. Ownwell accomplished NOTHING for us. Do not use them if you expect results. Highly disappointing.

Trash service. Not one appraisal website valued my home price anywhere near where the appraised value was at the time the appraisal was done. Going back in history, it has never come close to even touching the appraised value that Harris county gave me. Ownwell sucks. They just sat there, and let Harris Country Texas ram it up me. Don't use these losers.

Very deceptive results, claimed I would save $600 on my property taxes, the actual savings were $55. Plus, they charged their 25% fee on the $600 they claimed the saved me. Their website is difficult to find where to end agreement and they do not clearly state the agreement goes until the customer ends it. I was trapped in another year with minimal savings, we will see when the tax bill arrive.

Absolutely unacceptable. I would give Ownwell zero stars if I could.
Ownwell was handling my property-tax assessment appeal and was listed as my agent on the county hearing notice. The county scheduled my appeal for a hearing, and I sent Ownwell the hearing notice as well. Yet I received no meaningful response or warning that anything was going to happen with my appeal. The hearing notice itself identifies Ownwell/its representative in connection with my case.

Then I discovered that my appeal had been withdrawn. The county subsequently issued a formal decision documenting the withdrawal of the application.

What is especially infuriating is that I had already contacted Ownwell about the hearing and, from my perspective, received neither a response to that notice nor any advance communication explaining that the application was going to be withdrawn. I wrote to their support immediately afterward because I was stunned by how this had been handled. As expected, there was no response to my email despite them reading the email (yes, I get read receipts when the recipient opens and reads my email).

Think about how bad that is: you hire a company specifically to manage an appeal so that you do not have to navigate the process yourself, and then you find out after the fact that the very appeal they were supposed to handle is gone. No adequate communication. No warning. No opportunity for me to intervene. Whether this was incompetence, terrible internal case management, or simply complete disregard for the customer, the result for me was the same: I trusted Ownwell with an important legal/administrative process and that trust was completely misplaced.

The whole point of paying a service like Ownwell is to have professionals monitor deadlines, communicate important developments, and protect your interests. My experience was the exact opposite. I will never use Ownwell again, and I strongly recommend that anyone considering them think very carefully before handing over control of their property-tax appeal. If you do use them, monitor every filing yourself - because my experience gave me absolutely no confidence that they will protect your case or even keep you properly informed.

Knowing that I would not otherwise have done the research or taken time to accurately protest. my property taxes.this was a win. I like their business model and will be saving money next time we pay property taxes— thanks to Ownwell.

I've been using Ownwell to dispute my property taxes on both my primary residence and my vacation home for the last 4 years and they've been able to save me thousands of dollars every year! The process is super simple... just provide your property information and they do the rest. I'll continue to use Ownwell and I highly recommend them to everyone!

An incredibly easy and reoccurring process to challenge over stepping county assessors in jumping the price to the maximum year after year.

DO NOT USE, FRAUD.

If you have lived in your home for 100 years you might be OK? I was harassed to upload Internet, Phone, Water Bills, etc to prove my ownership? On EACH upload they asked for my Account codes, passwords & last 4 of my SSN. They already had my full SSN, why do you want access to every bill? Do you really believe that I would give you BLANKET access to all of my Accounts? Another GRIFTER Internet Fraud!

I won an appeal to reschedule my protest hearing due to my attorney not showing up for the hearing. I was assured by Ownwell that once I received a letter from HCAD committing to a new date they would step in to represent me in the new hearing. Once I received the letter from HCAD granting a new hearing date, Ownwell changed their mind about representing me at the new hearing.

Everyone chooses to place their bets on who to trust with your money, time and effort. For me this is a company who in my opinion did not stand behind a commitment when I first contacted them, makes you wonder how you would also be treated!

Scam/fraud alert!
Apparently their ai processing program mustve sent a form letter to the assessor's office that resulted in an insulting 0.0005560202% savings on my current property tax. What a crock! What a laughable excuse for a "service".
The time I spent filling out their form was worth more to me than that so they're thieves as well. I'm donating the time to write this review as a charitable donation to the benefit of my fellow citizens. Save your time and money and find someone real to protest your assessment.

In the past I have done the protests myself with success... I said let me give then a shot for 2026... They reduced my Assessment value by 90,000. Have to admit better than I ever did myself.... Well worth the 25percent fee based on your tax savings....

I wanted to outline a few reasons why I feel that Ownwell has wasted my time this year and wants to charge me for Nothing!
I didn't hear from them by March, so I went to TAD myself, they had me fill out a form to remove Ownwell as my property tax agent. And I was able for get $20,000 more savings than Ownwell was.
Now! I hear from them, wanting a payment.
I recommended that going to TAD yourself is a much better option.
Don't fall for Ownwell's trap!

Ownwell was easy to use so I thought I would try it this year. They absolutely put no effort into properly protesting my property. I lost so much money because of them. The county over-valued my property by almost $400,000, and Ownwell didn't even submit comps. They got the value down by $50,000 and called it a success. They also don't tell you when your hearing is schedule for. I had to upload my own comps and do the work (even though they didn't use them) so it's not worth it. Just do it yourself.

Terrible, don't waste your time. The idea was great initially, somebody will take care of your tax exemption while you focus on work and family.... They failed to communicate with the county deadline on multiple occasions, although I provided paperwork needed on a timely basis. My Tax exemption has been now denied because they failed to provide the paperwork to the county on time. I wasted 4-5 months emailing back and forth with some incompetent organization. I'm taking care of my exemption from here, I don't need them.

I used Ownwell to reduce my property taxes. I got a notice that they say they reduced my property taxes but provided no proof. They sent me to a county map that told me nothing. I have asked repeatedly for proof, but have received nothing from them. Whether they actually reduced the taxes or not...who knows. I don't think they deserve what they charge, but it is what it is.

They have done an amazing job in my opinion. I tried disputing my property valuations on my own, but the appeal hearing process was brutal and ended up losing my appeal. I heard about Ownwell and their fees are reasonable, they ended up representing me on my appeal hearing the following year and saved me thousands in taxes across my two properties.

Are you kidding me? "Easy, quick signup". NOT. I am so frustrated with their stupid website. I'm finally bailing. They're asking 1000 questions to "lower my property insurance" and "lower my bills". I do not want ANY of that. I wanted simply to protest my property value. I DEEPLY regret falling for their mailer. Update: I received I communication. Even though I did not finish, *think* they are protesting my value now. We'll see what happens. One other thing: do not let them "File exemptions (like homeowner's and senior) for you". That is free and super easy to get--just ask your appraisal district, which you can get online. Make sure you get the official govt one though; too many out there trying to "help" you for a fee. Trust me, you do NOT need help to get an exemption. You do not want to be paying Ownwell for something that is already your right to have, and very easily obtained. I need to cancel as soon as my protest is done bc otherwise they'll automatically sign me up again. Very deceptive.
