Almost impossible to reach a human. Long hold time on the phone, long wait to chat with a human, and the chat humans are not well-trained so it is just an opportunity to increase your level of frustration. If you are willing to wait for a long time you will get a rep on the phone, but both times the person I got was so heavily accented I had difficulty understanding. Also, there are very few bills that I want in paper but the electric bill is one of them - to avoid surprises. Gexa charges an additional $20 for that, I found out. Plus, their security verification is your DOB or SS- which should never be used for phone verification. There are many other ways to verify ID besides these two pieces of very private data. The reduced price is not worth the vastly discounted level of service. I will leave at the first opportunity.

Great company, Been with them for a year going on two there was some problems with my new contract, i sent an email, they called back and resolved the issue very professionally and im glad I renewed my contract with this company by far the best energy savings. Customer service is great, they care. If you have any issues or concerns send an email or give them a call communication goes a long way.

Do not use this company. They fail to let you know that when you exceed a certain kilowatt usage that their rates are exhorbitant. I thought TXU was bad, Gexa is worse. You really aren't paying for what they advertise because in addition to their charges for kWh you pay for Oncor charges that double your rates in the summer months. Con job!!!

Worst company to try to get auto pay established. Have made 4 (four) attempts to get this done over the kast month. Not completed yet can t apparently be done. GEXA doesn't t return phone calls. PERIOD. But man you better get the check in thd ma the say you receive the bill as it taje 2 (two) weeks for them to receive it and get it posted. They want you to do everything.in the computer, I m 70 years.old and don t do computers. Ut they certainly don't understand tgat. Everyone in their eyes should be computer savvy. They are a company who certainly practice PPBP (piss poor business practices).

I have been using Gexa since I moved here 4 years ago but I will not be renewing next month. Somehow I've paid no less than $160 per month and I live in a 800sqft apartment. My bill went from about $75-$120 to being $160-$215 a month! When I ask them to clarify my bill, they never make sense or can explain why my bill is so high. My last bill was $212. Even $160 for a one bedroom apartment is outrageous. Customer service is never any help. I used to actually rave about them. I'm so disappointed now. I'll never be a customer again.

The renewal process is a scam. Their customer webpage does not provide you with the renewal option. When you call in, the automatic answering sent you a link to renew but the link says "your account already renewed". But infact they purposely delay your account pass the renewal date the roll over a plan called flat-rate that cost you twice the normal bill. When you call in again to renew, they aggressively force you to sign up for an expensive flat rate and also add a few junk options to raise your bill. The people you talk to are from overseas with Indian accent.
I will leave Gexa at the end of my contract. It is a horrible rip-off scam from Gexa on existing customer who just try to renew the contract.

Don't use! They spelled my email wrong so I didn't get a bill the 1st month of a 3 month contract so they turned off the electricity and charged me a disconnection fee. I called and had it turned back on and waive the connection fee. Same thing happened the second and third month. I'm glad I'm through with them.

TERRIBLE. I have used Gexa Energy in the past and was happy with the process and product. I tried for 3 hours to get power set up for one of my rental properties after a tenant moved out. Thought it would be a simple process. NOTHING OF THE KIND. After providing TXDL pics and proof of ownership. I had not made the application in the same name that is on my TXDL. I used my initials. This was not good for them, and so I spoke to customer service and STILL NO HELP. Avoid. They are no longer worth the time. Happy I moved to a STAR based company,

I need to pay my bill in cash. Should be easy right? They sent me three different places today. Each one required a bar code. The bar code on their bill doesn't work. In fact, Gexa was unable to provide a working bar code. They blamed it on the three places they sent me to. Basically they said "it's not our fault.". So now I have to find a real provider.
If there's a possibility for 0 stars I would give it.
I called to move from another provider. The CS mentioned while recorded that they will take care of the early termination fee up to 500$.
The final invoice came from the other company so I had to call them. They had the audacity to say that I called a third party so they wouldn't pay it. This is scamming I broad daylight. Its a waste of time and utter disappointment for such companies to be in business.
We moved here last year from SC. The electric here is all screwed up. Way too many gimmicks to rip you off. When we got here GEXA looked good since we had no experience navigating this crazy system. What we've experienced; Most power companies will take advantage of you. When they say 12.1 cents per Kwh, it actually comes out to .17 cents per Kwh for us doing the math. Renewal time is coming and we'll be going with BKV Energy which has a true fixed rate of .14 cents per Kwh and we won't be chasing Kwh to get a discount. It's up front in the actual price per Kwh. Live and learn.
We have always paid our bill on the second of every month like clockwork for many years. This month they made the bill due on the 31st, New Year's Eve. The 1st was New Year's Day and the second is the normal day we pay. We went to the website on the 2nd to pay the bill and they tacked on a $25 dollar disconnect fee. I am outraged...they changed the due date and counted a holiday. It was a low usage month. Guess they needed extra money so they made up new dates and the holiday to their advantage. I will be watching my electricity and continue to keep it low so they don't make anything off me again. I still can't get over getting a disconnect fee after they read the meter a week before. Stay away from Gexa. They do sneaky things.
I jumped from the frying pan into the fire. I have never in my lifetime paid so much for electricity. I am a senior on a fixed income and this summer so far, I have paid an estimate of over $$2000 for electricity, my highest bill this month of $488. You are OK if you don't use your air condition, but that's impossible when you live in Texas. Can't wait until my contract is up.
Gexa’s customer service agents are polite, but the company itself is deceptive and predatory. They punish loyal, returning customers with outrageous fees—I was charged a $300 cancellation penalty. The shocking part? Even after paying that fee, I’ll save over $1,000 by switching away. That tells you everything you need to know. I hope this company loses every single customer until they stop gouging people.
I had been a customer before. I never had a problem with them. I tried to sign up today to transfer my service over. I have spent at least an hour with them. My credit report was fine, but I needed to provide "additional documentation." My mail server said their mail server received it, but it has not made it into their system. I have sent the documentation from multiple addresses. I am still not signed up. Will try one last call shortly. Updated. Last call did nothing. I did receive a call several hours later saying they waived the ID requirements and I was approved for service.
They said the rate was 10.2 per kWh but I’ve never seen it they are charging me around 20. I’ve took several surveys and they say they will give me a call but never do.
Worst electricity company ever, must be owned by a 3rd world country…. If you don’t pay on the due date, they hit you with 5% late fees… and they don’t tell you, also a $20 billed cancellation fee…. Which starts in 10 days, worst company ever…. Never seen anything like these morons…. They can’t wait 7 days for their payment, they get upset like a 5 year old…. They start texting, and emailing saying you are late, we are gonna disconnect you… 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I am glad there’s 100 other companies in Texas to choose from…
The absolute worst experience. The fact that EVERY REVIEW is either a 1 star or a 2 star review, with NOT EVEN ONE 3, 4 or 5 star review, says it all. After my first letter to Mr. Ketchum, his sycophant, nice as she was offered a bone if I would not sue them. I made a mistake and accepted it because we were already on the phone for over an hour and a half. After receiving a new charge card, what should have taken three or four minutes on the phone, as with the last company I updated, and spending more than 40 minutes on the phone, it still wasn't done. They talk about not having secure phones. I guess if they think they can't dazzle me with brilliance they will baffle me with bull! That is not true. Mr. Ketchum, because your staff lied to me, it is as you lied to me. You violated the terms of the contact; therefore, it is nullified. Contracts that are violated are not enforceable in a court of law. If you do not want my new number, game on. You will not get it, and, by the way, I have spent most of the last two days writing a class action law suit.
I would give them no Stars but it makes me give at least 1 :( , I've paid my bill and got a confirmation from my bank, sent them the confirmation by email and after some time my email was rejected! possibly because of the attachment?, I wish I had read the reviews before I picked this Gexa Energy!
Gexa was a $295 lesson in reading and understanding the Texas EFL (energy facts label). Their quoting system indicated that I would pay 11.9 cents per 1000 KwH. Due to my responsible energy habits (termostat set at 78 in summer and 67 in winter) I thought this a good deal. Nope.
The real rate is 23.9 cents for the first 500 KwH. My average energy usage is less than 1000KwH making this the worst plan possible. Sure, I get $115 back if I exceed 1000KwH but that happens only 3 months of the year. Just under 1000KwH means about $230/month electricity bill.
Learn to read the EFL!
BTW, never go with a company that sponsors/owns rights to a sporting team stadium! I should have known. My bad.
