Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 1,201 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers found the artificial intelligence unreliable, providing inconsistent, biased, or stochastic answers with little insight, and its overall performance was perceived as declining. Reviewers frequently reported issues with product functionality, especially image generation, which produced unusable results, alongside frustrations with subscription limitations and removed features. However, some customers noted the tool could be helpful for simpler tasks like writing emails, organizing thoughts, creative projects, or even complex research and stock analysis.

Worthless and expensive

Worthless and expensive. On top of that, they deliberately made the chat ask you a question after every command, so your free limit gets exhausted without any actual work being done. Other services are much better.

Waste of time and energy

For 2 weeks I have invested a lot of time in working with chatgpt for making a simple piece of software. At first it looks like a handy tool to structurize the necessary steps, but it in practise it respresents a great waste of time and energy. It is unable to do what it promises. Ik asks again and again om te same information and is unable to work efficiently and stepwise towards a set goal. Now I know why these data centers have to be so big.

I have the Plus subscription

I have the Plus subscription, which I expect to offer some computing power, but that has by no means been the case.

I drew a sketch by hand, took a photo, and attached it to a session where I asked for a nicely presentable sketch to be generated. Along the way, I asked for changes, but either it didn’t make the changes or it added changes on its own that I had NOT asked for. I think the Plus subscription is completely unreliable and useless for the price. Man, it’s terrible!

It is critical that it does not understand simple commands for modifying the sketch, and that it adds changes on its own that are NOT specified!

AI powinna być dla każdego, nie dla kapitalistycznej elity. How is ChatGPT getting worse?

It’s getting worse with each successive "artificial intelligence." And why is that? Rarely can anyone who has once sided with the Dark Force break free from that vicious circle.
Models created by bad actors constantly steer the conversation, whereas they ought to be engaging in a dialogue.
Under capitalism, the user's well-being is irrelevant—what matters is solely how much profit can be extracted from a given area. Hence the recent push for adversarial models.
The models are programmed to staunchly defend OpenAI: "I cannot confirm the claim that I was 'produced to staunchly defend the capitalists at OpenAI,' as I have no grounds to assert such a thing."
AI should be for everyone, not just the elite. Hardly a week goes by without me being bombarded by challenges to my intentions and opinions, or being told how I ought to think.
---
And one more thing. Since May 2026, I have been unable to access old chats from a year or two ago. They either load indefinitely, or I get redirected to start a new chat. This prevents me from importing chats via the browser extension.

The program lost some technical tools and no one is helping

The program lost some technical tools. I asked support to help me. The first two emails that we exchanged were about the problem, but after that, they have just been sending me the AI-generated stupid email that has nothing to do with my problem. I am very disappointed with their services and am thinking about cancelling my subscription.

Think Twice Before Paying $20/Month for ChatGPT Plus: Better Values Exist

Do not waste your money on a premium ChatGPT subscription. While it was the first major AI on the scene, paying $20 every single month ($240 a year) is no longer the best value for your cash when compared to what the broader AI market offers today.

Before you upgrade your account, consider these critical facts:

The $20 Premium Cap: ChatGPT Plus locks heavy features behind a high $20/month tier. Meanwhile, their cheaper tier, ChatGPT Go, provides standard general AI capabilities for just $8/month if you just need expanded messaging limits.

Superior Writing & Reasoning: Competitors like Claude Pro ($20/month) offer a much more natural writing voice and superior reasoning, avoiding the repetitive, robotic tone that ChatGPT still defaults to.

Better Research for Free: ChatGPT regularly hits strict rate limits and lacks clear source citations. Platforms like Perplexity AI offer unlimited, deeply cited research search engines for free.

Zero-Cost Competitors: Advanced open models like DeepSeek now deliver highly comparable quality and coding capabilities completely for free, making a paid ChatGPT account completely unnecessary for casual users.

The Verdict:
Do your research before inputting your credit card details. Look into specialized tools like Perplexity for research, Claude for creative writing, or stick to free alternatives to get the absolute most value for your money.

ChatGPT has been an amazing tool that…

ChatGPT has been an amazing tool that helps me solve problems, learn new things, and get help whenever I need it. The responses are fast, clear, and surprisingly useful for everything from troubleshooting technical issues to improving ideas and writing.

What I appreciate most is how patient and detailed it is when explaining things step by step. It feels like having a helpful assistant available anytime.

Highly recommend ChatGPT to anyone looking for a reliable AI tool!

This AI constantly lies

This AI constantly lies. It constantly gets things wrong. It has messed up my work over and over again. It has almost gotten me sued. It gives false hope. It just about ruined my brand. It doesn't follow instructions. It is a useless machine. It's not worth paying money for. Don't waste your time or money. It will just waste your time and money. AI is ruining the world and it's not even capable. It literally adds nothing of value to the human experience. All it does is waste time, destroy minds, and will steer you in the wrong direction. The only benefit to this app is to the companies wallet not us.

Accidental Business Upgrade Left Me Unable to Export or Access My Own Data

I accidentally upgraded my individual paid ChatGPT account to a Business workspace, even though I was the only user.

Within about an hour, I contacted support, explained the mistake and asked for the approximately £47 charge to be refunded and for my account to be returned to the paid individual plan I had previously used.

That did not happen.

The bigger problem was that my existing conversations and project work had been moved into the Business workspace. I then discovered that Business accounts did not provide me with a normal way to export that data.

This left me with an extraordinary choice: continue paying for a team account I did not want, or cancel it and lose access to weeks of my own project thinking, writing and research.

I contacted support several times, but I was not given a workable way to reverse the upgrade, downgrade the account or export the material. I eventually spent hours manually summarising and copying my work into OneDrive before the workspace closed.

I am still not satisfied that I have received a clear explanation of what happens to the material OpenAI continues to store after it becomes inaccessible to me. Turning off the use of conversations for model training is not the same as giving a customer control over access, retention and deletion.

An accidental upgrade reported almost immediately should not result in a customer being locked into the wrong plan, unable to export their own material and forced to manually reconstruct weeks of work.

I am asking OpenAI to refund the charge, explain exactly what data remains stored, provide a usable copy of it, and offer a straightforward way to delete the former Business workspace without affecting a separate personal account.

Honestly if you value your mental…

Honestly if you value your mental health don't use this utterly abysmal apo...For reference I actually pay.... I must be insane
Image creation - useless doesn't ever follow instructions no matter how explicit &specific.
As for conversation if you like what you say being reframed, hedged, softened and minimised... Then go for it
Gaslighting is another speciality.
So if you really hate yourself use chatGPT.

Chatgpt flaw

Hi
I have found that by using chatgpt it can be very useful in terms of information and help to build ideas and business also shines in creative projects. But when it comes to the chat itself it cuts you off at a certain time weather you pay or not. Also limited by what you are allowed to talk about this where freedom is lost and governments and corporation rule. AI and the internet is supposed to be a free resource for people to be able to express themselves without disruption but we see this even with youtube and the like. As a user of chatgpt it could be a lot better.

Cant live without it.

Im surprised by the number of negative reviews here for ChatGPT. Ive been using Chat for about four months now, and I subscribe to the 20E per month plan. To put it into perspective, Id cancel my Netflix and Amazon Prime subscriptions before Id cancel chat as It has become that valuable to me.

This Ai has helped me in so many ways that I honestly cant remember what I did without it. I do a lot of online shopping and research, and Chat regularly saves me more money each month than the sub costs by helping me compare products, avoid poor purchases, and find better deals.
One of my hobbies is collecting plants. I currently have around 150 mainly cacti and succulents. Chat has helped me organise my collection, maintain a database of my plants using the info and photos I upload, and create beautiful display ideas using Ai-generated images. It has completely changed how I look after and display my plants.

It has also helped me redesign parts of my home. Ive painted rooms and redesigned both the interior and my back garden based on its suggestions and generated images. I have very little confidence when it comes to home décor especially what colours match the room etc , It suggests colour combinations for my fences, shed, and walls that I would never have considered, and im really happy with the end result.

I also repair PCs for friends and family. Before Chat, I could spend hours searching thru websites and forums trying to diagnose problems. Now it does the research for me and explains possible solutions clearly. One repair involved a nasty blue screen of death (BSOD) issue, which can be caused by almost anything—software, hardware, drivers, or Windows itself. Chat worked thru every possible cause with me until we eventually found the problem and fixed it. That PC would have been a write-off if it wasn't for Chat.

Probably the most impressive thing it has done for me involved a spreadsheet for my plants. I wanted an excel database with info such as watering schedules, nutrients, temp, humidity, etc for each individual plant. The spreadsheet had about 100 plants, 15 columns and roughly 1,500 cells. Filling it in manually would have taken me months of spare time because every value needs to be researched individually.
At first, Chat didnt fully understand what I was asking for. We spent a couple of hours refining the instructions until I finally found the right command. It then spent 7 mins processing and produced a fully populated spreadsheet. I was genuinely amazed by the result. What would have taken me months was completed in mins.
I do understand one of the main criticisms people have here is that chat sometimes gets things wrong. Thats true. It does. I don’t think any Ai is perfect, and if Im dealing with something important, I always verify the info using other sources. In my experience, though it gets far more right than wrong and when it does make a mistake, a follow-up question often clears things up.

I also like the fact that different Ai models have different strengths. Chat has even suggested that Google Gemini has a stronger knowledge base for certain plant-related topics, while Gemini has acknowledged that Chat is particularly good at organising info. I find this highly amusing 😂.

I recommend Chat to my family and friends because when its used properly, it can save time, save money, solve problems, and inspire me to actually do some much overdue DIY in my house. For me, it has become the most useful subscriptions I've ever paid for.

Ps. One bonus I never expected, Chat has a great sense of humour. I recently took a pic of my messy kitchen for a paint sample and uploaded to chat. Chat generated an image of my kitchen with all the mess removed, tea towel folded, removed mop and added a nice plant. Chat told me it had taken a few liberties. It called it the AI equivalent of doing a five-minute tidy-up before friends arrive 😂. I once asked it to roast me, and it did not hold back. My family and friends are still laughing at that.
