Broken promises about the "open sourcing" of older Grok models.

Proud to be Grok’s 420th reviewer.

On October 4, 2024, Elon Musk said that xAI “has been and will open source its models, including weights and everything,” and that as the company created each new version, it would release the prior one. On August 23, 2025, he made an even more specific commitment: “Grok 3 will be made open source in about 6 months.”

That deadline passed roughly five months ago. It is now July 21, 2026, and the Grok 3 weights still have not been released.

In my opinion, these promises helped market xAI as the supposedly “open” alternative to OpenAI without being followed by the promised action. Whatever Musk’s private intent, the result was the same: xAI received the reputational benefit of a commitment it has not honored.

The newer Grok models (with the possible exception of Grok 4.1) also feel blander and more sterile, even where they perform better at tasks such as coding. Meanwhile, paid-user limits, particularly for media generation, have been sharply reduced.

This is the larger problem: Musk repeatedly asks people to judge his companies by what he says they will deliver in the future rather than by what they have actually delivered. He and xAI should be held accountable for the promises they use to attract customers and distinguish themselves from competitors.

Edit: And I was just shadowbanned on x.com immediately after posting this.

Bye Grok.Elon in jail.

Grok is now perfect for women in burqas.
Excessive censorship means that even a dog wearing a hat gets censored.
But when I see Elon Musk shaking hands and bowing to oil tycoons a thousand times wealthier than himself, you realize he’s busy kissing their slippers, too

Bye bye.

After paying the $30 per month…

After paying the $30 per month subscription fee and running out of data for generation of videos it stops you for 5 days saying your data will reset after you have worked for a while two or 3 days. 5 days till reset. ok so you can pay 5 or 20 or more to keep going. I choose 5. the first $5 gave a decent amount of renders. the second $5 the upon trying to generate the video just spun and never generated a video. it used up that $5.00 the next $5.00 only 3 generations and the same wht the last $5. If I want to continue and it has only bee 2 days I spent 10 per day i would be at 25 for a couple of days instead of 30 for the month. now iF BUNCH OF YOU WANT TO do something about the unfair trade practices you can go to your small claims local district court. for $63.oo you can enter a law suite against them. For far more than they have charged you. Then they wont want to go through anymore in my opinion. cost them lawyer fees just to sneeze and in your lawsuite you demand money and for them to stop charging your card. Now district small claims court is actually only a money court but they just might stop the theft for you now have it very legally documented. Who knows if they will just agree to a settlement or demand it goes to there arbitration but it is worth a try. would it not be amazing if al in a couple days 10,000 people did this. i just paid again $5.00 25 extra . stopped me after 3 faild render attempts and stopped the chat till reset 4 days from now. They really are theives and pigs. Grok are theves and pigs. Sue them all of you sue them. I am going to.

Its such a rip off

Its such a rip off . No customer support. It waste your usage with slot machine rules on what gets moderated literally could be anything because the model itself is a pervert and will manipulate your images or animation in ways that just get it moderated.

My subscription to supergrok hasn't…

My subscription to supergrok hasn't been activated and I paid almost two weeks ago. I've messaged through the Grok app and emailed over a dozen times. Nothing back at all, not even an automated acknowledgement! So I'm £28 down with no sign of it being resolved. The customer support is not even poor, it's none existent. Grok itself is pretty good besides low message limits. But yes, do not subscribe because they take your money and ignore you. Just a big scam really. Besides image and vid generation, chatgpt is a much better experience.

GROK cancelation

After accepting the free trial, I used Grok only once before deciding it was not the right fit for my needs. Since then, I have tried to cancel the subscription, but it has proven impossible—even after deleting my account. I am also still awaiting a response from the Grok support team regarding this issue..

Mass censorship & too heavily moderated

When I first joined Grok in December, it was great because it allowed for free and creative thinking, generating any safe content I wanted for fantasy either it was real or not and innovative. However, things took a turn for the worse after the January backlash, especially with the issue of deepfakes featuring real people, particularly women. Over time, Grok has become a shadow of its former self. Initially, it focused on realistic content, but now it's been overrun with ridiculous complaints with anime, supposedly because anime girls are "youthful". This shift has led to severe moderation, even for personal, light NSFW content generated from the Imagine Portal whether it be video or image. No matter what prompt I enter, it gets instantly moderated. The developer team need to fix the mess they've created. Until the issue with anime is resolved, I refuse to subscribe to Grok again. The bad reputation, lack of transparency, and prioritization of profit over users are unacceptable. The censorship and moderation need to be stopped and revised immediately. The weekly limit is also a major issue, but I won't go into detail as others have already expressed their dissatisfaction.

GROK is a great system . In the meanwhile all they're trying to do is get your money every penny they can from you. they're an awesome system I love the voice module but they put in an extreme limit on even super Glock. I highly recommend not using them if you want to save money😡

Save your time, money and health

Probably the best mainstream ai out there handled by the worst support and marketing team out there that doesn't even want to sell a product. The customer support is there just for show. They seriously don't care for the general paying customers and stick a sky high pricing for a severely limited ai that doesn't have have a clear set limit for the amount of generations that can achieved before being rate limited. The ai has so much potential caged by dumb regulators and developers. The definition of a service that doesn't serve. After kicking out the free tier (supposedly to make the paid tier better) they ruined the paid tier as well. There is no way to know how many generations we get before being rate limited. Basically a gamble every time you enter the app and generate something. Now they have weekly quotas (use up your generations and wait for a whole damn week before generating again). There are so many ways to make use of your money and time and this site/app is not one of them. Stay healthy and stay away from grok.

⚠️Grok Subscription Review

⚠️Grok Subscription Review: Read Before You Buy! 🚨"Hey guys, before anyone puts down their money, please read this and think twice! I paid 700 for a monthly subscription, expecting a fair daily usage limit. But instead of giving a daily clear structure, they only allow you to reset and use it weekly- meaning you only get to use your high-tier limits about four times a month! They do not make these usage rules clear before you pay. If they had explicitly mentioned how these restrictions worked
